Along with the Tigris River, the two define what is known as the Mespotamia basin. This is the area of the world, where Abraham was born and where the nation of Babylon was founded. Partially because of this, the Euphrates is the most mentioned river in the Bible. The first reference is actually found in the book of Genesis where the Euphrates and the Tigris are described as two of the four rivers that broke off from the main river the flowed out of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:14). The other two mentioned were the Pishon and Gihon. While, they have since been lost to history, recent satellite scans have uncovered the remains of a dry river bed that once flowed through …

CNN Ted Turner’s eerie end of the world signoff sparks prophecy fears | World | News

A resurfaced CNN clip featuring the late Ted Turner has led some viewers to believe that a chilling prophecy may now be unfolding. Following the passing of the 87 year old who founded CNN, footage from his past was unearthed, with one clip immediately igniting questions amongst social media users. The so-called “Turner Doomsday Video,” is a one-minute clip produced ahead of CNN’s 1980 launch and was solely intended to be broadcast should civilisation collapse. In the brief clip, Turner pledged that CNN would remain on air until the very end of the world. In the message, he said, “Barring satellite problems, we won’t be signing off until the world ends. “We’ll be on, and we will cover the end of the world, live, and that will be our last event. We’ll play the National Anthem only one time, on the first of June [the day CNN launched], and when the end of the world comes, we’ll play ‘Nearer My God To Thee’ before we sign off,” he continued. The footage, which left numerous viewers …

The idolator-in-chief plays savior while the pope chooses prophecy

The idolator-in-chief plays savior while the pope chooses prophecy

(RNS) — On Sunday night (April 12), President Donald Trump posted a lengthy broadside on Truth Social against Pope Leo XIV that started with “Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy.” Trump then doubled down, telling reporters: “I’m not a big fan of Pope Leo. He’s a very liberal person.” Many of us had no idea that the pontiff was WEAK [sic] on crime. I have visited Vatican City, and I have not had to keep my eye on my wallet or passport.  This is not the first time that the president has gone at it with a Christian leader. Recall Episcopal Bishop Mariann Budde preaching after Trump’s inauguration at Washington National Cathedral, imploring him to show the Christian quality of mercy. He complained about her, too.  (Not to be left out, many rabbis crave an insult from Trump. It looks good on a resume.) And then, Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself — wearing a white robe, laying his right hand on a man who appeared sick or dying, …

The ancient prophecy behind the Iran war is a modern invention

The ancient prophecy behind the Iran war is a modern invention

In the earliest days of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, it became clear this conflict has strong religious undertones. Whistleblower reports from the military detailed accounts of American commanders telling troops that the new war in the Middle East was part of a “divine plan” to bring about the battle of Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ. President Donald Trump hosted a score of influential evangelical leaders in the Oval Office to lay hands upon him. This supposedly ancient prophecy, however, is of distinctly American origins and only about 200 years old, having arguably little relevance to the teachings of Jesus or modern warfare. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, a watchdog focused on inappropriate proselytization in the military, collected hundreds of reports from troops of commanders telling American soldiers that Trump’s new war was part of God’s plan for the end of days, as detailed in the Book of Revelation. “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” a …

Nostradamus’ chilling prophecy resurfaces as US-Iran war spirals

Nostradamus’ chilling prophecy resurfaces as US-Iran war spirals

16th-century astrologer and physician Nostradamus has re-entered the zeitgeist again after the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday, February 28, with many believing that the Frenchman predicted this series of events almost 500 years ago. The US and Israel claimed that the missile strikes were pre-emptive as they believed Iran to have nuclear capabilities, despite the country assuring that its nuclear programme was peaceful. The conflict in the Middle East has entered its fifth day, after the strikes on Iran killed the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as several other Iranian officials. Iran responded to the attack by targeting US military assets in neighboring countries, including Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Jordan.   © Corbis via Getty ImagesNostradamus lived between 1503 and 1566 in France Since the attacks began, many have looked towards Nostradamus’ predictions for an idea of what may come in the unfolding war. Michel de Nostredame, whose predictions and prophecies earned him widespread renown and a place at King Henry II’s court, …

