Kemi Badenoch savages ‘people pleaser’ Andy Burnham – ‘all airy-fairy’ | Politics | News

Andy Burnham has been slammed by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch as a “people pleaser” with “airy fairy” plans. The new Labour leader will formally become Prime Minister on Monday, when he reportedly intends to make a “dynamic” start to his premiership. Plans to provide “breathing space” on the cost of living and boost economic growth across the UK could include approving new oil and gas drilling in the North Sea, but his ambitions remain largely uncertain, with new Cabinet appointments also not yet confirmed. Ms Badenoch criticised Mr Burnham for not setting out his approach before Monday in an interview with the BBC, describing his comments so far as “airy fairy stuff”. The Tory leader also told Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg that she thought Mr Burnham was a “people pleaser” rather than someone who would make “tough decisions”. While the former Manchester Mayor has pledged to reach out to other parties and end a culture of political “point scoring” in Westminster, Ms Badenoch said she would “score as many points as possible if it means …

Question Time Audience Member Savages 'Sexist' Reform By-Election Candidate

Question Time Audience Member Savages 'Sexist' Reform By-Election Candidate

Robert Kenyon was confronted by the woman on Question Time. A BBC Question Time audience member savaged the Reform UK candidate in a crunch by-election over his “sexist” views. Robert Kenyon has been forced to defend social media posts he made before being chosen to stand for the party in Makerfield, Greater Manchester. The plumber wrote that women can’t “ref, drive or give directions” on an online rugby fan forum in the 2010s. He said women presenting rugby games on TV “aren’t up to the job and only there to tick a box”, adding: “I’m sexist, sorry but I am.” On the same forum, he also said that women have abortions get them for “vanity purposes” and so they can “shag anyone they want”. In a now-deleted social media post, he also interacted with a message sent on X to former Countdown host Carol Vorderman, which said: “Happy birthday Carol, my God I would love to smell and lick your arsehole.” Kenyon replied: “He’s only saying what we’re all thinking,” along with a thumbs up and a …

Ukrainian MP Savages Labour Government's Decision To Ease Russian Oil Sanctions

Ukrainian MP Savages Labour Government's Decision To Ease Russian Oil Sanctions

A rescue worker puts out a fire of a building damaged after a Russian strike on Chernihiv region, Ukraine.  A Ukrainian MP has savaged the UK government’s decision to ease sanctions on oil produced in Russia. Ministers triggered an angry backlash last month after announcing they would allow the import of Russian jet fuel and diesel which has been refined in other countries amid concerns about potential shortages caused by the war in Iran. The move appeared to fly in the face of a previous government pledge to block Russian oil refined in other countries in order to “further restrict the flow of funds to the Kremlin”. The government insisted it was only a temporary measure while tougher sanctions are phased in. But on Sky News this morning, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko hit out at the move, which he said was “a big moral and strategic mistake” which will boost Russia and ensure the war lasts longer. He said: “The United Kingdom, from the very beginning, was one of our biggest supporters, and the United …

Spanish PM Savages Trump For 'Setting World On Fire' With Iran War

Spanish PM Savages Trump For 'Setting World On Fire' With Iran War

Donald Trump and Pedro Sanchez Spain’s prime minister has torn into Donald Trump for unleashing “chaos” with his war in Iran. The US president agreed a two-week ceasefire with Tehran overnight, following more than a month of conflict. The news came as a relief considering the president had warned a “civilisation will die” unless the Iranian regime agreed to end the war just 24 hours before. Trump had told Tehran it had to re-open the Strait of Hormuz, the major shipping lane which transports a fifth of the world’s oil supply, by 1am Wednesday morning (UK time) – or he would attack civilian infrastructure. Oil prices have already started to fall after the truce was announced but there is no guarantees that the global economy will settle back to normal anytime soon. Spain’s Pedro Sanchez made it clear he is not willing to forget the mayhem unleashed by the US’s Operation Epic Fury. According to a translation on X, the Spanish PM tore into the US for the “destruction” it has caused over the last six …

Labour Minister Savages 'Rude, Arrogant And Entitled' Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Labour Minister Savages 'Rude, Arrogant And Entitled' Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, looks round as he leaves after attending the Easter Matins Service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in April last year. A Labour minister has savaged “rude, arrogant and entitled” Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Chris Bryant launched his attack as the government backed calls for all documents relating to the former prince’s time as a UK trade envoy to be published. The trade minister, who called for Mountbatten-Windsor to be sacked from his role in February, 2011, said that was “the least we owe the victims of the horrific abuse that was perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein and others”. “The abuse that was enabled, aided and abetted by a very extensive group of arrogant, entitled and often very wealthy individuals in this country and elsewhere,” he added. Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested last week by detectives investigating allegations that he committed misconduct in public office during his 10 years as an envoy. He was eventually removed from the role in 2011 amid revelations about his friendship with the convicted paedophile Epstein. Speaking in …

Boris Johnson savages Keir Starmer over Union flags – ‘not patriotic’ | Politics | News

Boris Johnson has slammed the Prime Minister over his reaction to people putting up English flags and Union Jacks. He took to Twitter to say that Keir Starmer’s Labour party “doesn’t share their patriotism”. The former PM wrote in the Daily Mail about his appreciation for those raising flags, saying he has “nothing against these impromptu displays of national feeling”. Flags started to be put up in public spaces over the summer, hanging them from street lamps and sign posts. Though those putting them up say they are simply a symbol of patriotism, others believe they are fearmongering tools of the far-right, used to stir up anti-immigration sentiments and other tensions. Starmer said to The Guardian in September that St George’s flag “represents our diverse country” and that he would not tolerate people being “intimidated on our streets because of their background or the colour of their skin”. He also told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I’m very encouraging of flags. I think they’re patriotic and I think they’re a great symbol of our nation. “I …
