However, their creators are planning to be cautious when it comes to the next Wallace & Gromit film and AI methods. Nick Park and Peter Lord, the producers behind Wallace & Grommit, have warned of the “danger” around relying on artificial intelligence to create art. Speaking to The Times, Park said that the team use technology when making the films as “an instinctive thing”. open image in gallery Wallace and Gromit last appeared on our screens on Christmas Day in 2024 “Slowly technology came along to help us,” he said. “We used it to do anything that we couldn’t do with clay, basically.” However, he now worries that animators “rely too much” on technology – particularly AI. “Obviously I can understand …

Japan’s Takaichi faces fresh scrutiny over BOJ policy stance

Japan’s Takaichi faces fresh scrutiny over BOJ policy stance

TOKYO, March 10 : Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s stance on monetary policy came under scrutiny on Tuesday when a lawmaker grilled her finance minister on whether she had pressured the central bank chief to hold off on raising rates further. Although legally independent, the Bank of Japan has often faced political pressure to pump up stimulus or halt unwanted slides in the yen with rate hikes. Speculation that dovish premier Takaichi would pressure the BOJ to go slow on rate hikes heightened after a media report that she had voiced reservations about additional tightening in a meeting with Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda last month. Asked about the report by an opposition lawmaker, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said she had nothing to add beyond what Ueda told reporters after the meeting, including that Takaichi made no specific policy request. “In general, specific monetary policy means fall under the jurisdiction of the BOJ. I believe it ought to be that way,” Katayama told parliament. “I also hope the BOJ continues to work closely with …

‘Terrible people’: Donald Trump reignites feud with London Mayor Sadiq Khan as he blasts UK over Iran stance

Donald Trump appeared to reignite his feud with Sir Sadiq Khan by saying London has a “terrible Mayor” and “some terrible people”. The US President also suggested Sir Keir Starmer was pandering to Muslim voters after the Prime Minister refused to join his strikes against Iran. He claimed Britain “is not such a recognisable country” anymore and singled out the capital as a “a very different place”. Speaking to The Sun about the UK, Trump said: “It’s also not such a recognisable country. “I mean, you look at what happened over the last period of time and it’s very different. “London is a very different place, with a terrible Mayor. You have a terrible Mayor there, some terrible people. But it’s a very different place.” A spokesperson for the Sir Sadiq hit back, saying: “The Mayor is clearly still living rent free in Donald’s Trump’s head. He’s obsessed with him. Sadiq could probably claim squatters rights.” Donald Trump said Sir Keir had not been ‘helpful’ (PA Wire) Trump said that the UK has been “much …

Mike Johnson’s biblical defense of US border policy ignores the Bible’s stance on power

(RNS) — In the middle of a recent 3 a.m. doomscroll — yes, we clergy are as susceptible as anyone — I ran across clips of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, invoking the New Testament to defend U.S. border policy against Pope Leo XIV’s comments about the moral obligations Christians bear toward migrants. Johnson’s argument was a familiar one, citing Paul’s Letter to the Romans to suggest that Christians are called to submit to governing authorities, whose responsibility it is to preserve order through law. That Scripture, Johnson claimed, means migrants are to be welcomed, yes, but only on the condition that they assimilate. Unable to fall back asleep, I did what Anglican clergy do when the night runs out: I turned to Morning Prayer. As if by providence — or perhaps irony — the Old Testament reading appointed for the Daily Office that morning was the Book of Genesis, chapter 23, in which Abraham negotiates for a burial plot for his wife, Sarah, in a foreign land. Reading it with Johnson’s appeal to …

Putin Breaks Trump Ceasefire Vow, Shows True Stance On Peace

Putin Breaks Trump Ceasefire Vow, Shows True Stance On Peace

Vladimir Putin bombarded Ukraine with strikes overnight, days after Donald Trump claimed the Russian president had agreed to a weeklong ceasefire. The US president told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday that he had asked Putin not to attack Ukraine’s capital Kyiv “and the various towns for a week and he agreed to do that” as temperatures plummet to -20C. Trump said it was “very nice” of Putin to listen to him, adding: “A lot of people said, ‘Don’t waste the call. You’re not going to get that,’ and he did it and we’re very happy that they did it.’” Trump did not say when this period was supposed to start or end. His remarks left many in Ukraine bewildered, considering targeted Russian strikes have been taking out Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for months, leaving much of the population without power or heat. Although there were no strikes on the Kyiv region in particular that night, Ukraine’s air forces said Russia had fired a ballistic missile and launched more than 100 drones at the country in 15 …

