What do we owe the victims of Lindsey Graham’s wars?

(RNS) — The last time I saw Lindsey Graham, I was sitting directly behind Hanan Shaheen. Hanan had come to testify before Congress in September 2024 about the murder of her 6-year-old son, Wadee Alfayoumi. Just days after Oct. 7, 2023, Wadee was stabbed 26 times in his Illinois home by the man who had been his family’s landlord. Hanan herself barely survived the attack. She later asked me to accompany her as she appeared before Congress. From my seat behind her, I could see both of them. In front of me sat a grieving mother trying to describe the indescribable. Across the room sat Sen. Lindsey Graham. Throughout the hearing, I found myself looking toward him. I kept wondering whether he would acknowledge her presence. Whether he would look into the eyes of a grieving mother. Whether, if even for a moment, politics would give way to some semblance of humanity. I never saw that moment come.  The same man who urged Israel to “flatten Gaza,” who defended expanding the war even as the civilian death toll mounted, who …

Eligible parties have until September 8 to file a claim for a portion of the settlement. What the Disney lawsuit is all about The lawsuit in question is Biddle v. Disney, and it’s centered around streaming service pricing. At this time, Disney has agreed to settle with YouTube TV and DirecTV plaintiffs. FuboTV is also involved in the lawsuit, …

In a video shared from the stands of the Dallas Stadium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Oliver Henry said that Brits “owe America an apology” for doubting the size of their sports venues. “We owe apologies to America because their football stadiums are so much better than ours,” he said in a video taken at the England and Croatia match last Friday. “This is the Dallas Stadium and it’s absolutely incredible. England just beat Croatia, but look at the size of the stadium.” The AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. It has a retractable …

You Ruined My Life—Now You Owe Me!

You Ruined My Life—Now You Owe Me!

We hear a lot these days about struggling adult children and the heartbreak parents experience when communication is cut off. Yet far less attention is paid to a reality I see almost every day in my parent coaching practice: Parents who remain deeply involved in their adult children’s lives but feel trapped by ongoing crisis, dependence, and demands for help. In my forthcoming book, You Ruined My Life—Now You Owe Me!, I explore a huge dilemma that countless parents face today. Their adult child may be struggling with resentment, depression, anxiety, employment, finances, motivation, or independence. In these cases, their child has not “just walked away” but has not yet stepped into adulthood. The Staunchly Embedded Belief of Being Wronged by Their Parents One of the biggest misconceptions about struggling adult children is that they all fit the same profile. That is not the case. Some may struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, addiction, or chronic overthinking and indecision. Yet I have worked with parents of struggling adult children who hold impressive jobs, such as doctors, …

Stranded by Winter Weather? Here’s What Airlines Owe You

A monster storm started to wreak havoc Saturday across parts of the country, with 12,200 weekend flights and counting canceled. Forecasters warned that catastrophic damage, especially in areas pounded by ice, could rival that of a hurricane. Here’s a guide for winter travelers as flight disruptions pile up: Keep an eye on weather forecasts When airlines expect bad weather to create problems for flights, they often give travelers a chance to postpone their trips by a few days without having to pay a fee. Search online for your airline’s name and “travel alerts” or similar phrases to look for possible rescheduling offers. American Airlines, for example, said it is waiving change fees for passengers impacted by the storm and adding extra flights around the country in an effort to help passengers reach their destination after the storm passes. Check before going to the airport Use the airline’s app to make sure your flight is still on before heading to the airport. Cancellations can happen hours — or even days — before departure time. Consider American …
