I Spent 0 on Fancy Slippers, and I’d Do It Again in a Heartbeat

I Spent $600 on Fancy Slippers, and I’d Do It Again in a Heartbeat

I love a pair of shoes with an admirable work ethic (and have written about plenty of them over the years), but I also love a pair of shoes that would get me flattened in a buffalo stampede. Here’s the thing, though—when’s the last time you were caught in a buffalo stampede, or any situation that frantic? Sometimes, nonsensical shoes make the most amount of sense, and after buying Stoffá’s suede slippers, I’m confident that this is one of those times. Stoffá is an independent tailoring brand based in New York. It’s available at a handful of multi-brand retailers online—Mr Porter, for instance—but it also operates a store in SoHo that will get you drunk on vibes alone in a matter of seconds. Its wares are elegant without being in-your-face about it; they exude the type of easy luxury other brands spend decades trying to approximate. (As you might expect, its made-to-measure program is one of the best in the business.) To be clear: I had no intention of buying these slippers. For months, I …

Best Slippers for Working From Home or Relaxing (2026)

Best Slippers for Working From Home or Relaxing (2026)

Compare Top 7 Slippers More Slippers We Love Photograph: Boutayna Chokrane Bearaby Pillow Boots for $149: These indoor booties are, in fact, made from Bearaby pillows and wrapped in organic cotton. They’re uber-snug, cozy enough to wear without socks, and surprisingly don’t make your feet sweat as most slipper boots do. They’re breathable and machine-washable, but they need to be hung dry, which can take quite some time. Sizing is also limited to small, medium, and large, with the largest fitting up to a men’s 10.5 or a women’s 12.5. The soles aren’t designed for outdoor use, but Bearaby claims they’re comfortable enough to sleep in. (I personally will not be doing that.) Verloop Slide Slippers for $44: Verloop has some of the most colorful designs I’ve tested. Unfortunately, they’re flimsy and don’t offer much support, especially if you have plantar fasciitis. Fleece-lined and made of hypoallergenic yarn, they feel soft, but they won’t keep your feet warm in cold temperatures. I do appreciate that they’re machine-washable. Verloop also sells House Socks, which are at …

Sky News ditches ‘comfy slippers’ as The Wrap replaces News at Ten

Sky News ditches ‘comfy slippers’ as The Wrap replaces News at Ten

The Wrap’s Gillian Joseph (L) and Anna Botting (R). Picture: Sky Sky News has replaced its late-night news bulletin with a new show called The Wrap driven by a “desire to bring in a younger audience”. The launch is part of the UK broadcaster’s 2030 digital strategy, shifting focus away from live, breaking TV news and towards a video-first newsroom. Taking up the slot of 10pm-midnight every night, The Wrap has replaced Sky News at Ten, Press Preview (a review of the newspapers for the next day), and another news slot at 11pm. The Wrap will feature live analysis of news with a guest panel and videos taken from Sky journalists’ Tiktoks and Youtube accounts, aiming to provide more “personality-driven” news and flexibility to react more quickly to the news cycle. The programme, which launched on 26 January, has already had political journalist Kevin McGuire and columnist Sarah Vine feature on its panel. Presenters Anna Botting and Gillian Joseph have retained the same weekday and weekend slots on The Wrap that they previously held on …
