Take-Two prices ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ at .99, sticks to November 19 launch

Take-Two prices ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ at $79.99, sticks to November 19 launch

June 24 : Take-Two Interactive Software on Wednesday priced “Grand Theft Auto VI” at $79.99 and stuck to its previously announced November 19 release date, bringing the industry’s most anticipated title closer to launch after multiple delays. The price makes “GTA VI” one of the most expensive base versions of a top-tier game, pushing it above the $69.99 ceiling that blockbusters such as Sony’s “Ghost of Yōtei” and Nintendo’s “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” have held for years. The “Ultimate Edition” of the game will cost $99.99 and add exclusive vehicles, weapons and apparel woven into the story of Jason and Lucia, the protagonists of the game. Shares of Take-Two rose nearly 3 per cent in premarket trading. Joost van Dreunen, games professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business, said the pricing was unlikely to dent sales, calling “$80 a rounding error against the anticipation.” He said the price could set a new benchmark for blockbuster titles with few substitutes but was unlikely to apply to mid-tier publishers. “GTA VI doesn’t lift all …

Veteran California US House Member Mike Thompson Will Face Democratic Challenger in November

Veteran California US House Member Mike Thompson Will Face Democratic Challenger in November

Democrat Eric Jones on Friday advanced to the November ballot in a Northern California congressional district, where he will face fellow Democratic Rep. Mike Thompson in the latest generational battle within the party. Jones, a 35-year-old former venture capitalist, took the second slot in California’s top-two, nonpartisan June 2 primary for the state’s 4th Congressional District. Thompson was first elected to the U.S. House in 1998 after serving as a state lawmaker. Having two Democrats on the ballot will ensure that the district, which includes the Napa-Sonoma wine country and stretches across a wide swath of Northern California north of the state capital, will remain in Democratic hands. The race becomes the second generational challenge against a California U.S. House Democrat. Rep. Doris Matsui, 81, replaced her late husband in the House when he died in 2005. She is facing a challenge from 41-year-old Sacramento City Councilwoman Mai Vang. In Los Angeles, 15-term Rep. Brad Sherman successfully fended off a younger Democratic challenger who did not advance to the November ballot because he failed to …

Progressive Nithya Raman advances to November runoff against Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass

Progressive Nithya Raman advances to November runoff against Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass

Gina Ferazzi | Ronaldo Bolaños | Los Angeles Times | Getty Images Progressive city council member Nithya Raman has advanced to a November runoff against Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, setting up an unexpected matchup between two Democrats and former political allies to run the struggling city of nearly 4 million. The outcome means Spencer Pratt, a Republican and former reality television personality from “The Hills,” is out of the running. His candidacy had drawn national attention because of his celebrity and willingness to challenge liberal governance in a city dominated by Democrats, but the buzz did not translate into enough votes to make the runoff. Raman made a last-minute entry into the race, after she had endorsed Bass for reelection. She was elected to the council with the support of the Democratic Socialists of America, and the election will test whether voters in the heavily Democratic city want to move further to the political left to address long-running problems of homelessness, buckled streets and sidewalks and climbing rent and …

Matsui Advances to November Ballot in Reelection Bid for California Congressional Seat

Matsui Advances to November Ballot in Reelection Bid for California Congressional Seat

California Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui advanced to the November ballot on Friday after facing a reelection challenge from a younger Democrat. Matsui, 81, has been in Congress since she replaced her late husband, former Rep. Bob Matsui, in the Sacramento-based seat in 2005. In a statement referencing the upcoming runoff, Matsui vowed to “earn the trust of voters for another term in Congress.” She faced a primary challenge from fellow Democrat Mai Vang, a member of the Sacramento City Council, and is one of several older Democrats challenged by younger insurgents this year. The second slot on the general election ballot has not yet been determined, but Vang issued a statement saying she was optimistic with the direction in which the count was moving. “This is what people power looks like,” Vang said. Two other House Democrats facing younger challengers, Reps. Brad Sherman in Los Angeles and Mike Thompson in Northern California, advanced to the general election as well. But California’s House primaries were most significant for being the first test of whether Democrats are …

Column: MAGA still loves Trump. What does that mean for November?

Column: MAGA still loves Trump. What does that mean for November?

Tuesday night, America voted in primary elections and the big winner was President Trump. One after another, his enemies — and by that I mean anyone who has ever done anything other than grovel — were defeated in elections across the country. Rep. Thomas Massie, the Kentucky Republican, was perhaps the most high-profile candidate to go down in flames. Massie, you may recall, joined with his California Democratic colleague Ro Khanna to campaign for the release of the Epstein files, which made Trump big-mad since his name is in them a lot. The Trump-endorsed candidate Ed Gallrein won instead. “You are ruled by the Epstein class that cares nothing about you,” former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, also a victim of Trump’s ire, posted on social media after Massie’s loss. “Tonight the future of the Republican Party was destroyed.” But was it? Or is it simply now crystal clear that it is a party that will follow its leader, no matter the consequence — even personal ruin? And if Trump still wields this much power …

In this file photo, stickers sit on a table inside a polling place on Nov. 5, 2024, in Atlanta. Brynn Anderson/AP hide caption toggle caption Brynn Anderson/AP ATLANTA — Tuesday’s primary elections in Georgia have been defined by record-setting fundraising, contentious Republican primaries and turnout driven by enthusiastic Democrats. Many of the marquee races are likely to head to June 16 runoffs, as Republicans will decide who faces incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and both parties sift through a crowded field of candidates for governor. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp is term-limited. Both the Senate and gubernatorial contests are expected to be among the most competitive in November. In the wake of last month’s Supreme Court decision weakening part of the Voting Rights Act, there is also increased attention on two nonpartisan Georgia Supreme Court seats on the ballot that Democrats seek to flip. Like every other state that has held a primary election in 2026, a surge in turnout has been dominated by Democrats. More than a million Georgians cast their ballots before Election Day, …

Johnson backs states redistricting ahead of November midterms

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Thursday that other states should redraw their congressional maps in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that Louisiana’s addition of a second majority-Black congressional district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. “The Supreme Court said that in Louisiana’s case, it was blatantly unconstitutional,” Johnson told CNN’s Manu Raju in… Source link

Mediocre 30Y Auction Has First Tail Since November

Mediocre 30Y Auction Has First Tail Since November

After a solid 3Y auction and a tepid 10Y auction earlier this week, moments ago the Treasury concluded the final coupon auction of the week, when it sold $22 billion in a 30 year reopening in what was another average auction. The sale stopped at a high yield of 4.876%, virtually unchanged from 4.871% a month ago and the highest since last July. It also tailed the When Issued 4.871% by 0.5bps, the first tail since November. The bid to cover was 2.385, down from 2.452 in March and the lowest since December ’25.  The internals were in line: Indirects were awarded 64.14%, up from 63.4% in March but below the six-auction average of 66.8%. And with Directs down to 24.23% from 27.23% (above the recent average of 22.9%), dealers were left holding 11.6%, the most since January. Overall, this was a mediocre 30Y auction, with average stats resulting in the first tail for the tenor since last November, yet with markets still only focused on Iran there was virtually no little market reaction.
