The royal children were out in full force on Sunday morning as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joined their parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, to attend the Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Berkshire. 14 Tips For Raising Siblings Who Have A Strong Bond

14 Tips For Raising Siblings Who Have A Strong Bond

As an only child, I was in for the shock of a lifetime when my children first started properly fighting. Of course, I knew siblings fought – I grew up alongside other kids and watched their close (and sometimes calamitous) sibling relationships with intrigue and longing. But seeing my own kids fight was another experience altogether. There’s the screaming, hair-pulling, throwing things at each other. It’s like someone’s transported WWE straight into my living room. Siblings are going to fight. It’s only natural – I read somewhere that young children fight around 3-4 times per hour, on average. (Whew.) But it got me thinking: as someone who’s new to this sibling business, and who’s watched family estrangement play out in the public eye, are there specific pointers I should be following now to help raise two kids who have a stronger bond in later life? L.J Jones, BACP registered counsellor and author of Become the Parent You Needed, tells me: “Sibling relationships can be some of the longest-lasting in our lives, yet they’re often filled …

Researchers in Finland observed a reduction in the purchase of medication for anxiety and depression among those with more brothers and sisters in the year preceding and following a parent’s death. The correlation was particularly pronounced in women. The analysis also indicated a higher likelihood of seeking medication when a person’s mother passed away than when a father died. Experts scrutinised the buying patterns of drugs such as antidepressants, sedatives, sleeping pills, and anti-anxiety medications over a six-year period, encompassing three years before and three years after a parent’s death. The study focused on patients aged between 35 and 55, who had between zero and three siblings. Your siblings could be key to helping you navigate the loss of a …

Mom Bans Playdates Because They’re ‘Too Much Work’ And Other Parents Call Her Lazy

Playdates are important social experiences for children. Each person’s childhood is marked with memories of days spent with their closest friends.  Unfortunately, these playdates don’t always leave behind great memories for the parents involved. A lot of preparation and effort must go into each playdate, and that can become tricky. This is supported by research, which found that playdates are often effortful and stressful for parents, and that parental styles can change the quality and nature of children’s play during these sessions. One mom argued that this was true when dealing with her own daughters’ social calendars. However, her child-free brother wasn’t very understanding. Mom bans playdates because they’re too much work, and other parents call her lazy.  Keira Burton / Pexels A man took to an online forum and detailed the recent disagreement he had with his sister. “I was on the phone with my sister,” he said. “I’m childfree by choice. She had two daughters.” The man stated that his nieces are four and 12 years old. “She was venting to me about how …

Biathlon-Greenland siblings putting pride before protest at Winter Olympics

Jan 31 : After a whirlwind few weeks, the brother-and-sister biathlon team of Sondre and Ukaleq Slettemark have put politics aside to focus on making Greenland proud at the Milano Cortina Olympics. The pair have received an enormous amount of media attention after criticising U.S. President Donald Trump for his desire to take over Greenland, but now they want to focus on showing the best side of their nation at the Olympics.  They will represent the Commonwealth of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands at the Games, which start on February 6. “I think we’re both very proud to show that Greenland and Denmark are standing strong together,” Ukaleq, 24, told Reuters. “I agree – normally, we race just for Greenland with our own side, but now in the Olympics, it’s going to be under the Danish flag,” Sondre, who is three years younger, added. The two spoke to Reuters over Zoom from their training base in Obertilliach, Austria, not far from where the biathlon competitions at the Games will take place in northern Italy. …
