Liz Truss Criticised For Accusing Starmer Of Appeasing Iranians

Liz Truss has been slammed after accusing Keir Starmer of “appeasing the Iranians” during its war with America and Israel. The former Tory prime minister and Donald Trump fan said Starmer was “not a patriot” and “not on the side of the West” during a bizarre tirade on Talk TV. Her comments came as the prime minister flew to the Gulf for talks after Trump agreed a two-week ceasefire. The US president has been conducting a running feud with Starmer since the war began in February after the government initially denied his request for American jets to conduct bombing raids from RAF bases. Truss said: “Donald Trump understands that Keir Starmer is fundamentally not a patriot, he’s not on the side of the West, he’s been appeasing the Iranians in order to shore up his vote in this country, and Donald Trump now understands that about him.” More bollocks from the Liz Truss: “Trump understands that Keir Starmer is fundamentally not a patriot… he’s been appeasing the Iranians…” pic.twitter.com/QloYKCc7U1 — Haggis_UK 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 (@Haggis_UK) April …

In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde

In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde

There are sports romances that use the game as window dressing, a convenient excuse to put attractive people in tight pants. And then there are stories where the sport is woven into the marrow of every conflict, every stolen glance, every high-stakes decision a character makes. In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde is firmly, thrillingly, the latter. This standalone spin-off from Tomforde’s beloved Windy City series introduces us to Reese Remington, the first female team owner in Major League Baseball history, and Emmett “Monty” Montgomery, the tattooed, gum-chewing field manager whose contract she holds in the palm of her perfectly manicured hand. What follows is a slow-burning, dual-POV romance that earns its heat through genuine emotional tension rather than cheap shortcuts. The Lineup: Characters Who Earn Their Spot Reese is the kind of heroine who walks into a boardroom full of men who want her to fail and refuses to blink first. She carries a Stanford MBA, a legacy she inherited from her grandfather, and the invisible weight of every woman who has ever …

How Liz Cookman went from school dropout to award-winning war correspondent

Liz Cookman. Picture: Submitted War correspondent is up there with astronaut and rockstar when it comes to unattainable jobs. But Liz Cookman has made it in this most competitive of roles despite leaving state school in Tooting, South London, at 15 with no qualifications and spending the next decade working dead-end jobs. She was named feature writer of the year at the British Journalism Awards in December for a portfolio of work published in the Guardian and Telegraph chronicling the human cost of war in Russia, Syria and Somalia. The judges said: “The quality of writing and scope of her work made this a standout entry in a category where the quality of entries was incredibly high.” Speaking from her home in Istanbul, Cookman talked about her long journey into journalism, her recent diagnosis with ADHD and the challenges of being a freelance foreign correspondent. I also asked her why women appear to make such good war correspondents. Ramita Navai was also recognised at the British Journalism Awards for her reporting on Gaza while The …

‘Aprende Peque,’ ‘Spanish with Liz’ teach kids Spanish on YouTube

Before the onset of YouTube, U.S. parents had very limited options when it came to video programs that helped teach their children Spanish. There was, of course, the ever-popular Nickelodeon show “Dora the Explorer” and before that, the PBS show “Amigos,” that looked to instill the basics of Spanish into kids across America. These programs — while useful, innovative and entertaining — never allowed for full-on Spanish-language immersion for viewers, relying heavily on English as their primary tongue. Now, kid-friendly videos for language acquisition can be found on all corners of the internet with YouTube playing host to the lion’s share of the market, ranging from partially in Spanish to only in Spanish. The Times spoke to three of the most viewed Spanish-language educators for children on YouTube to see what goes behind creating highly engaging children’s content. Isa Muñoz — “Aprende Peque” Isa Muñoz, 33, had known from a young age that she wanted to become a teacher. Growing up in the Baja California city of Mexicali, Muñoz’s parents worked as teachers, as did …

From Harold Wilson to Liz Truss – what the fates of former prime ministers can teach Keir Starmer

From Harold Wilson to Liz Truss – what the fates of former prime ministers can teach Keir Starmer

Despite his name – honouring Keir Hardie, the first leader of the Labour party – Keir Starmer is not known to be a student of political history. This apparent incuriosity helps define an indistinct political identity. Asked which premier inspires him, Starmer cites Harold Wilson, an unusual choice – Attlee is much more revered in Labour – and superficially surprising. No politician was more political than Wilson: the moment a camera appeared his usual cigar and brandy was replaced with a pipe and a pint. But recent events have demonstrated that Starmer has reason to choose the man who was Labour prime minister twice in the 1960s and 1970s. Wilson had been soft left, but in Downing Street was non-ideological, tricksy, and reactive. This was partly why he was subject to frenzied speculation about being toppled in office. Labour’s performance in the May 1968 local elections was catastrophic. The following day The Daily Mirror – Labour’s champion – extraordinarily called for Wilson’s removal: he had “lost all credibility: all authority”. Wilson was thereafter beset by …

Liz Truss Welcomes The ‘Financial Collapse’ Of The UN And The Irony Is Off The Charts

Liz Truss has welcomed warnings that the United Nations faces “imminent financial collapse” – and she should know all about that. The former prime minister said the comments by the body’s secretary general, António Guterres, were “excellent” news. According to the BBC, he said the financial crisis which was “threatening programme delivery” and that the UN could even run out of money by July. Truss, who last month urged Donald Trump to “dismantle” the international body, welcomed the report in a post on X. However, social media users were quick to point out the irony of Truss’s latest political intervention, given the economic meltdown triggered by her disastrous mini-Budget. She lasted just 49 days in No.10 after her chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng sent interest rates soaring and sank the pound by announcing £45 billion-worth of unfunded tax cuts. It is not the first time Truss has sparked ridicule in recent days. Source link

Liz Truss Warns US Extreme Left Mounting Armed Insurrection

Liz Truss has been slammed online after she claimed that “the extreme left are mounting an armed insurrection” in America. The former prime minister, who only lasted 49 days in Downing Street after sparking an economic crisis, made the evidence-free claim on a Daily Telegraph podcast. Her comments followed the killing of protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in the US. Truss said: “What [Donald Trump] is facing is an armed insurrection, that’s what’s happening.” Presenter Tim Stanley pointed out to Truss that neither Good or Pretti were armed when they were shot dead. But the former Tory leader said: “What you do have is an armed insurrection, and that is a very difficult thing to deal with. “I’m talking about left-wing protesters co-ordinating on Signal and, in the case of some of these states, a lack of co-operation from the state governor with legitimate law enforcement. “It’s a very serious situation in America, I don’t want it to get anything like that in Britain.” Her comments sparked …

Liz Hurley claim her phone was tapped ‘entirely baseless’ says the Mail

Liz Hurley pictured outside the HIgh Court. Jordan Pettitt/PA Wire. Actress and model Liz Hurley has told the High Court that “everyone’s privacy” is being invaded, as she gave evidence at the trial in her legal action against the publisher of the Daily Mail. She took to the witness box at the Royal Courts of Justice on Thursday, watched on by the Duke of Sussex who attended court the day after giving evidence, but left the building shortly before 12.45pm. The pair, and five others, are suing Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over allegations of unlawful information gathering (UIG). ANL strongly denies wrongdoing and is defending the claims. The alleged unlawful information gathering in Hurley’s case relates to 15 articles between 2002 and 2011. During an emotional morning in the witness box, during which she cried on several occasions, Hurley explained she had hoped her son, Damian, would never have to see some of the articles written about her, and his birth. She said: “I felt really mortified that my son would be able to read all this stuff one day, and …
