Options, of course, also has built-in integration for AI assistants like ChatGPT, with a dedicated “Prompt Builder” UI that can be summoned with the press of a button. Thankfully, unlike some keyboards, AI functionality can easily be disabled, with the key defaulting to Page Down and being remappable to anything else. Unlike other new keyboards, there is not a dedicated Copilot key. Instead, there are only Alt, Function, and Control keys to the right of the spacebar. The keyboard comes with a USB-A wireless dongle that can be stored in a slot on the back, and also has Bluetooth connectivity. Wired connectivity, though, is entirely absent. Instead, like most of Logitech’s productivity items, the USB-C port is used exclusively for charging. This decision has always made some sense for Logitech’s mice, since a cable can get in the way of moving a mouse, but makes far less sense for a keyboard, which is entirely stationary. Logitech users on macOS found themselves locked out of their mouse customizations yesterday after the company let a security certificate expire, breaking both its Logi Options+ and G HUB configuration apps. Logitech devices like its MX Master series mice and MX Keys keyboards stopped working properly as a result of the oversight, with users unable to access their custom scrolling setup, button mappings, and gestures. It wasn’t long before the Logitech subreddit was awash with frustrated reports as people discovered their configured peripherals had suddenly reverted to default settings. The Developer ID certificate is the digital signature macOS uses to verify legitimate software. When Logitech allowed its certificate to lapse, the company’s apps lost verified authenticity. As such, macOS refused to run them, in some cases leading to an endless boot loop. Logitech has since released a patch for macOS 26 Tahoe, macOS 15 Sequoia, macOS 14 Sonoma, and macOS 13 Ventura that resolves the issue. Mechanical keyboards provide a unique appeal for typists and gamers alike, providing a durable, tactile, and responsive experience. After switching from chiclet membrane keyboards to mechanical options, many users report improved typing speed and less wrist fatigue. I’ve spent years trying out the best mechanical keyboards from brands like Logitech, NuPhy, Lofree, and others, but none of them have managed to stay on my desk for more than a few weeks. Eventually, I go back to a “regular” keyboard — for me, that’s the Logitech MX Keys S or the Apple Magic Keyboard (for Touch ID support). Save for building a fully-custom mechanical keyboard from scratch (which is on my list), I’ve tried everything to successfully make the switch. Yet, chiclet and membrane keyboards still win me over. The Logitech Wave Keys ergonomic keyboard has been on my desk for a year, and it’s the best of both worlds for my use case.
