Emmerdale exit revealed for long-running character after over 20 years

One of Emmerdale‘s most beloved characters is to be killed off during an explosive stunt later this year. Jimmy King, who has been played by actor Nick Miles since February 2004, will meet his maker in a truly devastating moment for his on-screen family. Originally arriving alongside his dad and brothers, Jimmy has turned from brutal multi-millionaire businessman to a comedic family man over the last 22 years. He currently owns half of the Home James haulage company, though can often be seen propping up the counter at the Main Street Café alongside wife Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). His exit will coincide with the return of ex-wife Sadie (Patsy Kensit), whose return was announced earlier this week. Radio Times was aware of his forthcoming departure, and understands that Miles is still filming scenes at the serial drama’s studios in Leeds, and will be on screen until the autumn. U.S. Rep. Max Miller sues his ex-wife for defamation in escalation of long-running divorce feud

U.S. Rep. Max Miller sues his ex-wife for defamation in escalation of long-running divorce feud

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The bitter divorce between an Ohio congressman and his former wife, the daughter of one of the state’s U.S. senators, has escalated into new legal action. Republican U.S. Rep. Max Miller filed a defamation lawsuit against Emily Moreno, his one-time spouse, on Wednesday in Cleveland, citing “the considerable reputational and financial harm” caused to him by her accusations that he was “a violent and abusive husband and father.” Miller, a two-term congressman up for reelection this fall, alleges that Moreno, her attorney Andrew Zashin and his law firm have engaged in a defamatory campaign against him by spreading knowingly false information about him to media outlets including the Daily Mail, a British tabloid, and the New York Post. The action contends that the resulting damage to his reputation undermines his chances of reelection. Those outlets have “circulation measured in the tens of millions of print and online readership,” the complaint states, and their articles have been read, viewed or discussed by Miller’s constituents, his congressional colleagues, ”his political supporters and donors, the media, and …

Long-running BBC soap films final scenes despite cast & crew protests

Just over a year after it was first confirmed that long-running BBC Scotland soap, River City, was coming to an end, the series has just filmed its final scenes. The final day of filming on the soap after 24 years took place on Friday 24th April, with ‘Shellsuit’ Bob O’Hara star Stephen Purdon telling BBC News that it was “emotional, surreal, hard to put it into words”. He said: “I’ve been here since I was 19, now I am 43. I have lots of memories from here – great memories. I’ve been lucky to work in this industry for 24 years. We all get on great and there’s no place like it.” The end of filming on the soap comes after a strong campaign from cast, crew and fans to keep it on the air. Want to see this content? A timeline of Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s long-running beef

A timeline of Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s long-running beef

The steadily festering tensions between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, two of the biggest names in rap, culminated explosively over the weekend with a series of scathing diss tracks released from both sides. The songs, released in quick succession, were riddled with allegations of pedophilia, domestic abuse, body modifications, parentage and more. Though the artists’ longstanding beef stretches back for more than a decade, it’s been largely characterized by indirect subtleties in songs, coupled with generally unfriendly public-facing rapport. Drake and Lamar’s feuding could be said to have emanated in part from their contrasting career trajectories: Drake has enjoyed considerable commercial success, churning out chart-topping hits since breaking onto the scene with his first album, “Thank Me Later,” produced in partnership with Young Money Entertainment. In contrast, Lamar, while not as much of a hitmaker, has produced conceptually profound lyrics about the idiosyncracies of the Black experience that speak to family, love, religion, socioeconomic struggle, growing up in Compton, California, and more. Lamar made history in April 2018 when he became the first hip-hop artist to …
