Emaa Hussen appeared in EastEnders: E20, a spin-off from the BBC soap opera – BBC A British actress who appeared in an EastEnders spin-off has been accused of trying to smuggle £150m-worth of methamphetamine into Australia. Emaa Hussen has been charged along with a couple from Adelaide with trying to import 320kg of the drug from West Africa, hidden in bags of charcoal. The actress is best known as Naz in the EastEnders spin-off E20, made a decade ago. The drugs had an estimated street value of 296 million Australian dollars (£157m). Ms Hussen, who appeared in Hummingbird, a Hollywood movie starring British action hero Jason Statham, could face life imprisonment. Australian police broke up the alleged smuggling plot when they discovered the drugs in shipping containers in Port Botany in New South Wales.  The amphetamine was allegedly shipped from Ghana, according to The Sun. Two men who ran a car wash in South Wales have been jailed for 19 years each for their part in a people smuggling ring. Dilshad Shamo, 43, and Ali Khdir, 42, helped transport hundreds of people to Europe from Iraq, Iran and Syria. The National Crime Agency (NCA) said migrants were offered three tiers of service: the cheapest in the back of a lorry or by foot; the next offering travel by cargo ship or yacht; and the top by providing plane travel. Payment was handled in Iraq and Turkey by bankers using the Hawala system – an informal transfer method that works outside the normal banking system. The pair even got migrants to film videos on their way to Europe and used the positive “reviews” as adverts on social media. Shamo and Khdir communicated with other smugglers in the larger network via WhatsApp. Prosecutors said they helped transport at least 409 people in just six months in what the NCA called a “round-the-clock” operation. A social media influencer is facing a jail sentence after attempting to smuggle more than £150,000 of cannabis through Edinburgh Airport. Ellie Crampsie was found to have over 17kg of the Class B drug stashed in her luggage as she travelled home from a holiday in Thailand last year. Ms Crampsie was arrested at the airport and she pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis to others when she appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26, 2026. Ms Crampsie, of Broomhouse, Glasgow, has a large social media following and is prominent in the Glasgow nightlife and events scene, where she promotes several brands. The 23-year-old also runs her own beauty business. Emma Laing, prosecuting, told the court Ms Crampsie had flown on an Air France flight to the Scottish capital from Thailand via Paris and was stopped by Border Force officers on April 16 last year.
