Grey’s Anatomy could send Owen and Teddy off with a happy ending — or not. ABC announced last month that veteran stars Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver would be exiting the long-running medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes in the upcoming May 7 season finale. The actors have played Owen and Teddy, respectively, since season five for McKidd and season six for Raver (she took five years off and later returned). Their co-departure is major news for the hit series, which has successfully navigated a changing industry and remains a hit in its 22nd season, but it also makes sense narratively. This was a giant mistake really based on his greatest character flaw, which is his lack of conviction or bravery when it comes to committing to something that requires Benedict stepping out of society. It really makes sense from a story perspective, but I forget that everyone doesn’t know the books. The cast and crew of Grey’s Anatomy are paying homage to Eric Dane. Dane died Thursday afternoon after a battle with ALS. He was 53. The actor appeared in 10 seasons of the ABC medical drama, where he portrayed plastic surgeon Mark Sloan, also known as “McSteamy.” Dane portrayed the character in seasons two through nine, the latter of which was where Mark died. He made one more appearance on Grey’s Anatomy‘s for a cameo during the 17th season.
