Photograph: Joseph Okpako/WireImage “Dressed like a fabulously turned-out carrion crow,” is how our reviewer described the gothic, avian-like get-up PJ Harvey wore to perform her journalistic and theatrical ninth album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, in Brixton, south London, in 2016. The dress was the work of Harvey’s longtime friend, the Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester, and epitomises the more dramatic stage looks – melodramatic but pared-back – that Harvey turned to for her later, darker albums. As she said of the clothes: “For me, it’s about the ability to meet the world. And it is a second skin, isn’t it? It’s protection, as well. It’s a very big part of clothing, the feeling of protection, particularly in Ann’s clothes.” Who would have thought that someone who earlier in their career took to the stage in Spice Girls co-ords and hot-pink catsuits would wind up in such serious Belgian high-fashion? Why Justin Bieber Played YouTube Onstage for Thousands of People

Why Justin Bieber Played YouTube Onstage for Thousands of People

When word started to arrive earlier this month that Justin Bieber had put on a pretty weird performance for the first of his two Coachella sets, my protective instinct kicked in. Discovered on YouTube when he was young and that platform was even younger, Bieber is pop culture’s great test case for what growing up online and in public does to a person. Ever-seesawing between scandals and successes, he’s conveyed a lesson that the world keeps relearning: We need to give our social-media stars a little grace. Bieber’s first concert in four years was indeed a bit surprising, in that it was a full-on confrontation with the alienation and idiosyncrasies of a generation that has grown up watching YouTube. In front of a sprawling crowd at the most important American musical festival—with a daily attendance of 125,000—he spent a good deal of time … browsing the internet. Hunched over a laptop, he pulled up videos and performances from earlier in his career and alternated between singing along and just bobbing his head to the sound …

Justin Bieber Scrolled His Own YouTube Videos Onstage During a Surprisingly Emotional Coachella Set

Justin Bieber Scrolled His Own YouTube Videos Onstage During a Surprisingly Emotional Coachella Set

What do you think of when you hear the phrase “Justin Bieber concert”? Do you imagine royal purple confetti and a mop of hair swooshing to and fro? Perhaps an army of exuberant dancers, commanded by a teenager in harem pants? Do you imagine, rather than a completed concert, the spectre of a canceled one, as was the case with many of Bieber’s Justice Tour shows back in 2022? Push these images to the back of your memory closet, and replace them with Justin Bieber’s 2026 Coachella set: a gently swirling light show, a laptop on a stand, and a be-hoodied singer in a pair of sturdy galoshes doing delicate laps of the stage. The Canadian singer-songwriter dispensed with the teenybopper-stimulating pomp of his earlier days on last year’s SWAG and SWAG II, largely stripped-down ventures into lo-fi bedroom pop and warm, retro R&B; his Grammy performance in February saw him looping the simple guitar part to his hit song “YUKON” in just shorts and socks, his voice as elastic and angelic as it’s ever …

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw cheered on by daughter Audrey in onstage shout-out

Audrey McGraw is just as proud of her parents as they are of her. The 24-year-old is a budding singer, following in the footsteps of her country music icon parents Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, who she just shouted out during her latest gig. In addition to the “Purple Flowers” singer, the 1883 co-stars, who have been married since 1996, are also parents to daughters Gracie, 28, and Maggie, 27. © Getty ImagesTim at the Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee Press Conference Audrey, performing at Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas on Friday, March 20, took a moment to shout out her parents, particularly her dad Tim, who just some hours prior was named a 2026 inductee of the Country Music Hall of Fame.  In videos circulating online, Audrey appears saying: “I come from a Mississippi woman and a Louisiana man, who just got inducted into the Country Hall of Fame. I’m so, so proud of my dad. Both of my parents. I love them so much.” “Speaking of my dad, he had me …

At Liza Book Event, the Story Onstage Didn’t Match the One in the Book

At a Los Angeles event celebrating the release of her memoir Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!, Liza Minnelli was introduced, repeatedly and reverently, as a living legend. Which she is. But what unfolded onstage was something far more complicated. The evening began with a level of theatricality that felt almost defiant. It was set inside the Million Dollar Theater, an historic downtown venue where Minnelli’s mother, Judy Garland, once performed in a vaudeville review as part of The Gumm Sisters. The 2,000-seat theater was at capacity; each $90 ticket included a copy of the memoir. A full production number — male and female dancers moving through Fosse-esque choreography — gave way to a sequined majorette performing flaming baton tricks in front of a curtain. When it finally parted, Minnelli was revealed seated in a director’s chair, like an icon being unveiled. It was a striking image. It was also, almost immediately, at odds with what followed. Minnelli, now 80, appeared physically fragile and struggled to communicate in a way that often left both her …

Bridesmaids cast reunites at the 2026 Oscars in hilarious onstage moment

Fans were treated to a dose of comedy nostalgia at the 2026 Oscars as the cast of Bridesmaids reunited onstage – and proved their chemistry is just as sharp as ever. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Ellie Kemper took to the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to present an award, immediately sparking cheers from the crowd and a frenzy online. © Getty Images The Academy via GetThe cast of Bridesmaids at the 98th Annual Oscars The actresses presented the awards for Best Original Score (won by Ludwig Göransson for Sinners) and Best Sound (won by the Brad Pitt racing epic F1). “We are so happy to all be here together tonight,” Kristen began, before poking fun at the passage of time. “I cannot believe that it’s been 15 years now. We are not good with numbers, but we figured it out backstage. That means we shot this movie in 1883.” The tongue-in-cheek humour continued as Ellie began introducing the nominees, only for the group to be interrupted by supposed …

Cardi B Recovers From On-Stage Fall With Hilarious Response

Cardi B Recovers From On-Stage Fall With Hilarious Response

Let it never be said that Cardi B doesn’t know how to laugh at herself. On Friday night, the Grammy-winning performer brought her Little Miss Drama tour to Paradise, Nevada, where she came a cropper during a rendition of her song Thotiana. After running into some difficulty during a choreo section involving a metal chair, Cardi found herself tumbling backwards, and completing the rest of her verse flat on her back. Upon finishing the song, she had a great one-liner for those in the audience, quipping: “That was the government.” The WAP performer’s comment was a reference to the recent back-and-forth she had with the White House. On the first night of her tour in Palm Desert, California last week, Cardi assured those in attendance: “Bitch, if ICE comes in here, we gon’ jump they asses. “I’ve got some bear mace in the back! They ain’t taking my fans, bitch. Let’s go.” Responding in a post on X, the US Department of Homeland Security said: “As long as she doesn’t drug and rob our agents, …

Grammys Producer Lifts The Lid On Cher’s Chaotic On-Stage Moments

Grammys Producer Lifts The Lid On Cher’s Chaotic On-Stage Moments

Grammys producer Ben Winston is lifting the lid on one of the most memorable moments from this year’s awards show, which took place when Cher made her way onto the stage. Towards the end of Sunday night’s ceremony, Cher delivered an impromptu speech after being presented with a lifetime achievement award. She then told the audience that she figured she was “supposed to walk off now”, with host Trevor Noah having to step in to remind her she was also announcing the recipient of Record Of The Year. Following some confusion over whether the winner was being revealed in an envelope or the teleprompter, Cher enthusiastically declared that the award going to was “Luther Vandross” (or, indeed, “Luther Grandross”) rather than the actual recipients, Kendrick Lamar and SZA for their collab Luther. Speaking to Rolling Stone after Sunday’s show, Winston recalled telling Trevor Noah in his earpiece: “You’ve just gotta get up and bring her back.” Winston then insisted: “I promise you, we had briefed her, and I promise you, what she had to do …
