John C Reilly Tried To Talk Leonardo DiCaprio Out Of Titanic Role

John C Reilly Tried To Talk Leonardo DiCaprio Out Of Titanic Role

John C Reilly has admitted he once tried to give Leonardo DiCaprio some advice that would have changed the course of the young actor’s career. The pair met on the set of the 1993 coming-of-age drama What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, with John going on to collaborate with Paul Thomas Anderson on his movie Boogie Nights. Before filming got underway, the future Oscar-winning director had hoped to snag Leo for the lead role of Dirk Diggler, after watching him in The Basketball Diaries. However, the Romeo & Juliet actor had to turn the offer down as he’d already agreed to appear in a little-known indie film you may or may not have heard of… known as Titanic. During an appearance on Ted Danson’s podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name, John recalled: “I knew Leo. I met him when he was 17. And I was like, ‘Give me the assignment, Paul. I’ll get this guy to do your movie. I’ve known him since he’s a kid’.” He continued: “I was like, ‘Listen, Leo, let me tell you …

Rolling Stones Tap Nathaniel Mary Quinn for Foreign Tongues Album Cover

Rolling Stones Tap Nathaniel Mary Quinn for Foreign Tongues Album Cover

Nathaniel Mary Quinn still sounds a little stunned by the whole affair: Last fall, the painter was in the kitchen of his Brooklyn brownstone when he got on a three-way call with Mick Jagger and producer Andrew Watt. By the end of it, he had agreed to make the cover art for Foreign Tongues, the Rolling Stones’ new album, due out July 10.  “I’m standing in my kitchen talking to Mick Jagger,” Quinn told me last week over the phone, “It was surreal.” The resulting image, an unsettling but magnetic composite portrait that folds together the faces of Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, now sits at the center of the Stones’ global rollout for the record. Quinn also redesigned the band’s famous tongue-and-lips logo for the campaign. Related Articles The story started after Quinn’s solo exhibition “Echoes from Copeland” at Gagosian in Chelsea last September. According to Quinn, Jagger visited the show twice. A few weeks later, Quinn’s wife and studio manager, Donna Augustine Quinn, received a text from music executive Jimmy Iovine saying the Stones were …

‘What Happens at Night’: Everything We Know About Scorsese and DiCaprio’s New Collab

‘What Happens at Night’: Everything We Know About Scorsese and DiCaprio’s New Collab

He’s been a fanatical supporter of the genre for as long as he’s had push broom eyebrows, so the prospect of What Happens at Night, Martin Scorsese’s first out-and-out horror flick, is already tantalizing enough. Throw into the mix a leading turn from frequent Marty muse Leonardo DiCaprio—opposite Jennifer Lawrence, plus GOATed screen veterans Patricia Clarkson, Mads Mikkelsen, and Jared Harris—and you’ve got a recipe for spine-chilling cinematic gold. What Happens at Night was first announced as one of many Scorsese-produced projects back in 2023, with the octogenarian auteur deciding to hit the director’s chair a few years later. It’s adapted from the gothic mystery novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, which got strong reviews from literary critics and was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2020 Los Angeles Times Book Prize. In the book, a couple travels to an unnamed Balkan country seeking to adopt a child; the wife has terminal cancer, and they hope that the trip can save their ailing marriage before she dies. By the sounds of it, the …

Why ‘bone-chilling’ thriller What Happens at Night starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence should be on your watchlist

Are you looking for a truly bone-chilling thriller that’s worth a spot on your 2026 watchlist? Apple TV‘s upcoming movie, What Happens at Night, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, should be your top contender.  Based on the 2020 novel by Peter Cameron, the film follows an American couple who travel to a mysterious European town to adopt a baby. In a first-look picture, the couple is shown walking curiously over snow-covered ground while holding onto each other’s arms.  © Apple TVJennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio in What Happens at Night Not only does the film boast a stellar leading duo in Leonardo and Jennifer, but it is also directed by one of the industry’s most revered filmmakers, Martin Scorsese. The ‘Heat 2’ Cast Is Shaping Up. Here’s Everything We Know

The ‘Heat 2’ Cast Is Shaping Up. Here’s Everything We Know

The story also jumps forward in time to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay, where Shiherlis becomes enmeshed in a complex global black market supply-chain drama between two Taiwanese expat families competing for dominance of the illicit import/export trade. It sounds complicated, but not much more complicated than it would be if I tried to describe Michael Corleone’s foray down to Cuba with Hyman Roth in Godfather II with a one-sentence synopsis. The timelines eventually braid, and the story reaches a thrilling conclusion set in Los Angeles in the year 2000. The novel was a canny move by Mann, who can be seen as in the midst of a decade plus long box office cold streak. Blackhat reportedly made $20 million on a $70 million budget while Ferrari made $43.6 million on a budget of $95 million. There is a case to be made that this does not matter because Ferrari is pretty good and Blackhat rules—but that aside, if you’re trying to talk a studio into giving you $150 million for a set-piece-packed thriller with …

