Hacks has been a perennial Emmy Awards contender since its first year of eligibility in 2021. The HBO Max comedy earned 64 nominations for its first four seasons, winning 12 times. The show’s final season, however, surpassed all of its predecessors — and every other comedy series in Emmy Awards history — with a record 24 nominations (or 25, including one for the short-form series Hacks: Bit by Bit). Downs and Jen Statsky used the word “overwhelming” to describe their feelings after learning their show had broken and Emmy nominations record Wednesday. “It’s obviously our last go round for the Emmys, so it feels like such an incredible way to end,” Downs told The Hollywood Reporter. “The fact that so many of [the cast and crew] are being recognized, and for the first time for many of them, just feels incredibly gratifying. Because we could not have made this …

Colbert and Kimmel in Emmys 2026 Variety Series Nominations

And the 2026 Emmy nominees for best variety series are… The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Saturday Night Live! In other words, the five shows The Hollywood Reporter (and probably you) predicted. So the Television Academy voters went chalk, which left out dark-horse candidate Hot Ones — the viral Sean Evans-hosted talk show could have been the first YouTube series ever nominated in the category. Maybe next year. It was not all a yawn, however: the Emmy Awards‘ variety series category itself has a new look this year. Emmy Nominations 2026 Predictions: See All of Our Picks

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES Marisa Abela, IndustryIsa Briones, The PittTaylor Dearden, The PittAllison Janney, The DiplomatKatherine LaNasa, The PittSepideh Moafi, The PittJulianne Nicholson, Paradise Last year, Katherine LaNasa pulled off an upset win in this category over four actresses from The White Lotus for her work as plucky head nurse Dana Evans on The Pitt—the first sign of the Emmy love for HBO Max’s emergency room drama. With no new season of White Lotus this year, expect a few more fan favorites from the reigning champion drama to fill those slots. Though The Pitt has several viable contenders, we think Taylor Dearden’s neurodivergent Dr. Mel King, Sepideh Moafi’s defiant newcomer Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, and Isa Briones’s cocksure Dr. Trinity Santos are most likely to join LaNasa here as well. Outside of the hospital, Emmy darlings Julianne Nicholson and Allison Janney should score nominations for their work on Paradise and The Diplomat, respectively. That leaves one slot open, which could easily go to another Pitt actress, Pluribus love interest Karolina Wydra, or, gasp, …
