Amazon MGM Studios Chief Peter Friedlander Unveils TV Reorganization

Amazon MGM Studios global TV chief Peter Friedlander has unveiled his second major reorganization this year. In the latest move to build out genre-based teams for both development and current programming, Jen Chambers, Michael McDonald and Odetta Watkins will be departing Amazon. Kara Smith is being promoted to head of drama as Friedlander, in an internal memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, added, “I’ve landed on a flatter approach that prioritizes clarity and speed to nurture creativity.”  The result is a new creative leadership structure for drama, comedy, and YA scripted TV. In a Jan. 2026 major TV reorganization, Smith, McDonald and Chambers were tapped to oversee comedy, drama and YA programming and report to Friedlander as the division sought a new head of drama. With Smith in a new role, Friedlander also has plans to bring on a new head of comedy and a head of young adult programming, both reporting to him.   Friedlander joined Amazon MGM Studios in early Oct. 2025 after 14 years at Netflix, and has looked to structure global TV at the studio in …

Why a major reorganization at the Forest Service has people concerned

Why a major reorganization at the Forest Service has people concerned

I was on a road trip to visit a friend late in March when my phone started lighting up. The Trump administration had just announced a sweeping reorganization of the U.S. Forest Service. People — among them current and former agency staffers — had thoughts. Under the overhaul, the Forest Service will move from a regional to a state-based leadership structure, relocate its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Salt Lake City and close nearly three-quarters of its research stations. A news release described this as a much-needed shift to streamline the agency and bring its leadership closer to the forests and grasslands it manages, which are primarily west of the Mississippi. But a common refrain emerged among the sources I spoke with: The Trump administration is trying to break the Forest Service, they claimed, to pave the way for privatizing or even selling off the 193 million acres of land it oversees. On a recent podcast, Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz said this is false, that the reorganization is about prudently stewarding taxpayer dollars, not …

France seeing a ‘re-polarization and reorganization’ of the two poles, left and right

Genie Godula is pleased to welcome Paul Smith, Head of Modern Languages at the University of Nottingham. In his view, one of the most significant developments is the continued use of proportional list systems across communes of all sizes, from Paris to the smallest rural municipalities. What is politically more revealing, however, is the strategic manoeuvring between the two rounds of voting. In some municipalities, discussions between left-wing forces are underway, while in others, particularly large cities such as Paris and Marseille, candidates appear more inclined to forgo alliances. Ubisoft Crashes Most On Record After Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Maker Unveils Reorganization, Cancels Games

Ubisoft Entertainment SA shares in Paris crashed the most on record after the maker of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (more commonly known for Assassin’s Creed) announced widespread restructuring, studio closures, project cancellations, and sharply lower guidance. Shares plunged as much as 36% in the intraday session, currently down 33%, the steepest drop on record. Shares are down to around 2011 lows. Will the 2002 lows be next? The French gaming company said it expects a 1 billion euro EBIT loss in FY 2025-26, driven by a one-off 650 million euro writedown tied to the restructuring. It will close studios in Stockholm and Halifax, cut about 100 million euros in fixed costs by March (a year ahead of plan), and target an additional 200 million in cuts over the next few years. Six games were canceled and seven delayed, including the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, prompting some Wall Street analysts to warn of a broken game development pipeline. Key summary of Ubisoft’s year forecast (courtsey of Bloomberg): Sees net bookings …