The 11 Best Facial Hair Moments of the Oscars 2026, Ranked

Whether you’re waiting for your Kalshi bets to pay out or you’re still upset your best supporting actor pick didn’t win, the 2026 Oscars are signed, sealed, and delivered. But there’s still time to hand out just a few more awards. Especially since we’d be remiss if we didn’t highlight some of the creative grooming situations that graced Hollywood’s Dolby Theater last night. Attendees showed off a spectrum of hair styles, including tidy, clean-shaven looks, some five o’clock shadows, plenty of big bushy beards, goatee variations, and a bold mustache or two. Below are our favorite facial hair moments from the Academy Awards, definitely ranked. 11. Jacob Elordi Gilbert Flores / Getty Images The Frankenstein actor’s facial hair game has been wide-ranging during awards season, ranging from clean shaven to ‘70s dirtbag. For the Oscars, the 28-year-old went middle of the road with his hairy upper lip, not quite achieving Tom Selleck levels of bushiness. Listen, as long as he doesn’t go back to his full beard, there are very few things Elordi can do …

After a marathon awards season, it’s finally Oscars night. The red carpet for the 98th Academy Awards is officially underway, which means in just a few short hours we’ll know the answers to all of Hollywood’s most pressing questions (non-Warner-acquisition edition): Will Timothée Chalamet earn the Oscar he’s worked so relentlessly hard for, or will Michael B. Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, or Wagner Moura score the upset? Will the Academy finally give Paul Thomas Anderson his flowers, or will Ryan Coogler claim the best director crown? Can Conan O’Brien repeat his universally beloved performance as host? And perhaps most importantly of all: What will all these dudes be wearing? To find out the latter, at least, keep it locked right here, where we’ll be keeping a running tab of every celebrity menswear look as soon as they step foot outside LA’s Dolby Theater. The Best Oscar Speeches, Definitively Ranked

The Best Oscar Speeches, Definitively Ranked

What makes an Oscar acceptance speech one of the best Oscar speeches? Conventional wisdom would have it that if you’re lucky enough to win an Academy Award, you should keep it short, try not to bad-mouth anyone, and most importantly, just enjoy the moment. But more often than not, the best Oscar speeches have defied those traditional expectations. Some of the most memorable Oscar acceptance speeches are the ones in which which actors and filmmakers have used their time on stage to draw attention to the political causes of the day, controversy be damned; others just bristle with excitable chaos, explosions of emotion that feel all-the-more real than the overly rehearsed performances of gratitude that dominate the awards circuit. Like the performances and movies that garner Oscar statuettes, the Oscars speeches that linger in the memory—and there have been hundreds of them in the many decades of Academy history— make us feel something. Whether we’re watching a loveable underdog or a legend of the game who is finally being given their dues, their time on …

See What the Oscars 2026 Nominees Wore to Their First Academy Awards

See What the Oscars 2026 Nominees Wore to Their First Academy Awards

They say that you never forget your first…outfit worn to the Oscars, that is. For many stars, the Oscars 2026 will mark their Academy Awards debut. Good for them! But many of the Oscars 2026 nominees have also been around the block—or should we say, down the red carpet—a time or two before, whether their first time attending the ceremony was just a few years ago or as far back as a few decades ago. For example, this may be the first time that Michael B. Jordan has been nominated, for his dual roles in Sinners, but he attended his first Oscars in 2014 after his breakout turn in Fruitvale Station. He stepped out in a classic Givenchy tux to celebrate his first collaboration with director Ryan Coogler. Jessie Buckley has earned critical praise and fan buzz, not to mention a lead-acting nod, for her work in Hamnet. Her first time at the Oscars, in 2022, also marked her first nomination, that one in the supporting category for The Lost Daughter. The Irish actor reached …

Leonardo DiCaprio to Miss Actor Awards, Shooting Martin Scorsese Film

Leonardo DiCaprio to Miss Actor Awards, Shooting Martin Scorsese Film

Leonardo DiCaprio is not attending the 32nd annual Actor Awards (formerly known as a Screen Actors Guild “SAG” Awards) on Sunday night, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. DiCaprio won’t be able to attend the ceremony due to scheduling conflicts, as he’s filming the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, What Happens at Night, in Europe and starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence. The film is an adaptation of the ghost novel of the same name, which follows a married couple who travel to Europe to adopt a baby and stay in a deserted hotel filled with eccentric characters. It marks the seventh feature film that DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked on together, and the first onscreen collaboration for the actress with Scorsese as director. At the 2026 Actor Awards, the Oscar winner is nominated for two awards for his work in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, including outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role and outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. For best male actor, he’s nominated alongside Timothée Chalamet for …
