The legendary comedian and former talk show host recounted his 2024 appearance on Hot Ones — the viral YouTube show hosted by Sean Evans where celebrities are interviewed while eating spicy chicken — in a feature published Monday by The Hollywood Reporter. After learning that his Hot Ones episode had logged more than 15 million views since its release, O’Brien realised how the industry was changing. “That was the moment the scales fell from my eyes,” he told THR. “If a guy can do World Series numbers with overhead that looked, to me, to be about $600, and you have every big star lining up to do his show or …

I Thought I Knew The Secret To Being Happy In Retirement — But When My Wife’s Values Clashed With Our Plans, I Realized I Didn’t Understand Happiness At All

I Thought I Knew The Secret To Being Happy In Retirement — But When My Wife’s Values Clashed With Our Plans, I Realized I Didn’t Understand Happiness At All

When we considered retiring early, at sixty-two (me) and fifty-nine (my wife), we worked with a financial planner to determine if we had enough money in our investments to make it work. Our planner was the very picture of flexibility and encouragement as she calculated several scenarios so that we could make an informed decision. As is true for many retirement planning scenarios, she set our life expectancy at 100 years. The results showed that we wouldn’t be able to fully fund our lives should we decide to jump ship and retire when we hoped. We felt disappointed and pored over her calculations to see how we could impact the plan.  That’s when we noticed the expected expiration date for our lives and knew how we could tweak our plan in favor of an early retirement. Neither my wife nor I expect to live to see 100, and we believe this is an accurate assumption.  I thought I knew the secret to being happy in retirement, but when my wife’s values clashed with our plans, …

Prince William Opens Up About When He Realized His Mental Health Was “Deteriorating”

The Prince of Wales then looked back on his years as a volunteer pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance between 2015 and 2017, an experience that he explained impacted him more deeply than he was initially willing to admit, even to himself. “Over time, I noticed my mental health really deteriorating, and I hadn’t really clocked onto it because in that community you try and make light of some of the moments just to keep, frankly, sane and just to keep going,” he said. In the role, the prince was part of medical health teams operating in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, dealing with complex and often tragic interventions as a search and rescue helicopter pilot. In that environment, he added, there is a tendency to downplay tough emotions to cope. Only later did he realize, “My god, I’m carrying everyone’s emotional baggage.” He relived fragments of each mission, the pain of family members, the most difficult images: “I was carrying that in myself, and it was really weighing me down.” The prince also …

The 72-year-old Santa Clause star recalled having dinner with the now-president prior to his move into politics. Speaking on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Allen said that at the time Trump was still starring on reality game show The Apprentice, which ran from 2004 to 2010, and was mulling a move into the film business. “He was thinking of moving to Los Angeles and being a movie producer, and he was talking about movies,” remembered Allen. “He said, ‘I really like the film business.’ More than that, the guy’s addicted to comedy. I was killing at the table, and he was going: ‘What a gift. What a gift to do that.’ He …
