Netflix has revealed when fans can expect Enola Holmes 3 to be released, while also unveiling some first-look images.
The upcoming film has been penned by Jack Thorne and will follow Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola as she travels to Malta, where “personal and professional dreams collide in a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before”.
It is set to be released globally on 1 July 2026.
One of the new images shows Enola in what appears to be a wedding dress (above), while another shows the character in trouble in a burning building (below).
In a third image (below), Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) can be seen back in action, while a fourth (below) shows Dr John Watson (Himesh Patel) in conversation with Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), and a fifth (below) depicts Sherlock’s mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) standing in a corridor.
Brown said of the film: “What I love about this chapter is that Enola is stepping into a version of herself that feels much more defined but still evolving. She’s built something for herself, which is amazing, but she’s also questioning what she wants next, and I think that’s something so many people can relate to.”
She added: “Working with Louis has been such a huge part of what makes these films feel special. There’s a comfort and an ease between us now that you can’t really fake and it just comes from years of working together and supporting each other.
“What’s been really nice is getting to explore a more mature version of Enola & Tewkesbury’s relationship. It’s not just playful anymore, it has real weight to it. We trust each other a lot, which means we can take more risks and really lean into the emotional side of their story.”
While plot details for the threequel remain scarce, Thorne previously teased a little more about what fans can expect while speaking with us exclusively for our video interview series The Radio Times Writers’ Room.
“I had some unfinished business with Enola Holmes, that I wanted to do in a totally different way, that told a different side of British society,” he said. “I always thought of Enola Holmes as a sort of cheat, as a way of understanding 19th century British society.”
He continued: “The first film was about land reform and vote reform, the second film was about the birth of the unions, and the third film looks at our colonial history. And just trying to capture those different elements I find really exciting, but also trying to capture a Phil Barantini film, and also trying to capture what it is to write for Millie now.”
Alongside the aforementioned cast, other returning players include Sharon Duncan-Brewster as the villainous Moriarty.
Meanwhile, Philip Barantini, who’s best known for his work on Adolescence, is taking over as director.
