Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s Onscreen Wedding Is Big Drama. These 8 Real-Life Unions Have Them Beat.

Any wedding involving one of the world’s richest men was bound to make news. But Bezos and Sánchez’s starry three-day celebration in Venice sparked major backlash among the Italian locals concerned for their floating home: Venice has sunk about 10 inches in the last century as water levels around it have also risen, and an influx of visitors, they worried, would exacerbate the situation. “Let’s make sure that Venice is not remembered as a postcard venue where Bezos had his wedding but as the city that did not bend to oligarchs,” protester Na Haby Stella Faye said at the time, according to The New York Times. “We have a chance to disrupt a $10 million wedding—let’s do it.” Reuters reported that security concerns stemming from the locals’ pre-wedding protests prompted the bride and groom to change their wedding-party venue. From June 26 to 28, the city was plastered with posters featuring Bezos’s head on a rocket and messages like this one: “In the time it takes to read this, Jeff Bezos’ wealth has increased more …

Joseph Fiennes talks Young Sherlock origin story and playing his nephew’s on-screen father

Add Young Sherlock to your watchlist Joseph, why did you take this role? I love the idea of an origin story, where we see how Sherlock evolves from a misfit to a brilliant mind – and I loved the idea of ripping up a piece. The purists might be anxious, but I think it gives it a great vitality, muscularity, wit and adventure. Were you a Sherlock Holmes fan? I grew up with the Jeremy Brett version [on ITV], he was wonderful. There was a suspicion that Sherlock might be on opioids, but we never knew what led to the solitude and the reclusiveness. Exploring where the demons evolved from is really interesting. I love the idea of an origin story Joseph Fiennes What was it like to work with your nephew, Hero? Once you get past the, “Oh my God, we’re relatives in the same scene together”, you’re just actors doing a job. Playing father and son, we get the connection for free, which is lovely. And it was sheer joy. He’s a real …

Red Dwarf co-creator teases potential on-screen return – with new cast

Red Dwarf’s creators, cast, and fans have been trying to get the beloved show back on screens for years – and now, co-creator Rob Grant has revealed a new glimmer of hope for the comedy sci-fi. Grant and fellow writer Andrew Marshall have recently announced a prequel novel, set for release in July, which will follow Lister, Rimmer and co. as they take shore leave on Titan before the events of the TV series. However, Grant has exclusively revealed to Radio Times that he initially had hopes that his new story would be developed for screens – and he’s not ruling it out in future. Asked whether he would be interested in the prequel making its way to screens, Grant responded: “Yes! We originally wrote it as a treatment for a TV spin-off and took it around, but it’s horribly expensive, and we couldn’t really raise enough interest.” He added: “We might down the line… we’ve been talking to streamers about it but, when you read it, [you’ll realise] it’s a whole world you’d have …

What John Travolta’s on-screen teenage daughter from Face/Off Dominique Swain is up to now

What John Travolta’s on-screen teenage daughter from Face/Off Dominique Swain is up to now

Sitting around the dinner table with John Travolta as he checks your homework is, naturally, an experience limited to his three children with his late wife Kelly Preston. That is, unless you’re Dominique Swain. The actress got her start working alongside John, as well as Nicolas Cage, in Face/Off  (1977) and as the titular character in Lolita.  We’re catching up on Dominique’s continuing work in show business, her long-term boyfriend and that first role that brought her into the company of Grease’‘s Danny Zuko. Though, expect fewer hand jives, kitschy school dances, and illegal races — face-swapping FBI hunts work up enough of a sweat. © Ron Galella Collection via Getty Dominique Swain starred in Face/Off alongside John Travolta and Nicholas Cage Who is Dominique Swain? Dominique Swain debuted in the US with a supporting role in Face/Off (1997), alongside John Travolta, before starring as the titular role in Adrian Lyne’s controversial adaptation of Lolita, which released in the US in 1978. Based on the 1955 novel by Vladimir Nabokov, the story traces a literature …

Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet reveals why on-screen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson wasn’t invited to his wedding

Modern Family alum Eric Stonestreet has opened up about his low-key wedding – and why almost none of his friends were invited. Appearing on the January 13 episode of Dinner’s on Me, hosted by his longtime castmate – and onscreen husband – Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Stonestreet revealed that he and his wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, quietly tied the knot in September 2025 with an intentionally tiny guest list. © Getty ImagesEric with his new wife Lindsay Schweitzer “We didn’t invite anyone to our wedding other than our family,” Eric explained, noting that even those invited didn’t receive formal invitations. Instead, he made what he jokingly described as a “non-invitation” phone call just days before the ceremony. “The equivalent to an invitation was a phone call that said, ‘Hey, this is your non-invitation – because we love you and we want you to know first,’” he said. After the ceremony, the couple sent out a pre-written text announcement to everyone else. © InstagramEric and Lindsay on their wedding day The secrecy extended to family members too, including …

Jennifer Lawrence shares why on-screen sex scenes are ‘easier’ with strangers

Speaking Wednesday with Josh Horowitz at the 92nd Street Y, the Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook star revealed that on the first day of her latest film, Die My Love, she and co-star Robert Pattinson had to film a “naked sex tiger” scene, despite being complete strangers in real life. “It was actually easier that way,” Lawrence clarified, per People magazine, “because Rob and I did not know each other. Which is kind of better, you know?” Explaining her logic, she said that having to share a kiss with a friend, as she did in The Hunger Games with Josh Hutcherson, was “weirder.” “Imagine it,” she laughed. “So yeah, doing it with a stranger is preferable.” …

On-screen assessments could be introduced by 2030

On-screen assessments could be introduced by 2030

More from this theme Recent articles On-screen exams could be introduced for some GCSE and A-level subjects by 2030, the head of Ofqual has said, in a big step towards making exams digital. Ofqual plans to allow exam boards to introduce up to two on-screen specifications for GCSEs and A-level qualifications with less than 100,000 entries per year. Chief regulator Sir Ian Bauckham said it was “important to start small” and that Ofqual will “have a very close eye to fairness” when assessing proposals. It comes after a three-year-long research project by the regulator and the Department for Education, published today, identified “potential benefits” but also “significant challenges” for on-screen exams. Ofqual has launched a consultation on its proposals running until March 5. The regulator then plans to hold a technical consultation next year, and if plans proceed, exam boards can then submit proposals. Boards have praised Ofqual’s “rigorous approach” despite plans limiting the scope of subjects eligible for on-screen assessments in the near future. What subjects could have on-screen assessments? Exam boards were developing …
