Leon Kennedy actor is “cautiously optimistic” for Resident Evil movie

With Resident Evil Requiem being a smash hit for Capcom, reaching new heights for the series, it further highlights just how naff a lot of the Resident Evil films were, and how IP might ultimately be best suited to the medium of video games, as Ben Starr believes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is. However, there is another Resident Evil film in the works from Weapons director Zach Cregger, with Austin Abrams acting as the lead. Arguably, Resident Evil’s most famous protagonist is none other than Leon S Kennedy, and so during the BAFTA Games Awards 2026, Radio Times caught up with the man behind the new voice of Leon, Nick Apostolides, to gauge his thoughts on the upcoming movie. “I am very cautiously optimistic.” Apostolides told us, adding that “I’ve been let down in the past”. Being more optimistic can lower dementia risk by 15%

Being more optimistic can lower dementia risk by 15%

Get the Well Enough newsletter with Harry Bullmore for tips on living a healthier, happier and longer life Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Having a sunnier outlook on life doesn’t just improve mood – it can lead to a healthier life for years to come. Living more optimistically cut the risk of developing dementia in people’s later years by at least 15 percent, researchers at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health said Wednesday. The findings could have a major impact on the future of dementia prevention in the U.S. Roughly 7.2 million are living with Alzheimer’s disease – a figure that is projected to nearly double by 2050, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. But adjusting one’s attitude could help turn the tide – or at least become a larger part of clinical efforts to fight dementia, the researchers believe. Optimism lowers the stress hormone cortisol and levels of harmful inflammation in the brain, which have both been linked to dementia. “Identifying optimism …

The 2026 Oscars were (almost) optimistic

The 2026 Oscars were (almost) optimistic

When Conan O’Brien made his debut as Academy Awards host last year, the comedian was tasked with the unenviable duty of grabbing hold of a world plunging rapidly into darkness and despair and lifting it back into the light, if only for one night. In March 2025, Donald Trump had returned to power, Los Angeles was just beginning to recover from devastating wildfires and Oscar discourse had reached new, angry heights. A year and some change later, the magnitude of those events seems infinitesimal compared to each day’s headline news — nothing eclipses domestic climate disasters like international climate catastrophes imposed by an oligarch sanctioning a war in Iran for fun. But the need for levity remains. Hope is a vital yet scarce resource, and a show designed to celebrate art and the artists who make it, being broadcast to hundreds of millions of people around the world, has the potential to instill hope on a mass scale. Throw in the fact that Ryan Coogler’s historical horror smash “Sinners” was up for a record 16 …

The one change that worked: When good things happen, I write them down – and it’s made me more optimistic | Life and style

The one change that worked: When good things happen, I write them down – and it’s made me more optimistic | Life and style

Growing up, I was envious of one type of person. It was never the kids who were smarter, sportier or more popular. My awe was reserved for a rarer breed of people: optimists. I was hypersensitive to the ease with which they sailed through exams, social gatherings or teenage milestones with a sunny conviction that things would more or less work out. To me, they were the chosen people. “It’ll be fine,” one such friend would reassure me. “Or you could embarrass yourself,” my mind would purr like a villain. “Be rejected. Fail.” I was a chronic worrier. A negative Nancy. I couldn’t fathom that people’s brains weren’t hardwired to compulsively fear things might go wrong. I grew up as the eldest daughter in a turbulent household where my father’s moods would plummet quickly and I walked on a knife-edge. Every morning, the second my eyes opened, I would force myself to accept it was going to be a bad day – an act of self-preservation so the rug could never get pulled from under …

Kate Middleton lets slip her favourite colour – and it’s telling about her ‘optimistic’ personality

Kate Middleton lets slip her favourite colour – and it’s telling about her ‘optimistic’ personality

The Princess of Wales is one of the most elegant dressers in the British royal family, and her constant balance between dressing stylishly, professionally and with regal poise represents the pinnacle of contemporary royal style. One thing about the 44-year-old is that she knows her colours – she has perfectly nailed dressing in the colours that suit her best, which include powder blues, muted pinks, lavenders and more, according to Susie Hasler, the colour expert and personal stylist behind Styled by Susie, who spoke exclusively to HELLO! about how the beloved royal nails colourful dressing. However, the wife of Prince William still has one colour that stands above all as her favourite, as she revealed during an outing on Thursday, 12 February, when she made an appearance at the Castle Hill Academy in New Addington, Croydon. In her position as patron of the charity Place2Be, which helps build trusted relationships through creativity and play, she chatted to the children, and was heard saying to them: “Can I have a go? Is it hard? What’s your …

‘Not optimistic’: Ukrainians doubt Russia ready to end war amid talks | Russia-Ukraine war News

Kyiv, Ukraine – Snizhana Petradkhina, a 34-year-old florist, pulled her hands from her thick puffer jacket to reveal two thermal hand warmers. “These are saving me today,” she said, standing beneath a flickering portable lamp in her stall in an underpass leading to a Kyiv metro station. “I am tired of feeling cold, and I am tired of no light. But all of Ukraine is tired of war. We want our children to have quiet nights – no drones, no explosions.” Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this winter, causing mass power cuts in the Ukrainian capital, during a bitter cold snap that has left many residents without electricity and running water. But war fatigue had long set in. Ukrainians barely react to the multiple air-raid sirens that ring out every day. The conflict that began at breakneck speed almost four years ago, gripping the world’s attention, has gradually ground down into a brutal war of attrition. And while Ukrainian, Russian, United States and Emirati officials struck positive tones after talks on Friday and …

SkyBridge bets on rising volatility, cautiously optimistic on bitcoin, Scaramucci says

SkyBridge bets on rising volatility, cautiously optimistic on bitcoin, Scaramucci says

DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan 20 : Alternative asset manager SkyBridge Capital is tilting further towards macro strategies as policy uncertainty under U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration fuels market swings, founder Anthony Scaramucci said in Davos, Switzerland. “Because of the volatility, the macro traders have done better,” Scaramucci told the Reuters Global Markets Forum on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. Scaramucci, a staunch crypto advocate whose firm has invested heavily in digital assets, believes bitcoin’s long-term story is intact despite a sharp pullback from last year’s record highs. “This is more of a timing issue than a direction issue. I don’t think the fundamental story for bitcoin has changed. If anything, you’ve seen a lot of consolidation,” he said. His U.S.-based firm’s September 2025 filings showed its SkyBridge Opportunity Fund, focused on alternative investment strategies, shifting to a heavy macro weighting of 69 per cent, from its March 2025 weighting of 65 per cent in cryptocurrency and digital assets. Bitcoin saw a tumultuous 2025, with the world’s largest cryptocurrency hitting an all-time high of …

CES showed me why Chinese tech companies feel so optimistic

CES showed me why Chinese tech companies feel so optimistic

CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, is the world’s biggest tech show, where companies launch new gadgets and announce new developments, and it happens every January. This year, it attracted over 148,000 attendees and over 4,100 exhibitors. It sprawls across the Las Vegas Convention Center, the city’s biggest exhibition space, and spills over into adjacent hotels.  China has long had a presence at CES, but this year it showed up in a big way. Chinese exhibitors accounted for nearly a quarter of all companies at the show, and in pockets like AI hardware and robotics, China’s presence felt especially dominant. On the floor, I saw tons of Chinese industry attendees roaming around, plus a notable number of Chinese VCs. Multiple experienced CES attendees told me this is the first post-covid CES where China was present in a way you couldn’t miss. Last year might have been trending that way too, but a lot of Chinese attendees reportedly ran into visa denials. Now AI has become the universal excuse, and reason, to make the trip. As expected, …
