US President Donald Trump lashed out at “fake news media” and talked about serving a banned third term as he addressed a rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner Friday, three months after the event was disrupted by an apparent assassination attempt. “This place is really the largest group of Trump derangement syndrome people ever put together at one time,” Trump told the media gala at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington. The 80-year-old started with a relatively conciliatory tone, reflecting on the attack by a gunman that forced him to be evacuated from the dinner in April. “The show must go on,” Trump said. But he quickly pivoted to attacking a wide range of perceived enemies in an often rambling speech, starting with journalists before training his fire on Democratic opponents. South Carolina is poised to hold the first Democratic presidential nominating contest in 2028 after the Democratic National Committee’s powerful rules committee voted to keep the state at the front of the line. The move, recommended by the rules committee Friday and set to be presented to the full DNC at its summer meeting next month, settles a monthslong battle among a handful of states. Nevada and New Hampshire, which also vied to be the lead-off state, will hold the second and third nominating contests, respectively. New Mexico, Michigan and Virginia will round out the first six contests prior to Super Tuesday. The move officially pushes Iowa out of the early voting window altogether. She has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Prior to joining the faculty at UT Austin, she taught at the University of Arizona, Rutgers University, Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, the University of California, Davis, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and the University of San Diego Law School. French far-right leader Marine Le Pen saw her conviction for fraud upheld by a Paris appeals court on Tuesday. The court sentenced Le Pen to a three-year jail term, but with two years suspended and one year with an electronic ankle tag. Wi’s comments came after a U.S. House Judiciary Committee report accused South Korea of ‌discriminatory treatment of the U.S.-listed e-commerce firm. ‌Multiple South Korean media outlets have also reported a White House statement saying Coupang was “singled out” by President Lee Jae Myung’s ⁠government. The investigations of ⁠Coupang were conducted on a non-discriminatory basis, Wi said at a press conference called to ​announce President Lee’s attendance at a NATO summit in Turkey. The dispute has emerged as a flashpoint in U.S.-South Korean relations, with Seoul concerned it could affect broader negotiations with Washington including talks on nuclear-powered submarines.
