The BBC has unveiled a first look at the upcoming mystery series, Marble Hall Murders, based on the best-selling novel by Anthony Horowitz. Police have not confirmed the name of the 47-year-old former soldier who was arrested Tuesday. But he has been widely reported in the media to be Roberts-Smith, a former Special Air Service Regiment corporal who was awarded both the Victoria Cross and Medal of Gallantry for his service in Afghanistan. Police charged him Tuesday with five counts of war crime murder. He will remain in custody overnight and make his first court appearance on Wednesday, a police statement said. The world of British television and theatre is in mourning following the death of Desmond Barrit at the age of 81. Best known to ITV viewers for his standout roles in the iconic crime drama Midsomer Murders, the Olivier Award-winning actor was an inspiration to many, including fellow actor Joseph Millson who starred alongside him.  The sad news was announced online by various production companies and fellow actors. His co-star Joseph, who briefly appeared in the ITV crime drama, had said: “So sad to hear of the passing of Des Barrit.  “I was in three productions with him, each a real flag in the sand for my career. Des was a kind mess of humanity and a consummate actor every single time. So many stories. Fare forward friend.”  Desmond appeared as Raymond Clandillon in season 10 of Midsomer Murders in 2007. A suspect has appeared in court charged with two attempted murders amid an alleged stabbing in Edinburgh. Armed police locked down the Calder Gardens area of the Scottish capital following reports of a man with a bladed weapon at about 8.25am on Monday. Kokoneh appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he made no plea to eight separate charges. On 7 August 1985, five people were found dead at White House Farm in Essex, England: 28-year-old Sheila Caffell (familiarly known as Bambi); her six-year-old twin sons Daniel and Nicholas; and her adoptive parents, June and Nevill Bamber. All five had been shot with a rifle. Caffell’s 24-year-old brother Jeremy Bamber, who was also adopted, had alerted Essex police to a disturbance inside the farmhouse – he said his father had called to tell him – and had been outside with the police for four hours before the bodies were discovered. Caffell, who had recently been hospitalised with schizophrenia and is said to have feared her children were going to be taken into foster care, was found with the rifle lying on her chest, pointing towards her neck. There were two gunshot wounds to her neck and chin, and a bloodied Bible by her side. The case was initially thought to be open and shut, a tragic murder-suicide committed by Caffell. An accused serial killer in South Korea used ChatGPT to help plan a string of murders, investigators alleged Thursday. The 21-year-old woman, identified by her surname Kim, is accused of killing two men by giving them drinks laced with benzodiazepines that she was prescribed for a mental illness, according to reports from The Korea Herald and the BBC.  Investigators found that, before the men’s deaths, Kim had asked ChatGPT about the risks of administering the drugs. “What happens if you take sleeping pills with alcohol?” she allegedly prompted the AI chatbot. “How much would be considered dangerous?” And, “Could it be fatal?” Kim was initially arrested on February 11 on the lesser charge of inflicting bodily injury resulting in death. But she’s now being charged on two counts of murder, after investigators determined she had intent to kill based on her online activity, per the Korea Herald. “Kim repeatedly asked questions related to drugs on ChatGPT,” an investigator said, as quoted by the newspaper. “She was fully aware that consuming alcohol together with drugs could …

The Brokenwood Mysteries, the popular detective drama that has been likened to Midsomer Murders, is proving to be a hit on one UK streaming service. The series, which hails from New Zealand, is perfect for cosy crime fans. The series sees Neill Rea and Fern Sutherland assume the central roles of Mike Shepherd and Kristin Sims, a pair of mismatched detectives who slowly build a camaraderie as they solve crimes in the quiet town of Brokenwood. After premiering in 2014, the detective drama has enjoyed great success, with its most recent season – the 11th in total – hitting the small screen in April 2025. In the UK, The Brokenwood Mysteries airs on U&Drama, and it has proven to be a hit on the network’s accompanying streaming service. Fans of Dinosaur don’t have long to wait as the beloved sitcom will be back soon with its second season, and the BBC has dropped the first look at the upcoming series. First airing back in 2024, the first season of Dinosaur followed Nina (Ashley Storrie), an autistic palaeontologist working at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, whose life is upended when her sister, Evie (Kat Ronney) announces that she’s engaged to Ranesh (Danny Ashok). The series was positively received when it first aired, even winning a BAFTA Award for Best Writing, which ultimately led to the show being recommissioned for a second season. Fans were also positive, with one hailing Dinosaur as a “gem of a show” while another called it “brilliant”. The show will pick up eight months after the conclusion of the first season and sees Nina far away from her Glasgow-based family as she takes part at a fossil dig on the Isle of Wight.
