‘MacBook Ultra’ Coming Soon With These 12 New Features

Apple’s first high-end MacBook redesign in five years is expected to arrive in the near future, bringing a run of firsts to the Mac. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman expects the laptop to arrive between late 2026 and early 2027, with the later window now looking more likely owing to the global memory chip shortage. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects mass production to begin by late 2026. Apple last redesigned the MacBook Pro in 2021 with the M1 Pro and M1 Max models, so this would be its first new high-end laptop design in at least five years. Here is everything rumored about the device so far: “MacBook Ultra” branding: Apple has reportedly decided to market two new “Ultra” products over the next year, the foldable iPhone and this laptop, which would establish a tier above the ‌MacBook Pro‌ for the first time. The name is not confirmed and Apple theoretically could still use “‌MacBook Pro‌” branding, but for now, “MacBook Ultra” seems highly likely. OLED display: The ‌MacBook Ultra‌ is expected to be the first Mac with …

The MacRumors Show: Goodbye MacBook Pro? MacBook Ultra Is Coming

On this week’s episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss the future of Apple’s increasingly tangled high-end MacBook lineup, including the entry-level MacBook Pro and the rumored “MacBook Ultra.” Apple’s chip roadmap for the Mac is reportedly set to take an unusual turn over the next year. The company is said to be skipping the M6 Pro and M6 Max entirely, jumping from the M5 generation straight to the M7 for its high-end laptops. A standard M6 chip will still arrive this year in an entry-level ‌MacBook Pro‌, but there will apparently be no Pro or Max variant in that family. As a result, Apple’s first high-end OLED laptop will use the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than newer silicon. First-generation buyers would therefore be paying a premium for a redesigned machine featuring the same processors already found in the current ‌MacBook Pro‌, with M7 Pro and M7 Max models expected to follow in the second half of 2027. The launch window remains fluid. The device was long expected to arrive in …

MacBook Ultra: Everything We Know About Apple’s OLED Touchscreen Mac

Apple is working on a high-end MacBook Pro that could be called the “MacBook Ultra.” The device will have several firsts in a Mac, including an OLED display and a touchscreen. The “Ultra” name isn’t a sure thing, and Apple could also continue to call the device the ‌MacBook Pro‌. It will be a “Pro” device in the ‌MacBook Pro‌ line. Design Apple hasn’t redesigned the ‌MacBook Pro‌ since it added Apple silicon chips in 2021, so the device is due for a new look. The MacBook Ultra could feature some design changes, including a thinner chassis. Apple could get rid of the notch on the MacBook Ultra, replacing it with an iPhone-style Dynamic Island. A ‌Dynamic Island‌ would unify the way Siri AI behaves across the iPhone and the Mac with iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate. Size Options The MacBook Ultra will be available in both 14-inch and 16-inch size options. Display Apple’s upcoming MacBook will be the first with an OLED display. OLED display technology is already used for the iPhone, Apple …

Apple Planning to Launch Two New ‘Ultra’ Products in the Next Year

Apple Planning to Launch Two New ‘Ultra’ Products in the Next Year

Apple has decided to market two of its new products over the next year as “Ultra” devices, Macworld reports. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the report claims that Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be called the “iPhone Ultra.” The device will become the highest end option in the lineup. The ‌iPhone Ultra‌ will not be considered part of the iPhone 18 iPhone lineup, despite arriving alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and ‌iPhone 18 Pro‌ Max. This would be just like how the iPhone Air is not considered to be part of the iPhone 17 series. Although Apple is hoping to ship the ‌iPhone Ultra‌ alongside the ‌iPhone 18 Pro‌, it may launch a few weeks later and with scarcer availability. Moreover, Apple is apparently planning to release a “MacBook Ultra” later this year or in early 2027. It will feature an OLED panel and a touchscreen, sitting above the MacBook Pro in the lineup at a “significantly” higher price point. While the device was originally intended to launch later this year, it is now …

Apple to Launch ‘MacBook Ultra’ With These Six New Features

While the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro were just updated with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips last month, bigger changes are reportedly around the corner. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the higher-end MacBook Pro models will be receiving a major redesign by early 2027, and he said that Apple might use “MacBook Ultra” branding for them. If so, the MacBook Ultra would likely be a higher-priced model at the top of the MacBook lineup, sitting above the MacBook Pro entirely. Up to six new features have been rumored so far, including an OLED display, touch capabilities, a Dynamic Island, M6 Pro and M6 Max chips manufactured with TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, a thinner design, and built-in cellular connectivity. The exact launch timing remains to be seen, but Gurman recently said that early 2027 is now looking more likely than late 2026 due to the global memory chip shortage. Apple’s supply of RAM is constrained, which might push back the launch. Keep in mind that the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip is …
