Fashion is inherently nostalgic. We often look back in order to look forward – it’s how trends are born. So far, 2026 has witnessed the return of the peacoat, Topshop’s epic comeback and the tutu skirt renaissance. There are even whispers of the skinny jean revival. Cue the Neyo hits and glimmering blue eyeshadow. The latest item to unearth itself from the sartorial archives? The wedge sneaker – one of the most divisive styles to emerge from the industry’s shoewear department. Let me take you back to 2012. French house Isabel Marant debuts the iconic Bekett Sneaker, defined by a suede exterior, an incorporated wedged heel, a high top silhouette and velcro-strap detailing. Within months, the kicks have been worn by stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Lindsay Lohan and, perhaps most famously, Beyoncé – who sported a pair for her Love On Top music video. On September 5, 2006, in an operation conducted not by surgeons but by museum curators, a nameless Athenian man had his severed foot reattached. The foot—a chunk of marble—had been returned to Athens by Germany’s Heidelberg University, where it had arrived sometime before 1871, perhaps filched out of the Parthenon’s ruins by a German tourist. The restoration marked the first time that a piece of the Parthenon frieze—a bas-relief masterpiece that once wrapped around the 524-foot perimeter of the building’s main chamber, inside its colonnade—had been returned to Greece since the early nineteenth century, when about half the frieze, along with a host of other Acropolis sculptures, was taken out of the country. The mastermind and sponsor of that removal was a Scottish nobleman, Thomas Bruce, Earl of Elgin; the collection of sculptures he exported, purchased in 1816 by the British government and exhibited in the British Museum to this day, has come to be known as the Elgin Marbles. Florals for spring – you know the drill. Blossom pink hues, petal silhouettes and foliage detailing bloom right on cue each year when the sun decides to rear its head and thaw the muted palettes of winter.  Yet, one corner of the fashion industry that has remained fairly untouched by the feminine theme is footwear, more specifically, boots.  Floral boots boast a history as vibrant as their aesthetic. The fashion sphere takes great pleasure in transforming humble staples into the season’s most coveted pieces. Next on the styling-hack agenda is none other than your plaid shirt. Yes – the one buried deep in your wardrobe, untouched since your school-uniform days or that brief era when we all dabbled in grunge rebellion. But today, this lumberjack-inspired staple has been reworked, giving checkered flannel shirts a decidedly cool resurgence. Expect bold colour clashes for maximalist moments, or monochrome versions with subtle prints for low-key everyday styling.  If you were a fan of the styling scarves as belts during the summer, consider the plaid shirt as the autumn/winter reinterpretation. I’m not easily influenced. In fact, I’m loving the ‘de-influencer’ trend that’s currently taking over TikTok. However, earlier this week, I dropped the ball. During my ritual pre-bed doomscroll (health is wealth guys), I came across a content creator’s post that listed her tips for how to prepare for the new year.  One of the pointers included in her meticulously crafted carousel caught my eye – making a moodboard. What started out as a perfect excuse to mess around on Canva (a favourite pastime of the H! Fashion girls), turned out to be a wholly cathartic activity. Influencer – 1, Anti-influencer – 0.  What did I envision for 2026? The obvious, such as Dua Lipa-inspired holidays, career growth, good health, plenty of sleep and puppies. Yet, the exercise prompted deeper consideration as to what I truly wanted to squeeze out of the 365 days ahead. This year’s Critics Choice Awards were a night to remember for Timothée Chalamet. The 30-year-old won the prestigious Best Actor award for his new critically acclaimed movie Marty Supreme, pipping Leonardo DiCaprio to the post As always, Kylie Jenner was in attendance to support her beau, whom he gave a shoutout to in his award-winning speech. But before we get to what he said about the youngest Kardashian/Jenner sister, we need to give an honourable mention to her incredible dress for the occasion. The 28-year-old oozed after-hours glamour in a vintage FW 1996 Gianni Versace Couture gown, purchased from Tab Vintage, styled by Mackenzie Grandquist and Alexandra Rose Grandquist.
