Prince William is reportedly planning on tightening the rules around royal properties when he is King. The Prince of Wales, 43, will ‘do things differently’ when he inherits the throne and is said to be considering banning the subletting of homes. A sweeping law enforcement operation unfolded across Galveston County on Monday (June 1) as investigators moved to break apart what they say was a long-running illegal gambling network centered in La Marque and surrounding communities. Members of the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force began serving 21 search warrants at about 9:30 a.m. on June 1. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the coordinated action stemmed from an investigation into suspected organized criminal activity and money laundering connected to illegal game rooms. Galveston authorities target illegal gambling rooms and financial records Investigators focused on several game room businesses, related properties in Fort Bend County and a number of financial institutions believed to be tied to the operation’s finances. Florida lawmakers have formally enrolled Senate Bill 168, a measure that expands the state’s public nuisance law to include properties used for illegal gambling and removes limits on fines tied to those violations. The bill was ordered on Tuesday (March 17), after passing both chambers with wide margins, including a 112–0 vote in the House on third reading. In recent months, Florida regulators have stepped up actions targeting unauthorized gaming, including a recent crackdown that led to the seizure of more than 600 illegal gambling machines. State officials say those operations often run in storefronts or back rooms, generating significant unregulated revenue while skirting oversight. How gambling enforcement and penalties will shift under new Florida nuisance law SB 168 revises the list of activities that allow a property to be declared a public nuisance. Fusion is the process of fusing two light atomic nuclei into a heavier one, producing tremendous amounts of energy that powers the heat and radiation of stars such as our Sun. For decades, scientists have tried to achieve fusion in laboratories on Earth using various concepts. In December 2022, for the first time, net energy gain was achieved in a fusion experiment at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) in the US,¹ raising enormous hopes to meet the dramatic increase in energy consumption of mankind that is expected for the coming decades. SINGAPORE: Wakaf properties, such as those in Kampong Glam, are rented out to tenants at market rates to ensure the income generated reaches their stated beneficiaries, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) said on Wednesday (Feb 11). This comes after CNA reported last month that some heritage businesses were being priced out of one of Singapore’s oldest conservation districts.  A wakaf is a property or asset that has been dedicated by Muslims for religious or charitable purposes, with benefits generated from wakaf assets distributed to beneficiaries by the donor. These beneficiaries may include mosques, madrasahs, needy descendants and charities. There are 26 shophouses in Kampong Glam that are on wakaf land, according to MUIS. Under Singapore law, wakafs are managed by trustees or MUIS subsidiary Warees Investments, which performs on its behalf. For trustees, MUIS ensures that they are screened and approved by its council before being appointed. Trustees must also comply with strict requirements under the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA), including submitting audited financial statements of the wakaf property. MUIS said …

The searches came as Prime Minister Keir Starmer faces intense scrutiny over his decision to appoint Mandelson as the country’s envoy to the United States despite his association with convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this week, London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed it was investigating Mandelson, 72, over allegations of misconduct in a public office. It came after newly released documents appeared to show him sharing confidential government information with Epstein when Mandelson was a UK government minister, including during the 2008 financial crisis.
