How to Do Milan Like a GQ Fashion Editor

How to Do Milan Like a GQ Fashion Editor

This is an edition of the newsletter Show Notes, in which Samuel Hine reports from the front row of the fashion world. Sign up here to get it free. Every time I drop by Bar Quadronno in Milan, I think: Thank God this place isn’t in New York or Paris. If a wormhole opened and dropped the convivial wood-paneled joint in practically any other city, it would be mobbed day and night by crowds of wannabe influencers fawning over its tidy panini and perfect aperitivi. But not in Milano. On a Friday afternoon in January, when I had 45 minutes to kill in between runway shows, I found Quadronno—as always—half empty and full of charm. Since 1964, the city’s so-claimed first late-night panini joint has served as a clubhouse for fashion designers like Miuccia Prada and Matthieu Blazy. (I’m telling you: This place is incredible.) Milan is full of Quadronnos, spots with different but equally powerful vibes that have become unpretentious fashion-adjacent watering holes. Some are old, some newer, but all have been protected from …

7 Shoe Trends You’re Going to See Everywhere in Spring 2026

7 Shoe Trends You’re Going to See Everywhere in Spring 2026

Nothing a man wears is as important as his shoes. Studies have actually shown that other people tend to clock the shoes you’re wearing before they register anything else, whether it’s your date, the maître d’, or the sales associate at Hermès. Simply put, your shoes say a ton about you, before you can even say a word. At this time of year, you probably have your winter footwear rotation nailed. But winter is now over (hooray!) and I’m sorry to say that your hulking black derbies just won’t feel as cool once the mercury passes 65F. Paris Hilton Would Like to Remind You that She “Invented Y2K”

Paris Hilton Would Like to Remind You that She “Invented Y2K”

Does she feel a certain way about seeing so many things she wore then revisited on Demna’s Gucci runway, or by other designers and on everyday people? “It just makes me feel really proud and happy, because I invented Y2K fashion,” Hilton says. “I’m happy anytime I see people inspired by my look or seeing things on the runway that remind me of the way I used to dress, and I still do.” On January 30, Infinite Icon: A Visual Memoir was released in theaters. The film is a documentary that traces Hilton’s musical and personal evolution, contextulized around her second studio album, Infinite Icon, released in 2024. “It was incredible being back in the studio and having Sia as my executive producer and writing with her,” Hilton says, “and with my film, just seeing everyone packing the theaters all dressed in pink and velour, I’m just really proud,” she says. Short-Haired Demi Moore (And Her Dog) Stun At Gucci

Short-Haired Demi Moore (And Her Dog) Stun At Gucci

Is Demi Moore going back to her roots? The star, who cemented her fame with a raven pixie cut in 1990’s Ghost, evolved into a long hairstyle in the years since. But on February 27, fans saw a new side of the memoirist and actor. The self-described “hot kooky unhinged grandma” traded her silky raven lengths for a resolutely modern bob, which debuted Friday at the Gucci show at Milan Fashion Week. Wearing a skin-tight black leather jumpsuit and futuristic sunglasses, with her tiny chihuahua, Pilaf, in her arms, the entire look felt straight from The Matrix, if that franchise added the character of a diminutive dog to the mix. In her slick look, Moore stood out from the large crowd gathered at the Palazzo delle Scintille for Demna’s first collection for Gucci. Socialites Paris Hilton, in a red dress, and her sister Nicky, in a floral gown, actor Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu in a lace dress, and model Eva Herzigová were all present. Model Georgina Rodríguez (the fiancée of Cristiano Ronaldo) and her diamonds also took …

Gucci Fall 2026: Demna Wants You to Start Guccimaxxing

Gucci Fall 2026: Demna Wants You to Start Guccimaxxing

Demna is a maestro of attention, and the show was a bet that Gucci can’t be redefined by piles of bankable product, though there were some surefire It bags swinging from the crooks of elbows. Demna is instead trying to generate desire through hardcore attitude. Said the designer: “It’s part of Gucci to celebrate yourself, to be in love, to flirt, all of those things. To be bold, to be daring, to be kind of fearless in some way.” In fact, the clothes felt like accessories to the swaggerful vibe. Many models walked with a fuck-you strut after Demna instructed them to act like exaggerated versions of themselves. EsDeeKid’s fellow underground rap stars Fakemink and Nettspend hit the runway in skater-like skinny jeans and monogrammed fanny packs; the former stopped on the runway at one point to pull out his phone for a few seconds of lazy scrolling. “There are a lot of people on the runway and also in the audience today that I listen to their music, I consume their art,” Demna said …

