Chicago bankruptcy judge denies emergency hearing request in Hawthorne racetrack Chapter 11

A federal bankruptcy judge in Chicago has turned down a request from Hawthorne Race Course and related companies to speed up a court hearing connected to their Chapter 11 restructuring. In a March 11 order, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Timothy A. Barnes declined the companies’ attempt to schedule an emergency hearing tied to a motion seeking extra time to file required financial disclosures. The case involves Hawthorne Race Course, Inc. and several affiliated entities currently reorganizing in bankruptcy court. Because the request was rejected, the companies will have to move forward under the court’s regular calendar rather than getting immediate consideration.
