Lanterns trailer unveils major DC villains ahead of HBO premiere

DC Comics fans have finally got a closer look at HBO’s Green Lantern-inspired mystery series, Lanterns, in an official full-length trailer. The series stars Aaron Pierre (Mufasa, Rebel Ridge) and Kyle Chandler (Godzilla) as John Stewart and Hal Jordan respectively, both members of the titular intergalactic police force. The leading heroes have magical rings that allow them to create any object imaginable out of green light as they patrol the galaxy and keep peace. In the series, the mentor and rookie are called to a small Nebraskan town, which is rather suspicious of outsiders. The U.S. military later said it conducted its 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iran in attacks aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten maritime traffic. Coronation Street airs major Maria decision concerning Gary’s future

Coronation Street airs major Maria decision concerning Gary’s future

Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) faced a serious dilemma in today’s (23 July) episode of Coronation Street. For months, she battled with the belief that husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) was having an affair with his ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). During a disastrous dinner party, where she decided to challenge the pair over their ‘infidelity’, a flashback revealed the truth to viewers. Gary had actually been Sarah’s first contact after she’d murdered Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), by hitting him over the head with a pipe and sending him flying off the side of some scaffolding. After being caught up in her crime, Gary needed an alibi. Just hours before, he’d smashed up Theo’s van and threatened him. Maria unknowingly agreed to pretend that they’d spent the night together at the builder’s yard so that the police couldn’t pin the blame on him. However, following Sarah’s arrest and charges being made earlier this week, Maria began to wonder whether there was something more to the story than she was being told. Mikey North as Gary Windass …

Related Articles The exhibition is curated by Jasper Sharp and Bernard Lagrange in collaboration with Charly Herscovici, president of the Fondation Magritte, and other scholars. Gagosian said the full list of participating contemporary artists will be announced in the coming months. Among the highlights is La Lampe philosophique (The Philosopher’s Lamp) (1936), a painting widely regarded as a conceptual self-portrait that previously appeared in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s influential 2006–07 exhibition Magritte and Contemporary Art: The Treachery of Images. …

The Undeclared War season 2 review: A major improvement

The Undeclared War season 2 review: A major improvement

A star rating of 3 out of 5. It has been so long since the first season of The Undeclared War aired, you’d be forgiven for assuming that it wasn’t coming back for a second. Yet four years on, here we are – with Peter Kosminsky’s cyber thriller somewhat inexplicably now returning to Channel 4. There was hardly a large fanbase clamouring for the show to make a comeback. Season one had very mixed reviews and hasn’t exactly made its way into the cultural consciousness. So one has to wonder whether it was Simon Pegg’s star power alone that nudged season two into existence. Especially since the star-wattage has been dialled down somewhat with neither Adrian Lester nor Mark Rylance reprising their roles. Anyway, Pegg is back as GCHQ Director of Operations Danny Patrick; as is Hannah Khalique-Brown as Saara (even if she’s now more of a supporting player) and joining the cast is Blue Lights actor Siân Brooke as Danny’s wife – and colleague – Barbara. At breakneck speed, we pick up right where …