Sydney Sweeney Raises Eyebrows With Fresh Comments About Her Political Stance

Sydney Sweeney Raises Eyebrows With Fresh Comments About Her Political Stance

Sydney Sweeney has sparked plenty of conversation on social media after doubling down on her stance about not talking politics. The Euphoria actor was recently asked by Cosmopolitan whether there was a future in which people will get to see what her political beliefs are, to which Sydney responded: “No.” “I’m not a political person,” she elaborated. “I’m in the arts. I’m not here to speak on politics. That’s not an area I’ve ever even imagined getting into. It’s not why I became who I am.” Sydney continued: “I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don’t believe in hate in any form. “I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another.” These comments are the latest development stemming from Sydney’s controversial American Eagle ad campaign, which was celebrated by Donald Trump, and riffed on a “great jeans/great genes” double entendre. At the time, critics pointed out that its centring of a blonde, white woman along with language that could be seen to mirror …

Deezer makes it easier for rival platforms to take a stance against AI-generated music

Deezer makes it easier for rival platforms to take a stance against AI-generated music

Last year, Deezer introduced an AI detection tool that automatically tags fully AI-generated music for listeners and removes it from algorithmic and editorial recommendations. The company announced on Thursday that it’s now making the tool available to other streaming platforms in an effort to help address the rise of AI and fraudulent streams, as well as promote transparency within the music industry and make sure human artists still get the recognition they deserve. Alongside the move, Deezer reported that 85% of streams from fully AI-generated tracks are deemed fraudulent. Notably, the service now receives 60,000 AI tracks per day, totaling 13.4 million AI-detected songs. By contrast, in June of last year, fully AI-generated music made up 18% of daily uploads, surpassing 20,000 tracks. Deezer claims its AI music detection tool can identify every AI-generated track from major generative models like Suno and Udio. In addition to excluding AI-generated tracks from recommendations, Deezer’s tool demonetizes them and excludes them from the royalty pool, as the company aims to fairly compensate musicians and songwriters. The tool’s accuracy …

Trump ties Greenland stance to not getting Nobel Peace Prize

Trump ties Greenland stance to not getting Nobel Peace Prize

U.S. President Donald Trump linked his aggressive stance on Greenland to last year’s decision not to award him the Nobel Peace Prize, telling Norway’s prime minister that he no longer felt “an obligation to think purely of Peace,” two European officials said Monday. Trump’s message to Jonas Gahr Støre appears to ratchet up a standoff between Washington and its closest allies over his threats to take over Greenland, a self-governing territory of NATO member Denmark. On Saturday, Trump announced a 10% import tax starting in February on goods from eight nations that have rallied around Denmark and Greenland, including Norway. Those countries issued a forceful rebuke. But British Prime Minister Keir Starmer sought to de-escalate tensions on Monday. While the White House has not ruled out taking control of the strategic Arctic island by force, Starmer said he did not believe military action would occur. “I think this can be resolved and should be resolved through calm discussion,” he said. Still, the American leader’s message to Gahr Støre could further fracture a U.S.-European relationship already …

Trump administration’s stance on Myanmar elections sparks concern

Trump administration’s stance on Myanmar elections sparks concern

The democracy movement in the Southeast Asian country of Myanmar has for decades found powerful champions in the Republican Party. President George W. Bush introduced, then expanded, wide-ranging sanctions on the repressive military that has governed Myanmar on and off since independence in 1948. Former Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) repeatedly led legislation that funneled funding to pro-democracy groups. The late Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) was among the first world leaders to meet Myanmar’s civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi in 2011 after she was released from house arrest. Source link
