Si Newhouse Built One of the World’s Greatest Art Collections. Tobias Meyer Wants to Sell It to You.

Max Carter, Tobias Meyer, and Alex Rotter Photographer OK McCausland The whole collection is like this, Meyer explained, never the easy works, always the tough ones, the ones Si could get passionate about before anyone. Bill Acquavella struggled for years to sell a late Lucian Freud, a nude self-portrait, a tough one. When Si saw it, he pounced, and it’s still in the collection, one of the many knockouts yet to come to market. What’s remarkable is that Si did sell so much of the collection while he was alive—he basically cleaned house in the ’90s when he moved apartments (David Geffen scooped up the big ones), simply because they couldn’t fit on the walls of the new place. He consigned to auction and to dealers, letting Larry Gagosian put stuff discreetly on the market, floating things out there. “That’s the interesting part that we haven’t talked about, Si’s editing—the ability of the pen to cross out a paragraph,” Meyer said. “He was absolutely unsentimental about selling things. The Escape Game by Marissa Meyer and Tamara Moss

The Escape Game by Marissa Meyer and Tamara Moss

Six months have passed since a contestant on The Escape Game was found dead inside a prop coffin during what should have been a season finale. The show survived. The case did not. And the girl the public decided was responsible is back for another round. Ron DeSantis has transformed from a progressive institute into a staging ground for the Republican governor’s war on “woke.” DeSantis this week named Meyer to the board at New College in Sarasota, which the governor’s allies took over two years ago by packing the board with DeSantis supporters and conservative figures. Meyer currently is a college football analyst for FOX Sports. As head football coach at the University of Florida, Meyer led the Gators to two national championships in 2006 and 2008. Meyer also steered Ohio State’s football team to a national championship in 2014. Meyer was the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 during his only season leading an NFL team. Meyer’s appointment, which is subject to confirmation by the state Senate, was announced Tuesday along with the reappointment of two other New College trustees. DeSantis targeted the tiny school on the shores …
