Elon Musk calls The Boys finale “pathetic” – and showrunner responds

**Warning: Contains spoilers from The Boys series finale** The Boys came to an end this week with the finale episode Blood and Bone – though not everyone was happy with the outcome. One of them was the world’s richest man, SpaceX entrepreneur and X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk – who didn’t seem too happy with supervillain Homelander being stripped of his powers. In the finale of the satirical series, which has been seen as drawing parallels to the current political power players in the United States, Homelander – who became president during the show’s latest season – can be seen begging on his knees in the Oval Office, willing to do anything for mercy. After one conservative commentator criticised the scene, writing: “The show writers turned Homelander into a [Donald] Trump analogue, and this is how they choose to end The Boys,” Musk then stepped in, replying to the post and branding the decision “pathetic”. If You Thought Mark Zuckerberg Was a Pathetic Little Worm Before, Wait Until You Hear About His Latest Move

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has long been the poster child for the billionaire class, a hyper-capitalist and unnervingly out-of-touch group whose spineless obsession with hoarding more money than they could ever spend has earned them a reputation as a corrupted blight on modern society. Despite his virtually infinite wealth, Zuckerberg’s lack of basic empathy has led to widespread mockery and facetious accusations of secretly being a robot. Now, his latest move is sure to kick the allegations into overdrive. And no, we’re not talking about his coldhearted choice to cut funding for a private Bay Area school that previously provided tuition-free education for low-income students, forcing it to lay off nearly 150 employees and permanently close. We’re talking about something arguably even more craven: a pathological unwillingness to use his vast wealth to contribute to society, as evidenced by his his decision to relocate to Florida as a California bill proposing a billionaire tax continues to gain considerable …

He went on to work as Andrew’s technical assistant with the aim of nurturing his “instinctive aesthetic eye”. © GettyAndrew released a book of photographs he had taken Andrew shares his personal photos Andrew was allegedly encouraged by a small number of individuals to share his passion with the world, leading him to release a photography book in 1995. © PA Images via Getty ImagesAndrew took up photography in the 90s The book, Photographs: Andrew, Prince Duke of York, was described in the foreword as “a small slice of autobiography recording memories and impressions through my eyes and the lens of a …

Moon Denialists Are So Pathetic That They’re Using AI to Fake Artemis Footage

Moon Denialists Are So Pathetic That They’re Using AI to Fake Artemis Footage

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech For many decades, conspiracy theorists have attempted to argue that NASA’s missions to the lunar surface were somehow faked — and the space agency’s latest trip around the Moon and back is no different. Except this time, the widespread proliferation of AI slop is supercharging the trend, with denialists pointing to faked, AI-generated footage as “proof” of their claims with no apparent sense of irony. One particularly sticky video shows the crew of four astronauts hanging by harnesses in front of a large green screen. As France 24 points out, it doesn’t take much analysis to conclude that it’s AI slop, from glitching overlaid text that interferes with the floating Artemis mascot in the shot to missing limbs and the wrong number of fingers on some of their hands. Why anybody who actually believed NASA had faked its lunar flyby would choose to AI generate footage as counterevidence is a question worth asking. Is it a believer so …

‘A Poet’ review: Mines comedy from pathetic failure-to-launch writer

‘A Poet’ review: Mines comedy from pathetic failure-to-launch writer

p]:text-cms-story-body-color-text clearfix”> Art isn’t easy, Stephen Sondheim articulated about the creative process. Then again, if one’s chosen art seems especially out of reach, life is no piece of cake either. Colombian writer-director Simón Mesa Soto’s acutely observed Cannes-recognized “A Poet” lays bare that torment with the tale of a has-been writer for whom exquisite suffering has curdled into garden-variety middle-age failure. Given a modicum of hope, there’s always room to make matters worse. There’s a wry grace to this misadventure-palooza, forged in the key of melancholic mid-career Woody Allen but with variations on those themes which achieve their own pointedly funny clarity, especially where Ubeimar Rios’ all-time portrayal of a sad sack is concerned. Decades from his prize-winning days as a published young poet, Oscar (Rios) is now divorced, creatively blocked and penniless, living with his ailing mother (Margarita Soto), estranged from his teenage daughter (Alisson Correa) and prone to crying fits of self-pity when he isn’t drunkenly raving to anyone who will listen about the sorry state of the written word in his country. …

Newsom Calls World Leaders ‘Pathetic’ for ‘Rolling Over’ to Trump

Newsom Calls World Leaders ‘Pathetic’ for ‘Rolling Over’ to Trump

new video loaded: Newsom Calls World Leaders ‘Pathetic’ for ‘Rolling Over’ to Trump transcript Back transcript Newsom Calls World Leaders ‘Pathetic’ for ‘Rolling Over’ to Trump Gov. Gavin Newsom of California told world leaders to “stop being complicit” and to “have a backbone” in dealing with President Trump and his threats to Greenland. “It’s time to buck up. It’s time to get serious and stop being complicit. It’s time to stand tall and firm. Have a backbone. You know, it’s — I’ve seen this in the United States. The supine Congress playing both sides, you know, say one thing on a text or tweet and another publicly. It’s time to have principle. It’s time to stand tall.” Reporter: “When you say standing tall, what do you mean?” “Just, I can’t take this complicity. People rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of kneepads for all the world leaders. I mean, handing out crowns and handing — I mean, this is pathetic. Nobel Prizes that are being given away. I mean, it’s just pathetic. This …

Trump’s a T-Rex and ‘pathetic’ leaders need to confront him, rages California’s Newsom – POLITICO

Newsom, who is one of the highest-profile Trump critics in America, confirmed last fall he is thinking about running for president in 2028. The California governor would be a leading contender to secure the Democratic nomination. He was cajoling European leaders after Trump belligerently stepped up his threats to seize Greenland in recent days, announcing that he will will impose 10 percent tariffs on eight countries that have opposed the sale of Greenland to the U.S.  Heads of government in Europe are scrambling to find a response that will cool the situation — as Trump ratchets up his own belligerent rhetoric. The U.S. president posted overnight that he’d spoken to NATO chief Mark Rutte, agreed to a meeting in Davos with key players on Greenland — then leaked a text message from French President Emmanuel Macron, shared a map of the Western Hemisphere showing Canada (and Venezuela) as American, and berated Britain for ceding a military base in the Indian Ocean. In another message Trump shared on Truth Social, NATO boss Mark Rutte sent him a …

‘It’s a loving mockery, because it’s also who I am’: the making of gaming’s most pathetic character | Games

“I don’t know why he is in a onesie and has a big ass,” shrugs game developer Gabe Cuzzillo. “Bennett just came in with that at some point.” “I thought it would be cute,” replies Bennett Foddy, who was formerly Cuzzillo’s professor at New York University’s Game Center and is now his collaborator. “Working on character design and animation brings you over to liking big butts. I could give you an enormous amount of evidence for this.” Foddy and Cuzzillo are talking about Nate, the impressively pathetic manbaby protagonist of their profound and ridiculous comedy game Baby Steps, developed together with Maxi Boch. When I was preparing to talk to them, I felt like I was about to meet my tormentors: I spent a week last year in the grip of this purposefully, transcendentally frustrating game about going on a horrible hiking holiday with the world’s most incompetent loser. Baby Steps’ premise seems like a cruel joke at first: watch the hapless man suffer! And you will suffer too! But the more I played it, …