Don’t let climate fatalism become a self-fulfilling prophecy

Don’t let climate fatalism become a self-fulfilling prophecy

This article is adapted from Hannah Ritchie’s book, Clearing the Air. I read Mark Lynas’s book Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet when I was 14 years old, and it scared the life out of me. Lynas takes the reader on a journey of what to expect from a world that’s one degree warmer, two degrees, three degrees, all the way up to six degrees. By the middle of the book, your blood pressure is high; by the end, you’re on the floor. It is a well-researched book that offers us a window into many possible futures. Fortunately, the scientific consensus has moved away from the most extreme scenarios since its publication. Unfortunately, a lot of the public messaging has not. Many people believe a pathway to 5°C or 6°C is already locked in, and the only thing we can do now is prepare for the worst. Let’s look at what the latest science says about where we might end up by 2100. If no countries stepped up their climate efforts, simply preserving what …

Indian ‘lost tribe’ believes it is fulfilling prophecy by moving to Israel

Indian ‘lost tribe’ believes it is fulfilling prophecy by moving to Israel

(RNS) — Last year, Jeremiah Hnamte closed the family’s manufacturing business in the city of Aizawl, in northeastern India. The family moved into a rented apartment and sold their land and possessions, all in preparation for moving to Israel in the near future. The Hnamtes are members of the Bnei Menashe community, a few thousand people concentrated mostly in two hilly northeastern India states, Mizoram and Manipur, near the Myanmar border, who believe they’re descendants of a 2,700-year-old biblical lost tribe. Making aliyah, Hebrew for migrating to Israel, has been the Bnei Menashe’s dream for decades, but they do not qualify under the Israeli law of return, which requires people to have at least one Jewish grandparent in order to be considered for citizenship. Since 1989, though, through special government permissions, about 4,000 Bnei Menashe have been able to make aliyah, but just as many people have spent years, in some cases generations, attempting to move to Israel.  In November this year, however, the Israeli government announced that the entire Bnei Menashe community — estimated …

Is the Israel Iran War a Fulfilment of End Times Prophecy? – OpentheWord.org

Painting portraying the Battle of Armageddon (cyrcle of Pierre de Cortone), Wikipedia, Public Domain Many are wondering if Israel’s recent attacks on Iran is part of the end times fulfilment. There is certainly valid reasons to believe this. Israel Reformed as a Nation Of course, the prophetic end times count down started on May 14, 1948 when Israel was reformed as a nation. The Jews return to the Promise Land has been long prophesied in the Bible (Jeremiah 30:3; Isaiah 11:12). The Battle of Armageddon This will lead to the final end times conflict referred to as the Battle of Armageddon. This takes place when a coalition of nations will gather to fight Israel (Ezekiel 38 and 39). The leader will be Magog. This nation is described as being in the far north, literally the furthest northern nation (Ezekiel 38:15). The description fits Russia, which in recent years has taken an antagonistic position against Israel. This group of nations will also include Persia (Ezekiel 38:5). This was Iran’s original name until 1935 when it was …

Is this prophecy? – OpentheWord.org

Is this prophecy? – OpentheWord.org

US Capitol, Washington, DCCredit: Jorge Alcala, Unsplash.com Have you heard about the news that hasn’t happened yet? I’m not talking about Bible Prophecy, but about an article from a secular journalist, who sees something big coming soon. An article from “Time”, a world class source of journalism, tells us that “WorldPride is about to collide with Donald Trump’s Washington.”  Whatever your opinion is about a celebration called “WorldPride” and whatever you think about Donald Trump, it is strange to report something that has not happened yet. Usually, a reporter “reports” about something that has already happened, and then that past event can be analyzed and discussed, and argued about. I don’t think this prediction reporting, almost like prophecy, is bad journalism. It is a picture of the strange times that we are living in. Some things are obvious before they happen, and we need to understand.  The world around us is changing. Brace yourself. If you want to see the article from “Time”, here is a link: So, an organization that identifies as “WorldPride”, a …
