The US manufacturer confirmed this milestone was reached with a Model 3 delivered in Manchester on 30 May, a decade after its first UK delivery in 2014. Company figures indicate 2,897 UK deliveries in May, a 44 per cent rise from the 2,016 recorded in the same month last year. Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 secured the top two spots for new electric vehicle registrations across the UK last year. This broader increase in EV demand has been observed since the Iran oil crisis began pushing up petrol and diesel prices. Breaking news: The 007 series is popular. Sarcasm aside, it sounds like longtime Hitman series developer IO Interactive has a bonafide hit on its hands. The company announced in a press release that the newly released 007: First Light video game sold 1.5 million units in its first 24 hours of availability, beating the record for the fastest-selling game IO has ever made. That’s not a small achievement, given the company’s previous success over the past decade with the excellent Hitman reboot trilogy. Mashable Top Stories Perhaps making this sales success even more impressive is the fact that First Light is not, in any way, tied into the James Bond film series. The protagonist is a new, younger version of Bond played by TV star Patrick Gibson, rather than by Daniel Craig or any other previous Bond actor, and aside from some cameos by the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Gemma Chan, most of the game’s central cast is made up of series newcomers who are primarily TV actors. With Case-Shiller reporting existing home price declines in half of America’s largest cities, and after two straight months of rip-roaring demand, NAR reports that New Home Sales in April tumbled 6.2% MoM (almost twice as bad as the 3.2% MoM decline expected). March’s 7.4% MoM spike was revised down bigly to just +3.4%, all of which left new home sales down  Source: Bloomberg Overall, new home sales have really gone nowhere for four years… It seems lower mortgage rates did nothing to help new home sales… Finally, while existing home prices are lower, median new home price rose 2.2% y/y to $422,500; average selling price at $508,800. Fans are selling at a rate of three a minute and sales of ice cubes have tripled, retailers have said, as shoppers search for everything from ice baths to cooling eye masks to combat May’s record temperatures. The UK experienced a “tropical night” on Monday after temperatures earlier in the day had hit a provisional all-time meteorological spring record of 34.8C (94.6F) at Kew Gardens in south-west London. The record was broken again on Tuesday when temperatures provisionally reached 35C (95F) at Heathrow and Kew Gardens. The heat is driving a surge in demand for certain goods. Tesco said that, compared with the previous week, sales of ice cubes had tripled during the heatwave, while sunscreen sales rose almost sixfold. A spokesperson said: “We sold more than 30 times as many electric fans.” British homes have historically been built to trap heat, leading to stifling indoor conditions during recent heatwaves. May 23 (Reuters) – U.S. arms sales to Taiwan take years to ⁠process ⁠and are unrelated to the war ⁠with Iran, a source familiar with the matter said, after a senior U.S. official ​suggested there was a pause due to the need to have enough arms for the conflict.
