HBO Chief Casey Bloys on Heated Rivalry Season 2, Emmy Noms

HBO Chief Casey Bloys on Heated Rivalry Season 2, Emmy Noms

Under creative chief Casey Bloys, as his staff is quick to remind, HBO has been dominating the Emmys for a while now. In the decade since the former development exec ascended to the top entertainment role (current title: chair and CEO of HBO and Max Content), the platform has had more nominations than any other in all but three years. That trend continued this year. Thanks to shows like The Pitt and Hacks, which collected the most (25) and second-most (24) noms, HBO garnered 122 total slots, eleven more than second-place Netflix, which some thought might take the 2026 crown.  AppleTV+ also had a very strong year — its 87 total noms were enough to lead combined drama and comedy categories — but it’s hard to deny that HBO still rules the game. And that’s without the platform’s buzziest show, Heated Rivalry, eligible for prizes. (The network acquired the Canadian series, and only U.S. productions are eligible.) Of course, things in television can change in a Pitt-like minute. And they well might, given that next year at this time HBO could be owned by David …

Warner Bros. Wows With 30 Noms as Rival Studios Snubbed

Warner Bros. Wows With 30 Noms as Rival Studios Snubbed

What began as one battle after another for Warner Bros. movie chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy has transformed into an embarrassment of riches. On Thursday, the studio landed a jaw-dropping 30 nominations, tying its own record set in 2005. This time, the bounty was led by Ryan Cooger’s Sinners with 16 — the most nominations ever awarded to a single film. The previous record was 14 (All About Eve, Titanic, La La Land.) Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, followed with 13, the second-best showing of the day. Both are original films that many in Hollywood said would never work because they weren’t commercial enough. Even Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav was worried, with Abdy and De Luca coming under intense scrutiny in the early part of 2025 after several misses. Then came a box office winning streak that sent naysayers scurrying. Both films worked, as did Zach Cregger’s Weapons, from Warners’ New Line division. “This is a truly golden moment for our company and also a powerful …

Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal Land IFTA Noms (Full List)

The 2026 awards race has officially reached Ireland. Jessie Buckley, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cillian Murphy are among the top stars nominated at the Irish Film & TV Awards (IFTA) this year ahead of the Feb. 14 ceremony at Dublin’s Royal Convention Centre. She’ll be competing against Carolyn Bracken (Horseshoe), Carrie Crowley (Aontas), Fionna Flanagan (Four Mothers), Eleanor O’Brien (Báite) and Fiona Shaw (Hot Milk). Hamnet is also up for best international film at the 21st IFTAs, alongside Bugonia, One Battle After Another, Palestine ’36, Sentimental Value and Sinners. Elsewhere, Day-Lewis scores a nod for his starring role in Anemone, directed by his son Ronan. Murphy is nominated for his performance in Tim Mielants’ school-set Steve. Steve Coogan (Saipan), Colin Farrell (Ballad of a Small Player), Éanna Hardwicke (Saipan) and Daniel Power (Christy) round out the category. Brendan Canty’s Christy leads IFTA’s film nominations with 14 in total — including for best film, best director, and acting nods for …
