Sam Altman’s Orb Company Promoted a Bruno Mars Partnership That Doesn’t Exist

Sam Altman’s Orb Company Promoted a Bruno Mars Partnership That Doesn’t Exist

Sam Altman’s eyeball-scanning startup, Tools for Humanity, announced last week that a new product called Concert Kit—designed to give verified humans a way to purchase concert tickets—would first roll out on Bruno Mars’ world tour of his latest studio album, The Romantic. However, Bruno Mars Management and Live Nation, the producer for the Romantic Tour, told WIRED in a joint statement on Tuesday that the partnership “does not exist,” and that Tools for Humanity never even approached them about working together. The confusion stemmed from a Tools for Humanity event April 17 in San Francisco, where chief product officer Tiago Sada said the company would be joining the Romantic Tour to not just provide access to tickets but also “VIP experiences for verified humans.” The statement was reiterated in a blog post published by the company, which read: “Concert Kit launches today and will roll out during the Bruno Mars World Tour featuring DJ Pee .Wee (aka Anderson .Paak), where verified humans will have exclusive access to VIP suite experiences at select stops.” A video …

Coventry promoted to Premier League after 25-year absence

BLACKBURN, England, April 17 : Coventry City ended their 25-year absence from the Premier League with a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers to secure promotion from the Championship on Friday. Needing a point to make it mathematically certain, Frank Lampard’s league leaders salvaged a draw as Bobby Thomas heading a late equaliser at Ewood Park. Blackburn had taken the lead shortly after the interval with a deflected shot by Ryoya Morishita. The final whistle sparked celebrations on the pitch and delirious scenes among the 7,000 travelling fans. Coventry top the table with 86 points from 43 games, 13 points ahead of third-placed Millwall who can no longer catch them. Ipswich Town, Millwall, Southampton and Middlesbrough are battling for the second automatic promotion spot. Source link

Kim Jon-Un’s sister promoted in rare North Korea party congress

The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been given a promotion in the ruling party structure during a rare party congress, state media reported Tuesday. The Workers’ Party Central Committee on Monday named Kim Yo Jong – previously a deputy department director – as a full department director, Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. Thousands of party elites have packed the capital, Pyongyang, for a once-in-five-years summit of the ruling Workers’ Party, a gathering that directs state efforts on everything from diplomacy to war planning. The congress offers a rare glimpse into the political workings of reclusive North Korea and is widely seen as a forum for Kim to flex his grip on power. Kim Yo Jong has long been among her brother’s closest lieutenants and one of the most influential women in the isolated regime. As trade envoy, Prince Andrew promoted Britain and exploited his access

LONDON — Reaching for a role beyond his birthright as the monarchy’s spare, Prince Andrew took on one of the British government’s most outward-facing posts: trade envoy. From 2001 to 2011, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, as he is now known, hopscotched the globe not as a royal but as an official representative for trade and investment, courting presidents, ministers and chief executives and cooking up deals that at times made his family cringe. BritBox President Robert Schildhouse has been promoted to CEO of its rebranded direct to consumer business that includes BritBox North America and BBC Select. His credits include The Other Bennet Sister and the hotly anticipated Agatha Christie‘s Tommy & Tuppence with Imelda Staunton. The exec said he is “honored” to step into this new role for BBC Studios. “This has been an incredible time of growth for both BritBox and BBC Select, following a transformative few years for both our streaming businesses. Worker Promoted Despite Doing Bare Minimum & Being Incompetent Explains How Anyone Can Do It

Worker Promoted Despite Doing Bare Minimum & Being Incompetent Explains How Anyone Can Do It

An anonymous employee admitted she achieved great success at her company, despite not really knowing how to do her job or even really trying. She credited her success to knowing how to impress the right people. Landing a high-paying job or finding job security is something that all of us hope for, but only some actually achieve. However, a handful of lucky people do find it, and very easily, at that. This woman, who works at a top technology company, is one of those people. In fact, her strategy was so good she was promoted seven times despite, as she described it, being completely “incompetent.” She spilled her secret strategy for “faking” her way into corporate success on the “Everybody Has A Secret” podcast. A worker said ‘befriending’ high-status people granted her 7 promotions, a high wage, and job security.  “I know basically zero about the business or industry,” the worker admitted. “I am not good at my job. I’m basically clueless. My secret is this … I’ve managed to befriend several people higher up in the business, earning …

Council to take no action against school which promoted creationism

Council to take no action against school which promoted creationism

The National Secular Society has expressed alarm after a local council said no action will be taken against a school where the headteacher routinely promoted his evangelical Christian beliefs. The NSS referred Llanidloes High School to Powys County Council and the Welsh Government after uncovering evidence that headteacher Dan Owen was attempting to convert children to Christianity. This included school displays with creationist messages, giving children school planners with biblical ‘advice’, and holding regular assemblies promoting Christianity. But an “independent fact-finding exercise” commissioned by the council found the school “is operating fully within the relevant legislation and Welsh Government guidance”. While the review highlighted some areas of practice for further review by the school, no further action is necessary, the council said. The NSS said the findings “raise serious questions about current guidance on religion in schools in Wales”. When the press reported on the school in 2024, parents said they fear the issue is being “swept under the carpet”. One parent said: “I have lost all trust in him. We trusted our kids to …

Stylist editorial boss Lisa Smosarski promoted to MD

Lisa Smosarski. Picture: DC Thomson Stylist editorial director Lisa Smosarski has been promoted to managing director to lead growth of memberships, its B2B insights offering and brand partnerships. Smosarski launched Stylist as founding editor in 2009 when it was a free weekly magazine. It went monthly in 2022 and parent company DC Thomson said print “remains at the heart of the brand”. She told Press Gazette last year that Stylist had begun focusing on its core community via paid subscriptions and memberships (two separate offerings) and was approaching 100,000 paying digital subscribers. About 25% of Stylist’s online content each month was being paywalled. Parent company DC Thomson said Smosarski will now lead Stylist as it scales up its memberships, builds Think Stylist as a B2B insight and analysis offering for clients, and grows brand partnerships like its recent collaborations with Google, Pandora, Intrepid Travel and Tu. She said: “I am extraordinarily proud of what we have built at Stylist – a brand that doesn’t just inform and entertain but genuinely helps the women we serve …
