Mediocre 30Y Auction Has First Tail Since November

Mediocre 30Y Auction Has First Tail Since November

After a solid 3Y auction and a tepid 10Y auction earlier this week, moments ago the Treasury concluded the final coupon auction of the week, when it sold $22 billion in a 30 year reopening in what was another average auction. The sale stopped at a high yield of 4.876%, virtually unchanged from 4.871% a month ago and the highest since last July. It also tailed the When Issued 4.871% by 0.5bps, the first tail since November. The bid to cover was 2.385, down from 2.452 in March and the lowest since December ’25.  The internals were in line: Indirects were awarded 64.14%, up from 63.4% in March but below the six-auction average of 66.8%. And with Directs down to 24.23% from 27.23% (above the recent average of 22.9%), dealers were left holding 11.6%, the most since January. Overall, this was a mediocre 30Y auction, with average stats resulting in the first tail for the tenor since last November, yet with markets still only focused on Iran there was virtually no little market reaction. US Home Prices Surged In November As Mortgage Rates Tumble

US Home Prices Surged In November As Mortgage Rates Tumble

For the fourth straight month, US home prices rose on a MoM basis in November (according to the admittedly lagged and smoothed Case-Shiller data released today). The 0.47% MoM rise is the hottest since Dec 2024 Source: Bloomberg On a year-over-year basis, there is a very modest inflection higher in the price appreciation (up from +1.32% to +1.39%). “November’s results confirm that the housing market has entered a period of tepid growth,” said Nicholas Godec, CFA, CAIA, CIPM, Head of Fixed Income Tradables & Commodities at S&P Dow Jones Indices. Regional patterns continue to illustrate a stark divergence. Chicago leads all cities for a second consecutive month with a 5.7% year-over-year price increase, followed by New York at 5.0% and Cleveland at 3.4%. These historically steady Midwestern and Northeastern markets have maintained respectable gains even as overall conditions cool. By contrast, Tampa home prices are 3.9% lower than a year ago – the steepest decline among the 20 cities, extending that market’s 13-month streak of annual drops. Other Sun Belt boomtowns remain under pressure as …

All the Queer Books I Read in November

All the Queer Books I Read in November

First up, the All the Books books! There’s Always Next Year by Leah Johnson and George M. Johnson is a cute YA romance with two points of view and two queer romances (M/M and F/F). Almost the entire book takes place on New Year’s Day, and it felt like a teen holiday movie—if those movies starred queer Black teens, which they should. The Curse of the Cole Women by Marielle Thompson was my other ATB pick. It’s a sapphic gothic novel, which I can’t get enough of. This one follows three generations of women who take care of a lighthouse on a tiny island. They’ve been cursed so that there are only ever two Cole women: when the youngest gets pregnant, her mother walks into the sea. My favourite storyline was, of course, the one with two women falling in love in the 1950s while building a library together. (Check the content warnings on this one, though: it’s definitely not a romance novel.) My book club convinced me to finally pick up one of the …

Book Censorship News, November 28, 2025

Prepare Your Library Before January Arrives, November 2024 “Public libraries have been under attack for several years, as have the people working within them. We know that what happens in public schools makes its way to the public libraries, often by the very same people wrecking hell upon those schools. Here are some of the things that public libraries, as well as public school libraries where applicable, should be considering right now to prepare for the new administration. There are fewer than two months—and honestly, about one month with the holidays—to shore up your institutions to make them as strong and solid for the community as possible. As always, some of these things may be more managerial-level actions, rather than things the average library worker can do. But also as always, it is the average library worker who can advocate and champion these changes from the ground floor. You live and work them in a different way and speaking up matters. If it’s never been your style, this may be a good opportunity to strengthen that group of muscles.” …

ADP Weekly Employment Report Signals Weakening Labor Market In November

ADP Weekly Employment Report Signals Weakening Labor Market In November For the four weeks ending Nov. 8, 2025, ADP reports that private employers shed an average of 13,500 jobs a week, considerably worse than than the last couple of weeks. That is the worst ‘monthly’ average since August “Consumer strength remains in question as we enter the holiday hiring season,” says Nela Richardson of ADP, adding that “might be playing into delayed or curtailed job creation.” This is certainly not good news, but it does shift the dove/hawk argument at The Fed to pro-cut side and we see odds rise for December… Is this bad news good enough to support the Santa Claus Rally? 3 Zodiac Signs Pass An Important Test From The Universe On November 25, 2025

On November 25, 2025, three zodiac signs pass an important test from the universe. Mercury conjunct Venus brings us some fabulous opportunities for love, truth, and understanding, but it will also test how honest we are with ourselves and others. That’s a big one, and the test of the day is all about getting through it. When these two planets form a conjunction, communication becomes emotional, and hidden tensions rise to the surface. The test lies in how we respond. Will it be with ego or with grace? On November 25, words carry extra weight. For these astrological signs, it’s as if the universe places a mirror before us. The test isn’t meant to break us, however. It’s here to help strengthen our integrity and our ability to love unconditionally. 1. Aries Design: YourTango The transit Mercury conjunct Venus hands you a moment of truth, Aries, and this is when you figure out if you like it or not. You may be called to apologize, clarify your intentions, or admit something you’ve been avoiding. It’s …
