Charlize Theron really knows how to go above and beyond when it comes to her Hollywood work – quite literally, it might seem!
The Oscar-winning actress, 50, stars in the new Netflix movie Apex about a rock climber who has to escape a hunter while out on the peaks. Taron Egerton and Eric Bana co-star with her.
And to promote the movie, Netflix decided to engage Charlize’s very specific set of skills that she honed specifically for this project – by having her scale a billboard in Manhattan’s Times Square.
As you can see in the video above, the Oscar-winning actress jokingly swore through her climb of a billboard made to emulate a rock wall in the heart of New York City.
Fan respect for the action star clearly was at an apex too, with comments on the video to the tune of: “Netflix got you working overtime,” and: “Charlize doing the most random ahh [expletive] on a Sunday, love that fr,” as well as: “Climbed it like a BOSS.”
And yes, Netflix did indeed confirm it was Charlize herself climbing the billboard, there was no movie magic involved. “I didn’t know if I was going to like it,” the actress told the streamer of training for the film. “I’d never climbed before, except as a kid in Africa climbing trees, which I loved. And I weirdly climbed barefoot, so I was kind of prepping for this movie without knowing it.”
