Prince Harry has joined the chorus of royals sharing their disappointment after England was knocked out by Argentina in a pivotal semi-final match. Shortly after concluding his trip to the UK, the Duke of Sussex made a solo trip to the Time100 Sports Gala where he was asked by Page Six if he was disappointed with the result. “Of course,” Harry replied. Although England will no longer be able to claim the ultimate glory, they will be hoping for third place when they take on France on Saturday evening. Although Harry is known to prefer watching rugby, he’s previously confessed that domestically, he’s a fan of Arsenal FC. Japan remains one of the few countries where its royal family operates under agnatic primogeniture rules, meaning that women are entirely banned from inheriting the throne. While there had been previous discussions about changing this following the birth of Princess Aiko, these were put to rest when Crown Prince Fumihito welcomed a son, Prince Hisahito. However, due to the shrinking size of the Imperial Family, this week, Japan’s parliament passed a bill that will impact succession laws. Although women still won’t be allowed to accede to the throne, royals will be allowed to adopt distant male relatives over the age of 15 to allow them into the line of succession. These possible male heirs hail from 11 former branches of the family which were removed following World War II; however, they will not take the place of anyone who is already in the line of succession. It would have been a reunion of historic proportions if Prince William had joined his brother, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, when they met with King Charles during their visit to the UK earlier this month. According to the Daily Mail, despite their years-long feud, the royal brothers are in communication, according to friends of the Duke, who spoke to the publication. “Friends of Harry say the brothers ‘do communicate’ and say: ‘It would have been the most amazing signal to everybody if William had managed to be at Highgrove.’” The publication added: “That seems the faintest of prospects, but Harry must be serious indeed about reconciliation to even talk about aiming for this outcome. The Swedish royal family has shared their latest family portrait, but fans couldn’t help but notice that one individual had a minor health hiccup. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia posed for their summer family photo alongside their children, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland, Princess Madeleine, and their grandchildren.  It’s an annual tradition for the Scandinavian royals, who gather at their summer residence, Solliden Palace in Borgholm on the island of Öland, for a number of celebrations, including Victoriadagen, also known as Victoria Day, which marks Princess Victoria’s birthday on 14 July. This year, after enjoying a concert in the Borgholm Castle ruins, the family assembled outside the venue for a photograph that was later shared on social media by the royal house. An inquiry into the Crown Estate triggered by the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor sub-letting controversy heard from the organisation’s chief executive on Monday. Alongside fielding questions over his salary jumping £517,000 in 2019 to £2.3m in 2026, Dan Labbad was grilled by MPs regarding Andrew’s practice of charging his Royal Lodge tenants rent while only paying peppercorn (nominal) rent himself.  “Those potential income streams were taken into account in determining what best value was at the time,” said Dan, in a sentence so ambiguous it may as well be a cryptic crossword clue. Dan also suggested the sub-letting practice is commonplace, a tacit admission that perhaps it isn’t wholly justifiable but everyone’s at it so don’t pick on us, okay. And maybe he’s right? King Charles and Queen Camilla are known for their rock-solid marriage, and during a recent engagement in the Isle of Man, the monarch made a joke about his beloved. While visiting the island, Charles met James Fenton, a 104-year-old Burma Star veteran. The pair had previously crossed paths last year when they met at the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Following their chat, James asked the monarch to pass a message on to his wife, Camilla, to which Charles responded by teasing: “I will. Don’t tell me you’re another one who danced with her as well.” Camilla, who is known to be a fan of dancing, has been seen with numerous veterans over the years at commemorative events.
