Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has publicly lauded his father-in-law, billionaire Nelson Peltz, as “the best” on his birthday, a gesture that comes amid an ongoing and highly publicised family dispute with his own parents, Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham. The 27-year-old has maintained a notable distance from his football star father and former Spice Girl mother, having made no public appearances with them nor acknowledged them on social media since an explosive statement he posted in January. This silence was particularly evident when his celebrity parents shared family photographs, including their eldest son, in a Father’s Day tribute, to which Peltz Beckham offered no online response. On Thursday, he took to Instagram Stories to celebrate his father-in-law, sharing a photograph of them together at …

Did Qatar’s prime minister ‘snub’ JD Vance? Doha, Washington deny claim – Truth or Fake

Did Qatar’s prime minister ‘snub’ JD Vance? Doha, Washington deny claim – Truth or Fake

A viral clip from the first round of US-Iran peace talks in Switzerland fuelled online speculation that US Vice President JD Vance was snubbed by Qatar’s Prime Minister, after users claimed the video shows him “ignore” Vance in favour of greeting Pakistan’s Prime Minister. The Qatari PM though, dismissed the claims as “unfounded,” saying he and Vance had already spent hours together during the talks. The White House also rejected the narrative, pointing the finger at Iran for the rumours. In posts racking up millions of views and reports, social media users claimed the viral video from the Lake Lucerne Summit is proof of a diplomatic slight, and that the Qatari leader had deliberately “ignored” Vance and chosen to greet Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif first. Users called the moment “so embarassing” and that it showed America “is a laughing stock.” Others cited the interaction as evidence of strained relations surrounding the US-Iran peace process, with some claiming it shows the “level of relations that the Trump administration has created.” The Qatari PM though, rejected the claims directly. …

James Bond icon calls Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday snub “a mistake”

James Bond icon calls Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday snub “a mistake”

X-Men and James Bond alum Famke Janssen has reiterated her claim that Marvel Studios did not invite her to return as Jean Grey in its forthcoming crossover film Avengers: Doomsday, adding that it was a “mistake” on their part. The Dutch actor is probably best known for playing the X-Men’s powerful telepath, who found herself in a love triangle with Cyclops (James Marsden) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), before her menacing Dark Phoenix persona tragically consumed her. The storyline played out across the original X-Men trilogy, while Janssen also popped up for very brief cameos in 2013’s The Wolverine and 2014’s Days of Future Past, after which Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner took over the role. GoldenEye and Taken star Janssen was notably absent from the announced Avengers: Doomsday cast, which includes Marsden, Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique). That Romijn was the only female X-Men star on the list ruffled feathers among fans, as the likes of Jean Grey and Storm (Halle Berry, also omitted) are …

Iran demands ships apply to use Strait of Hormuz in snub to UK and G7 allies

Iran demands ships apply to use Strait of Hormuz in snub to UK and G7 allies

Iran has said ships must seek permission to use the Strait of Hormuz and raised the prospect of future charges just days after the Prime Minister and other leaders stressed “the right of transit passage without restrictions or tolls”. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), a government agency set up by Tehran during the earlier ceasefire to control the strategic waterway, posted on social media on Friday that vessels would be required to submit requests at least 48 hours in advance to pass through the channel. It also said admin tariffs, including for “related Iranian insurances” would be waived during the 60-day negotiation period provided for by the interim peace deal to reach a lasting agreement, leaving the way open for fees being levied at a later date. The move came as US President Donald Trump claimed Iran was “finished”. Ending Tehran’s stranglehold on the sea route, which disrupted global oil and gas supplies and drove up fuel and food prices, had been a key demand in negotiations. Sir Keir Starmer has previously highlighted the …

Did Macron ‘snub’ Trump at the G7 summit? Viral video lacks context – Truth or Fake

Did Macron ‘snub’ Trump at the G7 summit? Viral video lacks context – Truth or Fake

With the G7 summit underway in France, some social media users are claiming that French leader Emmanuel Macron deliberately “humiliated” US President Donald Trump by not being there to greet him upon his arrival at the airport. Many posts shared a video showing Trump disembarking an aircraft and later appearing unsmiling during a handshake with Macron, suggesting the two events were linked. However, the viral footage omits important context. Social media users claimed that Macron “sent a protocol official to welcome Trump” and that the US president was “humiliated”. The context missing from these claims is that Donald Trump did not fly directly to France. He first arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was greeted by the president of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, in line with standard diplomatic protocol. Macron therefore would not have been expected to meet him at the airport, and the official shown receiving Trump at the tarmac was not “sent” by the French president. Trump was transported to Évian-les-Bains, the spa resort town hosting the G7, via helicopter and armoured car, where …

