Death in Paradise season 15 finale teases trouble as past resurfaces

Death in Paradise season 15 finale teases trouble as past resurfaces

Before Death in Paradise season 15 arrived on screens, we were introduced to a new character – and Ginny Holder’s replacement – Sergeant Mattie Fletcher, who Don Gilet teased would come with “a little bit of baggage”. “There’s more to her than meets the eye,” he added, though exactly what he meant was kept firmly under wraps. The picture began to take shape in the opening episode, when Mattie was called into Selwyn’s office over her “reckless” behaviour during an investigation. It was revealed that an incident during her time working in Jamaica had been noted in her employment file – though the details remained unclear. She also confided in Seb that she had “messed up on a case big time” in her previous role, and mentioned a boyfriend she had broken up with before coming to Saint Marie – but again, she offered no specifics. But in the season 15 finale, it emerged that those two aspects of her life are connected. Catherine Garton as Sergeant Mattie Fletcher. BBC/Red Planet Pictures/Philippe Virapin While working on …

A buried jar of imperial gold coins resurfaces in Russia

Get the Popular Science daily newsletter💡 Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent six days a week. A remarkable trove of Russian history is finally seeing the light of day after spending nearly 110 years hidden underground. While surveying a historic home in the small town of Torzhok about 135 miles northwest of Moscow, archaeologists discovered a clay container filled with 409 gold coins buried beneath the structure’s foundation. Given their origins along with the context of their storage, researchers believe the cache was likely tucked away amid the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. The collapse of Russia’s monarchy under the reign of Nicholas II is indisputably one of the most consequential and far reaching events of the 20th century. After hundreds of years of serfdom, the nation’s lower classes revolted against Tsarist rule in 1917 amid the backdrop of World War I. Five years of civil war ensued, culminating in the dissolution of royalty and the establishment of the Soviet Union. It was a tumultuous and uncertain time for millions of Russians, forcing many families …

Nostradamus’ chilling prophecy resurfaces as US-Iran war spirals

16th-century astrologer and physician Nostradamus has re-entered the zeitgeist again after the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday, February 28, with many believing that the Frenchman predicted this series of events almost 500 years ago. The US and Israel claimed that the missile strikes were pre-emptive as they believed Iran to have nuclear capabilities, despite the country assuring that its nuclear programme was peaceful. The conflict in the Middle East has entered its fifth day, after the strikes on Iran killed the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as several other Iranian officials. Iran responded to the attack by targeting US military assets in neighboring countries, including Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Jordan.   © Corbis via Getty ImagesNostradamus lived between 1503 and 1566 in France Since the attacks began, many have looked towards Nostradamus’ predictions for an idea of what may come in the unfolding war. How Trauma Quietly Resurfaces in Long-Term Relationships

How Trauma Quietly Resurfaces in Long-Term Relationships

Sasha froze as she heard Eli say, “I don’t know if I want to be married anymore.” After 11 years together, it felt like the ground had disappeared beneath her. Her chest tightened, her heart raced, and panic rushed in. It had been years since she’d felt this way, but her body still reacted as if the threat was real and happening now. Many people believe that once they’ve worked through trauma, it stays in the past. In some ways, this is true. Life can feel easier, reactions less intense, and relationships more stable. But as Sasha’s story shows, even after healing, old trauma can come back, especially in long-term, intimate relationships. When Trauma Returns Sasha spent years in therapy in her 20s, working through childhood abuse and learning to spot triggers and set boundaries. That work mattered. It allowed her to build a stable life and a loving marriage with Eli. For years, their relationship felt emotionally safe. On December 23, Beijing opened an investigation after a museum treasure resurfaced on the auction market.
