Matthew McConaughey Covered Judy Greer’s Valet Bill When She Was Broke

Judy Greer is recalling when her Wedding Planner co-star Matthew McConaughey once came to her rescue. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said she had gotten herself into a situation when she accidentally parked at an upscale hotel in New York City for the table read of the 2001 rom-com, starring McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez. Greer played Penny, the latter’s best friend in the film. “I valeted my car; I didn’t know any better,” Greer said of when she arrived at the Roosevelt Hotel. “I didn’t have enough money to get my car out of the valet because I was so broke.” She continued, “I was on the pay phone in the lobby, calling my friend Sean Gunn [Gilmore Girls and Guardians of the Galaxy actor], and Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me $20. I was so mortified, but also: my hero.” The film, directed by Adam Shankman, follows Mary Fiore (Lopez), San Francisco’s most successful wedding planner, who books the biggest wedding of her career. But when she realizes she’s unknowingly …

Matthew Brown More Than Doubles Los Angeles Space

Matthew Brown More Than Doubles Los Angeles Space

Dealer Matthew Brown is more than doubling his Los Angeles footprint with a move to a former warehouse at 1145 Seward Street in the Hollywood Media District. It’s just a mile or so from the two Hollywood spaces he has occupied since opening in 2019, at 712 N La Brea Avenue, but the design is worlds apart, he said in a phone conversation. “It’s night and day,” said Brown. “It’s the details, it’s the lighting, it’s the placement of the skylights, the way offices are built out, the way the viewing rooms are built out. When we built the first gallery, I just didn’t have the experience I have now.”  Related Articles The new facility is in the same neighborhood with a number of galleries, including Jeffrey Deitch, Karma, Lisson, Nonaka Hill, and Regen Projects. Brown went with a builder he has worked with before, tapping architect Markus Dochantschi of StudioMDA, who designed Brown’s New York gallery, at 390 Broadway in Tribeca. Brown’s gallery will be the first in Los Angeles for the architect, who …

The Americans star Matthew Rhys deals with demons in Widow’s Bay teaser

Matthew Rhys is swapping spy drama for small town thrills in his surreal new Apple TV series Widow’s Bay. The Americans actor plays Tom Loftis, the mayor of a small town, who is faced with residents convinced that their town is haunted. But as the evidence stacks up, can he continue to deny what he views as nothing but superstition? A new teaser for the show, which has been exclusively shared with Radio Times, introduces us to Rhys’s mayor, Tom Loftis, who accidentally puts his foot in his mouth when colleague Patricia (Kate O’Flynn) tells him a story about a spirit supposedly haunting the town, the boogeyman. “Have I told you about the boogeyman?” she asks him, her voice beginning to shake. “I was home alone and it started with the calls. Weird breathing, hang-ups, and then I heard someone downstairs and I hid under the bed.” As she recounts the story, increasingly haunting scenes from the town start to play out – before abruptly stopping when Tom says: “I think you did tell me …

Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen’s sci-fi show The Miniature Wife underwhelms

Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen’s sci-fi show The Miniature Wife underwhelms

Matthew Macfadyen and Elizabeth Banks star in The Miniature Wife Peacock Miniature people have been a staple of science fiction and fantasy going all the way back to Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels, and shrunken characters have taken the spotlight in everything from classic Hollywood movies like Bride of Frankenstein and Fantastic Voyage to family-friendly blockbusters like Ant-Man and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. References to these movies and others are strewn throughout the new Peacock limited series The Miniature Wife, but the drawn-out, 10-episode show isn’t a particularly worthwhile addition to the sci-fi shrinking canon. Taking only the title and basic premise from Manuel Gonzales’s 2014 short story, The Miniature Wife stars Elizabeth Banks as Lindy Littlejohn, a once-prominent author who now works as a university professor and has been overshadowed by her scientist husband Les (Matthew Macfadyen). Lindy, you see, feels metaphorically small in both her personal and professional lives, and is about to become literally small following an accident – or is it? – with Les’s potentially world-changing invention, a compound that shrinks …

Matthew Lillard Says Quentin Tarantino Jibes Felt Like A 'Punch In The Mouth'

Matthew Lillard Matthew Lillard has admitted he had a profound reaction to the support he received after Quentin Tarantino’s recent disparaging comments about him.  Late last year, during an interview on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Tarantino said he didn’t “care for” Lillard, as well as taking shots at fellow actors Paul Dano and Owen Wilson.  Talking to People magazine, the Scream actor joked that the outpouring of love he received in the wake of the controversial interview made him feel like he was going to his own funeral. “It felt like I had died and was in heaven watching everyone send out their RIP tweets,” he explained, adding that the likes of George Clooney and Superman director James Gunn had “been really generous” by sticking up for him and “telling me how much they loved me and liked my work”. “I mean, it was really nice being a part of your own wake, sort of sitting there living through all the nice things people say after you die,” the Scooby-Doo star quipped. He admitted …