Vivian Wilson, Estranged Daughter of Elon Musk, Walks For Gucci at Milan Fashion Week 2026

Vivian Wilson, Estranged Daughter of Elon Musk, Walks For Gucci at Milan Fashion Week 2026

Earlier this year, Wilson was even chosen by Rihanna for her Fenty brand’s new lingerie campaign. Last year, Vivian Wilson spoke to Vanity Fair after her first lingerie campaign, for TomboyX: “I was terrified,” she said. “Before this, I was very much the person who, like, didn’t show any skin, ever, at all. Even in my day-to-day, like going to the beach with friends, I would, like, not wear a swimsuit. So it was very, very nerve-racking, but I wanted to do [the shoot] because I wanted to have more confidence in my own body. I do feel confident in my own body, but I wanted to, like, prove that confidence to myself, if that makes any sense. But also I was really scared, but what got me together on the day was the hairstylist and makeup artist, who are two amazing and hyper-talented trans women. We were just joking around and cutting it up before the [shoot].” At the time, she was planning future runway shows, but was concentrating on photo shoots and being …

Nettspend, Fakemink, and EsDeeKid Enter the House of Gucci

Nettspend, Fakemink, and EsDeeKid Enter the House of Gucci

The same sentiment extended to the celebs in the front row, where another viral English rapper, EsDeeKid—the masked Liverpudlian Timothée Chalamet lookalike himself—sat with an enormous croc-leather Gucci bag that he joked was “full of weed.” Demna, a perennial excavator of the zeitgeist, was tapping into a new wave; according to a New York Times interview that was published yesterday, the designer discovered the likes of Mink and EsDee from his Spotify algorithm. “The thing is there are a lot of people on the runway and also in the audience today that I listen to their music, I consume their art,” Demna told my colleague, Samuel Hine, backstage. “I really like what they do and I feel like one of my responsibilities at Gucci is also trying to bring the cultural relevance to it and the cultural relevance always comes from underground culture, not from mainstream, even for a big brand. And I felt like it made sense for me to build my vision and starting to create this Gucci community including these people.” Liverpudlian …

Mark Zuckerberg Sat in Prada’s Front Row at Milan Fashion Week

At any given fashion week, buzzy guests are to be expected in the front row at runway shows. In recent seasons, the usual crowd featuring the entertainment ilk (K-pop idols, internet stars, and actors who have struck deals as “friends of the house”) has increasingly come to include the tech elite. Last month, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, attended Jonathan Anderson’s debut couture show for Dior. Then today, seated front row aside the white-carpeted runway at the Prada fall 2026 womenswear show in Milan, were Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan. The couple, who were both dressed in Prada, arrived shortly before the show began in the company of Anna Wintour and Eva Chen, the director of fashion partnerships at Instagram. Seated next to Miuccia Prada’s son, Lorenzo Bertelli, they observed as messy-haired models in the brand’s signature pointed slingback heels clomped past. Zuckerberg—who has spent the last several years updating his wardrobe—wore a taupe long-sleeved knit polo and dark brown slacks, while Chan sported a …

I Can’t Stop Thinking About These Flirty Little Hats

I Can’t Stop Thinking About These Flirty Little Hats

Many men are comfortable in hats, this much we know. Take the baseball cap, for example—one of few accessories that even the most fashion-averse man needs no convincing to wear. (Ever gotten flack because you refused to take off your Aimé Leon Dore or UMich hat inside of a church or nice restaurant?) The style has enjoyed a long, unchallenged lease on men’s cranial real estate at large, only ever sharing the space with its variants, such as the snug, good-boy ballcap, the lofty, dirtbag trucker, and, during frosty seasons, the beanie. And now, ever since Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons showed Prada’s fall 2026 menswear collection in Milan earlier this week, it seems possible that a nostalgic silhouette may soon take up residence in the ultra-exclusive neighborhood of head-topping men’s accessories: the flirty, cocked newsboy cap. A model in a little hat on the Prada fall 2026 runway. Victor VIRGILE/Getty Images Tweedy, lopsided newsboy caps and floppy, mini bucket hats dotted several of the looks on the Prada runway. (Some models had hats that …