Germany’s Maria says should have got more respect after Queen’s wildcard snub

Germany’s Maria says should have got more respect after Queen’s wildcard snub

LONDON, June 9 : Reigning Queen’s Club champion Tatjana Maria said she should have been given more respect after being forced to qualify for the WTA grasscourt tournament this week. The German, then 37, won the title last year when the women’s tour returned to the venue after a 52-year absence. She was the oldest winner of a WTA 500 tournament. But she had to come through the qualifying tournament this year after not receiving one of the four wildcards, all of which were handed to lower-ranked British players. “It feels almost like a normal tournament because I had to start over again in qualifying,” Maria, who was made an honorary life member at the London club after her title run last year, told BBC Sport. “Already what I did last year was amazing and to be a champion here, I thought I deserved a wildcard and to get a little bit of respect.” Wildcards, awarded at organisers’ discretion to players whose ranking does not merit main-draw entry, are often reserved for home players. “I …

Nigel Farage Branded 'Whining Narcissist' Over Desert Island Discs Snub Row

Nigel Farage Branded 'Whining Narcissist' Over Desert Island Discs Snub Row

Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage walks through the House of Commons to attend the State Opening of Parliament last month. Nigel Farage has been branded a “whining narcissist” after he complained about not being invited on Desert Island Discs. The Reform UK leader called for the BBC licence fee to be abolished because he is not lined up as a guest on the long-running Radio 4 show. Those chosen as “castaways” are asked by presenter Lauren Laverne to name the eight musical recordings, book and luxury item they would like to have with them if they were stranded on a desert island. According to a new biography of Farage by Tory peer Lord Ashcroft, Reform asked the BBC if he could be a guest, as Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch have been in the past, but were told they had no space in their schedule. A Reform source told The Times: “We approached the BBC as we thought it would be a no-brainer with Keir and Kemi going on, but it would appear they have …

Democratic AGs snub Vance’s White House anti-fraud roundtable

U.S. Vice President JD Vance holds a press conference to discuss “anti-fraud initiatives” in the Indian Treaty Room at the White House complex in Washington, D.C., U.S., May 13, 2026. Evelyn Hockstein | Reuters Democratic state attorneys general declined an invitation to Vice President JD Vance’s anti-fraud initiatives roundtable at the White House on Tuesday, citing the fact that they were only invited on Friday, days after their Republican counterparts were asked to attend. “While we would appreciate the opportunity to engage in serious discussions, the invitation was provided with less than one business day’s notice with no agenda,” the 24 attorneys general wrote Vance in a letter dated Tuesday, after the Memorial Day holiday. “This short notice does not match the spirit of collaboration that has long defined our joint efforts with federal partners,” the letter said. “Accordingly, we respectfully decline to attend at this time.” Among the attorneys general who declined to attend is Keith Ellison of Minnesota, whose state has been the focus of Trump administration actions targeting alleged Medicaid fraud schemes …

‘Beaches’ Musical to Close After 2026 Tony Awards Snub

‘Beaches’ Musical to Close After 2026 Tony Awards Snub

Beaches, The New Musical is the first Tonys casualty of the season and will now close May 24 after being shut out of the nominations. The show began previews at the Majestic Theatre March 27, ahead of an April 22 opening date, but has failed to catch on with audiences and with critics, who delivered mixed to negative reviews. Last week on Broadway, the musical played to just 51 percent capacity, and it has been bringing in $550,000 or less per week since opening, which is far below the running costs of an average musical.  The show, which stars Jessica Vosk and Kelli Barrett, likely hoped for nominations for its leads or for the musical itself to help right the ship.  Still, the show was always set for a limited Broadway run, through Sept. 6, before heading on a national tour. The production said Tuesday that plans are currently underway for the tour. It came to Broadway after about a 10-year development period with an international premiere in 2024 at Theatre Calgary in Alberta, Canada, …

City Council progressives snub Raman, endorse Bass in L.A. mayor’s race

City Council progressives snub Raman, endorse Bass in L.A. mayor’s race

Three members of the Los Angeles City Council’s progressive bloc are throwing their support to Mayor Karen Bass in her bid for reelection, dealing a blow to challenger Nithya Raman, their progressive ally on the council. The council members endorsing Bass — Eunisses Hernandez, Ysabel Jurado and Hugo Soto-Martínez — are all members of the Democratic Socialists of America, as is Raman. The four routinely cast dissenting council votes on increased police spending and creation of new anti-encampment zones in the city. Hernandez and Jurado planned to announce their endorsements of Bass on Tuesday, with each citing Bass’ handling of the Trump administration’s immigration raids over the summer and her work to reduce homelessness as significant reasons for their support of the mayor. “When immigrant communities across our city came under attack, Karen Bass stood up and spoke out. She showed real leadership and conviction,” Hernandez, who represents a district running from Pico-Union to Highland Park, said in a statement. Soto-Martínez, who endorsed Bass earlier this year, joined his DSA colleagues with a statement saying …
