Antonee Robinson Shows Off Unreleased Two-Tone Beats Over-Ear Headphones at the World Cup

Several players involved in the World Cup have been spotted wearing unreleased Beats over-ear headphones over the past couple of weeks, and U.S. men’s national soccer team star Antonee Robinson is the latest to be spotted with them. Robinson was captured in a photo on his Instagram account wearing a two-tone version that appears to feature a white headband and housings but with royal blue ear cups. Previous versions of the headphones seen in photos of Yamine Lamal have featured only a single color, and it’s unclear which color options are going to be available to the public, whether ear cups will be swappable to customize your own set, or if Robinson’s set is a custom version produced only for him or a limited number of influencers. The unreleased headphones first appeared in a U.S. Federal Communications Commission database last month, and it’s clear Beats is undertaking a influencer seeding campaign throughout the World Cup to generate anticipation ahead of a public release, but the timing of availability remains unknown. It’s also unclear whether these …

A new study shows that perfectionism is at an all-time high. It’s wreaking havoc on young people

Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Maggie Bannan, a 24-year-old from Chicago, has always known she is a perfectionist. As a child, teachers noted that she struggled to move on from tasks because she was so focused on getting everything exactly right. The trait served her well academically: at Santa Clara University, she completed a double major and graduated a year early. But in adulthood, the perfectionism that once fuelled her success has become a source of anxiety, self-doubt and burnout. “I obsess, I try so hard at something, I exhaust myself and get myself into a place of burnout,” Bannan, who now works full-time in marketing while pursuing acting on the side, tells me. Without the benchmarks she had in education, she feels lost. “When I graduated, I was …

Toy universe shows that time could be a quantum illusion

Toy universe shows that time could be a quantum illusion

Does time actually exist? Bruce Rolff/Stocktrek Images/Getty Images The passage of time may be nothing more than an illusion that emerges from the quantum interactions between different parts of the universe – at least, this is true in a toy model of the cosmos. The experiment may offer hints as to the nature of time in our own universe. Giovanni Barontini at the University of Birmingham, UK, started thinking about time while watching his 6-year-old son play. “He was building his own small universe, and I was thinking that that’s pretty much what we do also in our labs, when we build an ultracold-atoms system,” he says. “But then I was starting to think that this is also quite boring as a universe, because there’s not much going on there, and if nothing happens, it’s like if time is not passing by.” To investigate whether time is truly an illusion in such systems, Barontini used lasers and electromagnetic forces to cool around 20,000 rubidium atoms to temperatures close to absolute zero. He divided the atoms …

our study of Enron traders shows how easily the language of trust can be abused

our study of Enron traders shows how easily the language of trust can be abused

From election debates to job interviews, language shapes our perceptions of how trustworthy other people are. This power can be used to build healthy relationships, but it can also be used to manipulate and deceive. To better understand this darker side of building trust, my colleagues and I turned to the corporate world – a domain that offers plenty of cautionary tales. Our case study was among the most notorious, involving one of the world’s largest energy companies of the 1980s and 90s: Enron. This Texas-based company went bankrupt in 2001 after it emerged it had been systematically falsifying its financial records on a massive scale. Its West Power division manipulated California’s electricity markets by exploiting flaws in the state’s newly deregulated system, boosting profits while triggering one of the worst energy crises in US history by creating artificial power shortages. To manipulate the markets, Enron traders had to win – then keep – the trust of partners, clients and regulators. Subsequent US federal investigations led to the release of more than 500 of their …

Britain could be hit by another heatwave According to the latest WXCHARTS weather maps and forecasts, temperatures are to soar to 34C amid the “very warm or hot conditions” during the next heatwave, which will be at its strongest in mid-June. Forecasters understand high pressure will build in the east of England and in the south east of England. In a long-range forecast, covering the period between 15 June and 24 June, the Met Office said: “Fine and dry across much of the UK for the first couple of days of this period with long spells of sunshine for most. “Temperatures are likely to be above normal and parts of the south could be very warm for a time. Just a chance of some thunderstorms, more likely toward the southwest. “A more unsettled spell is likely through the middle of next week with outbreaks of rain the north and northwest, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. After this, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions …

Pip is a Chihuahua, and Phoebe is a Dachshund. The star shared a fashion-forward image of her new inkings, which looked suitably chic, nestled next to her bronze YSL high heels. Michelle showed off her new inkings – and chic high heels Michelle, 39, also shared the moment that she actually had the tattoo etched onto her feet – lying on a bed in a tattoo shop. Husband Mark was also present, appearing to look through a catalogue of tattoos. Could the former TOWIE star have taken the plunge, too? Did Mark get a tattoo, too? Belfast unrest shows the power of social media as far‑right views on immigration enter the mainstream

Belfast unrest shows the power of social media as far‑right views on immigration enter the mainstream

Footage of a horrific knife attack in Belfast began to circulate on social media on Monday evening. A Sudanese asylum-seeker in his 30s, who entered the UK in 2023, has been charged with attempted murder. Meanwhile, the far-right was quick to exploit the situation to further an anti-immigration agenda. Violent unrest followed on the streets of Belfast and beyond on Tuesday evening. Houses, cars and a bus were set alight, and masked men were seen smashing in windows. Some of the attacks on property were reportedly racist in nature. Posting earlier on social media, activist Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) urged supporters to join street protests against this “invader attack”. Robinson provided a list of locations across Great Britain and Northern Ireland where protests were planned on Tuesday night. His post on X was shared by tech billionaire Elon Musk, who called for citizens to protest “repeatedly and loudly” to change government policies around immigration. The leader of Restore UK, Rupert Lowe, pledged that his party would begin mass deportations and reintroduce the death …

‘Lanterns’ Is Looking Like the True Detective of Comic Book Shows. Here’s Everything We Know

‘Lanterns’ Is Looking Like the True Detective of Comic Book Shows. Here’s Everything We Know

With all the superhero slop that has hit streamers over the past half-decade, it’s been a long time since we were excited for a comic-book show. But Lanterns, the next TV series to launch from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe, is looking increasingly like a strong antidote to our small-screen superhero antipathy. It has a stacked creative team, led by Lost and Watchmen maestro Damon Lindelof—and a vibe that has drawn comparisons to the first season of True Detective. Early trailers have looked pretty damn good. Hitting HBO Max in mid-August, Lanterns will take DC’s fan-favorite Green Lanterns—the cops of the cosmos, essentially, whose super-charged super-rings give them the power to conjure green-tinted shields, weapons, and anything they can really imagine, out of nothingness—and bring them to Earth, for a grounded, gritty detective mystery that seems tonally in line with the aforementioned prestige masterwork. It’s another bold genre swing amid Gunn and Safran’s quest to revitalize DC Studios across media: with Superman, they won acclaim for revitalizing classic Golden Age comic-book style, …
