Isuzu launches its first electric pickup in the UK, but it’s not cheap

Isuzu launches its first electric pickup in the UK, but it’s not cheap

While Toyota is preparing to launch the Hilux BEV in the UK, another Japanese electric pickup is now on sale. The Isuzu D-MAX EV can tow over 7,700 lbs, wade through close to 24″ (600 mm) of water, and it even has a dedicated Rough Terrain Mode for off-roading. However, it’s not cheap. Isuzu launches the D-Max EV pickup for the UK After revealing the left-hand-drive D-Max EV for Europe last year, Isuzu said it would begin production of the right-hand-drive model for the UK, with sales following in early 2026. Isuzu officially launched the D-Max EV as a right-hand-drive model, calling it “the first fully electric pickup in the UK to provide over 1-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and permanent All Wheel Drive.” The EV pickup is powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery and dual electric motors, providing a combined 200 hp (149.3 kW), 347.6 Nm of torque, and a WLTP driving range of 163.2 miles. In the city, the D-Max EV offers a WLTP driving range of 223.9 miles. Advertisement – scroll …

Online ordering and pickup aren’t coming anytime soon. Lynsi Snyder‑Ellingson, owner and president of In‑N‑Out, reaffirmed last week that she is committed to the chain’s in-person tradition, meaning face-to-face service only, with no apps or digital lanes. “We have, for sure, had that put in front of us, and the answer is no,” Snyder-Ellingson told an audience of about 1,000 people during a March 31 conversation with Pepperdine University President Jim Gash on the Malibu campus, KTLA reports. “The main reason is part of what makes In-N-Out and the experience so special is the interaction and the customer service that we’re able to give, the smile, the greeting,” she continued. “Just that warmth and feeling, the culture. And so, the mobile …

ICE Foiled At Every Turn By One Vibe Coding Man In His Pickup Truck

ICE Foiled At Every Turn By One Vibe Coding Man In His Pickup Truck

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech Vibe coding often gets a bad rep. “Vibe” is a euphemism for “not really thinking,” and that “not really thinking” part is accomplished by letting an AI spit all the code out in response to natural language prompts. Inexperienced programmers use it to push out half-baked apps and sabotage their own projects, and experienced ones get lulled into making rookie mistakes. Enter one man who’s putting AI coding tools to extremely good use: Rafael Concepcion, a second-generation immigrant and former professor at Syracuse University who’s made it his personal mission to foil Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a new profile in Wired — a quest that would come at great personal cost, including his university job. Concepcion is behind a number mobile apps designed to counter ICE activities]. He started with an app to teach immigrants how to exercise their constitutional rights when approached by ICE agents. To build it, he heavily used AI tools like Cursor, …

Airbnb is introducing a private car pick-up service

Airbnb announced Tuesday it is expanding its services feature with a new category for car pick-ups across 125 cities around the world. The company is partnering with transportation company Welcome Pickups to let users book a private car service in cities including Paris, Bali, and Mexico City. The travel company said that it has been running a pilot this year in Europe and Asia, where “thousands of guests” used it with an average rating of 4.96. Airbnb said that once you book a stay in a city where the service is available, you will see an option to schedule a private cab to the listing in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app. Users can view their cab reservation details and make changes directly from the app. “Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb, said in a statement. Slate’s EV pickup endures slushy winter testing [Video]

Slate’s EV pickup endures slushy winter testing [Video]

Young American EV startup, Slate Auto, has shared its latest video update, and it’s a chilly one. The company’s development prototypes were recently put through extreme winter testing in Northern Michigan, where, in true Slate fashion, the team had some fun while making great progress. See the video below. I love getting updates from Slate Auto, don’t you? The young EV startup only burst onto the scene a year ago and is ever closer to delivering its flagship “Bare Slate” electric pickup to customers by the end of 2026. That’s a lightning fast turnaround, but its made possible in part by the core of the Slate’s design – simplified and built tough, without any frills, bells or whistles. Hell, the truck doesn’t even have a sound system, although future owners will be able to install a bluetooth speaker in the dash. Anyways, aside from its streamlined design, its Slate’s team that appears to be at the root of its early developmental success. The winter testing video below, posted by Slate this week, is a perfect …

Hyundai has a new pickup and potential 4WD SUV in the works

Hyundai looks to tap into a new market with its first midsize pickup. The pickup, potentially the IONIQ T7, may even share a body-on-frame platform with a rugged new 4WD SUV. When is Hyundai launching its first midsize pickup? During its CEO Investor Day event in New York last September, Hyundai presented “its most ambitious growth strategy” to date. In an industry “facing unprecedented transformation,” Hyundai Motor Company CEO José Muñoz said the company “is uniquely positioned to win.” Those plans include its first midsize pickup. Muñoz confirmed Hyundai plans to launch the new pickup truck by the end of the decade. Speaking with the media over the weekend, Hyundai Australia COO Gavin Donaldson offered a few updates on what to expect. After the midsize electric pickup, Ford is preparing to introduce several new affordable multi-powertrain vehicles, including SUVs and sedans Ford shifts to affordable SUVs, sedans, and trucks With the first vehicle based on its low-cost Universal EV (UEV) platform due out next year, Ford revealed a few new details behind “one of the most audacious and important projects” in the company’s history. After revealing the platform last August, Ford’s CEO Jim Farley said the first vehicle would be a midsize four-door electric pickup, starting at around $30,000. While it’s clear Ford is betting on the UEV platform for the future, we knew it would underpin at least a few more vehicles.
