Teen convicted of manslaughter after asthma inhaler DNA matched to crime scene cigarette butt | UK News

A 19-year-old has been convicted over a fatal stabbing after police matched DNA on a cigarette found at the scene to that on his asthma inhaler. Ali Abdul Basit was convicted at the Old Bailey on Friday for his role in killing Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, Metropolitan Police said. Basit’s conviction followed a two-year investigation, after he fled to Pakistan. Mr Peixoto was attacked in Thornton Heath in south London on 19 December 2023, police said. A group of men in a white BMW were seen waiting in the road when Mr Peixoto arrived with a friend in a Vauxhall Grandland on the night of the killing. What Good Is 15% Growth If It’s Matched With 15% Unemployment?

By Michael Every of Rabobank Mr. 15%: Trump stated if Fed Chair Warsh does his job, US growth could be 15% or higher. It’s unclear if that’s annual, exceeding China’s early spurt, or over the remaining two-and-a-half years of his presidency, so higher than China today, or nominal or real. Yet the key signal for those who called Warsh a ‘hawk’ is that the Fed is going to run the economy hot. That’s as the FT notes, ‘Bash All Day, Buy All Night’, explaining “Why foreigners keep pouring money into America” despite attacking it verbally all the time. For now, signals are ice cold and red hot. The Wall Street Journal claims ‘Job Hunters Are So Desperate That They’re Paying to Get Recruited.’ However, trucking signals point to a significant upturn ahead led by manufacturing. Already in the 15% camp is AI, where Alphabet is lining up a 100-year sterling bond sale and, as Bloomberg puts it, ‘Memory Chip Squeeze Wreaks Havoc in Markets, With More to Come.’ Relatedly, the US is reportedly to exempt …

Teyana Taylor and Her Daughters Matched in Thom Browne at the GQ Bowl

Teyana Taylor has had a big, busy 2026 so far. Last month, she accepted her first Golden Globe Award for her performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. Shortly thereafter, she made her Saturday Night Live debut—paying tribute to her Harlem roots in a sequined I <3 NY shirt—alongside the young, beloved indie band Geese. Last weekend, she presented at the Grammys (where she was also nominated). And, just now, she made an appearance at the second annual GQ Bowl, our fashion-meets-football runway extravaganza. This year’s GQ Bowl hosted the fall 2026 collection of American designer and CFDA chairman Thom Browne. The suiting savant styled many of the evening’s guests in the brand’s signatures, which include ultra-tailored suits, quadri-stripes, and the color gray. (So much is their commitment to the hue, even the step-and-repeat unfolded over a gray carpet.)
