Drivers are being cautioned about delays of up to four hours following a collision on the M6 near Preston. The incident is believed to have occurred on the southbound carriageway between junctions 31 and 29. National Highways has confirmed that “normal traffic conditions” are not expected to resume until between 12.45am and 1am. Photographs circulating on Facebook show drivers standing on the central reservation, with at least one lane appearing to have been shut. A National Highways spokesperson said: “The M6 in Lancashire southbound between J31-J30 traffic has been stopped due to a road traffic collision. There are currently delays in excess of 20 minutes with 2 miles of congestion” Traffic monitoring service Inrix has reported: “All traffic being temporarily held due to accident, two vehicles involved on M6 Southbound after J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury).” Source link
