The best sound baths in L.A. are happening in mattress stores

I stir in the dark. So do the others. There are around 30 of us, maybe more — all experiencing the soundscape of the quartz bowls; a tech-free hour designed for us to commune with memory, creativity and emotion. A chime brings the sound bath to its formal end, signaling us to reacquaint ourselves with the physical present, to officially “wake up.” Slipping out of blankets and off of tall, puffy mattresses, we give thanks, take a crystal, a mantra card … and leave the giant mattress warehouse for the bright lights of Glendale Boulevard. While not affiliated with any specific modality, the sound bath inside the Atwater Village branch of Mattress Central has a cult-like following. The brainchild of practitioner Alice Moon, the event (which often sells out) is one of many nontraditional wellness offerings from her company Moon Soul Sound Baths. At the monthly event, her patrons gather at the store, select a mattress (alone or with a friend), get cozy and swap the static of the world for the soothing harmonics of …

Travis Kelce-Backed Sleep Number Debuts New Beds: Mattress Prices, Buy

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, The Hollywood Reporter may receive an affiliate commission. Earlier this year, Sleep Number and Travis Kelce announced the start of their strategic partnership, with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and three-time Super Bowl champion doubling as the company’s newest investor. Now, the pioneer in the adjustable, smart bed space has unveiled a fresh lineup of innovative mattresses designed to address customers’ most common sleep needs of comfort, value and durability. Sleep Number’s redesigned portfolio includes seven total mattresses, five of which are new launches, offering shoppers superior personalized support and temperature benefits at multiple price points. This actually narrows down Sleep Number’s mattress inventory from what was previously 12 options. The intention? To simplify the decision process, making it easier for customers to find the right bed for their specific needs. As of March 2026, Sleep Number’s product offerings span three distinct collections: ComfortMode, ComfortNext and Climate. Each category delivers unique benefits and targets a specific price range. Saatva HD Mattress Review: A Solution for Heavy-Bodied Sleepers

Saatva HD Mattress Review: A Solution for Heavy-Bodied Sleepers

A good first step for plus-size sleepers is to look for a hybrid mattress with a taller height. Over the years, I’ve found that a mattress height of 12 inches or more is a good indicator that it’s designed to support larger bodies. Too often, heavier sleepers may find themselves sinking too deeply into the mattress because the materials aren’t firm enough. The mattress can’t push back enough to keep the sleeper hovering atop it, so the sleeper bottoms out and hits the support core of innerspring coils or firm foam. They get none of the benefits of the top layers and generally feel unsupported, which manifests as back pain or achy joints. At 15.5 inches tall, the Saatva HD can’t relate. It’s one of the more heavy-duty hybrid mattresses I’ve come across. Its seven-layer build is true to its “heavy duty” name, with both sides rated to support 500 pounds. The Saatva HD’s firmness level will ultimately depend on the sleeper’s build. I found it to be a true firm mattress, which I’d put …

We asked 815 readers for the best place to buy a mattress – and no, it isn’t John Lewis

We asked 815 readers for the best place to buy a mattress – and no, it isn’t John Lewis

What we asked readers First, we wanted to learn more about the pre-purchase experience. We asked what attracted readers to the brand in the first place, whether they had pre-conceived ideas about its reputation, and how the price compared with other brands. Purchase experience was also important, including interactions with sales representatives or chat bots, the delivery and what it was like to unbox. Then, after months or years of sleeping on the mattress, we wanted to know whether it met our reader’s expectations and how it had fared over time. We asked about its comfort and quality, whether it distributes weight evenly, including at the edges, and how well it absorbs motion. We were also especially interested in back pain support and breathable materials (or lack thereof). Finally we asked whether it was easy to clean and rotate (most weren’t). Telegraph readers’ favourite mattress brands – by the numbers In total, we collected feedback on 78 brands. We were expecting to see the big names, such as Simba, Emma and Tempur, but our readers …

Best Mattress for Back Pain (2026): Saatva, Bear, Helix

Compare Our Top Six Favorite Mattresses for Back Pain Honorable Mentions Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Cooling Mattress for $1,699: If you’re looking for something akin to the Plank Natural that’s firm without being too firm, this is another good pick. It has cooling features, too, which is a nice bonus. DreamCloud Premiere Hybrid for $1,099: This soft mattress was still supportive. I liked sleeping on it, but it didn’t erase my back pain as much as other mattresses we recommend. Still, it was a nice option if you want support without too much firmness as a side sleeper. Essentia Tatami Organic Mattress for $3,435: This mattress is made of a really comfortable organic latex support core that has holes for breathability (and to help with cooling), and the active organic foam center helps spinal alignment and contouring support for pressure points. It doesn’t have coils or springs, but it’s still surprisingly supportive. Leesa Sapira Chill for $1,969: If you’re grappling with whether you want a cooling mattress or a pain-relieving mattress, Leesa’s Sapira Chill is …

The best mattress toppers for a more comfortable night’s sleep, tested | Sleep

The best mattress toppers for a more comfortable night’s sleep, tested | Sleep

A mattress topper is like a slice of cheese in a burger: not strictly necessary, but potentially transformative, especially if your bed has all the cosiness of stale bread. Strap a comfy topper on to a hard mattress, and it could transform the quality of your sleep at significantly less cost than a new mattress. The Guardian’s journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. That’s the promise, anyway. In my neverending quest for a decent night’s kip, I slept on nine bestselling toppers – not all at once, Princess and the Pea style, but for a few nights, each on top of a firm mattress. I was surprised to find so many topper types available, from thick slabs of memory foam to airy cloudbanks of hollowfibre, with one even containing springs. Most of my test toppers went to charity straight after testing, but one improved my sleep so much that I hung on to it for weeks like a teenager refusing to acknowledge that the …

‘We’ve had our mattress for 54 years – our friends are aghast when we tell them’

‘We’ve had our mattress for 54 years – our friends are aghast when we tell them’

It is “used virtually every night” and “I turn and flip it monthly and still get a good night’s sleep”. “The edges are still straight and support me sitting on the side of the bed,” he adds. Reader Sandy has had the same Tempur mattress for around 23 years, costing just under £2,000. “It never needs flipping or turning. It has an outer cover, which you zip off and wash and apart from that, it’s maintenance free.” Following back treatment in 2013, which left her with increased nerve pain and sensitivity in her lower spine, it has been the only bed she could sleep on. Therefore when going on holiday, she uses a 5cm memory foam mattress topper: “It travels everywhere with me and it’s brilliant for sleeping on the plane too.” “Memory foam is an amazing and hard wearing product. I applaud Tempur. The original mattress is still in my view the best,” she says. Extend your mattress life The secret to extending the life of a mattress lies in a mix of maintenance …

In July 2025, it took less than a minute to fracture my collarbone after tumbling off a bike.
