Paige DeSorbo’s Summer Trend Report: Beauty & Fashion Picks

Paige DeSorbo’s Summer Trend Report: Beauty & Fashion Picks

Talking Shop is our series where we talk to interesting people about their most interesting buys. I’m fairly certain that everyone who’s followed Paige DeSorbo for years had the same reaction when she launched Daphne, a loungewear line, in 2025: That makes perfect sense. It combined her impeccable fashion taste and her love for cozying up in bed (plus it gave a nod to her cat, the brand’s namesake) — all things she’s famous for. “Daphne started with this very niche idea of ‘what if being sleepy all the time was actually chic?’ and the girls really adopted it as their own,” says the former Bravo star who co-hosts the Giggly Squad podcast with Hannah Berner. “They’re wearing it in so many places besides their beds, which is exactly what I wanted.” Daphne has officially been in business for a year, and DeSorbo has learned a lot about building and running a brand as a first-time founder. “The biggest lesson has been working with a team of people who are so good,” she says. “I …

How to have the best Sunday in L.A, according to Taylour Paige

For L.A. cool girl and actor Taylour Paige, the perfect Sunday involves lots of shopping — shopping for statement jewelry at Maxfield, minimalist yet playful clothing at Jacquemus and vintage home decor at Pierce & Ward. “I really love fashion,” says the Inglewood native. “I appreciate fashion. I respect fashion.” In Sunday Funday, L.A. people give us a play-by-play of their ideal Sunday around town. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on the weekends. Paige’s latest project, “I Love Boosters,” is centered on fashion as well. Written and directed by Boots Riley, the maximalist film follows the Velvet Gang, a pack of small-time shoplifters (played by Paige, Keke Palmer and Naomi Ackie) as they attempt to take down a ruthless fashion mogul in the name of “fashion-forward filantrophy.” It hits theaters Friday. Once she learned that Riley was behind the film, she knew she had to be a part of it. “When I met Boots, he was like, ‘This is the smaller role of the …

Original Sin by Kathryn Paige Harden review – are criminals born or made? | Science and nature books

In 2021, the psychologist and writer Kathryn Paige Harden co-authored a paper outlining her research into the genetic patterns linked to a higher risk of developing substance abuse problems or engaging in risk-taking behaviour, such as having unprotected sex or committing crime. The paper referred to the genetics of “traits related to self-regulation and addiction”, but Harden thought of herself as studying the genetics of sin. Harden is a professor at the University of Texas and the author of a previous book, The Genetic Lottery, on how our knowledge of genetics should shape our views on meritocracy. She once received a letter from a man who has been in prison since he was 16 for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman. “What would drive a boy to do such a thing?” he asked her. Her new book is a heartfelt, subtly argued response to his question, an attempt to outline how our expanding knowledge of what makes people do bad things – the interplay of our inherited tendencies and our life circumstances – should influence how …
