Saibari out for Morocco but coach says France game will not hold any surprises

FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts, July 8 : Morocco have no special plans for their World Cup quarter-final against France but know they will need to match their heavily fancied opponents in all departments, coach Mohamed Ouahbi said on Wednesday.  They must, however, cope on Thursday without striker Ismael Saibari, who hurt his hamstring early in their last-16 victory over Canada. “He’s not ready but I hope it’s not the end of the tournament for him,” Ouahbi told a press conference. Saibari scored goals in each of Morocco’s three group games and netted the decisive penalty in the shootout victory over the Netherlands in the last 32. “With regards to preparing for the match, there will not be any surprises. I have nothing to hide. I’m not somebody who is keen on surprises, and those of you who have analysed our games, you know that we have a clear idea of how we want to play. “Of course, the key will be to hurt them when we have possession, but it’s not only on the wings. We have …

13 Snubs and Surprises From the Emmy Nominations 2026

13 Snubs and Surprises From the Emmy Nominations 2026

SURPRISE: Widow’s Bay Gets Its Due This show was bound to peak either too late or right on time—and today’s Emmy nominations proved it was right on time. Matthew Rhys is now a double nominee for his work on both The Beast in Me and Widow’s Bay, the latter earning him a nod for lead actor in a comedy series. The horror comedy also received a coveted outstanding-comedy-series nomination, pushing out other hopefuls like HBO’s The Comeback and Rooster. Widow’s Bay earned 19 nominations overall, proving that being a late arrival on the scene with tremendous word of mouth can be key to getting recognition in a crowded field. —J.R. SNUB: Paul Anthony Kelly’s JFK Jr. Doesn’t Land a Nomination in Limited Series This category held a few surprises, actually. Riz Ahmed received a nomination for his work in Amazon’s Bait, a series that was critically lauded but not widely seen. Likewise, Jason Bateman got a nomination for Black Rabbit, which premiered last September. Many people thought Bateman’s work in DTF St. Louis would overshadow …

Star Wars: Galactic Racer preview – You’ll find it’s full of surprises

Star Wars: Galactic Racer preview – You’ll find it’s full of surprises

At the Summer Game Fest conference in sunny Los Angeles earlier this month, I played Star Wars: Galactic Racer for about half an hour. I found that the game is full of surprises. Firstly, it’s worth noting that this is not just a podracing experience. While the standard reaction to the game is ‘Heck yeah, I loved Episode I: Podracer back in the day!’, the developers from Fuse Games have gone out of their way to do more than just podracing this time out. There are also speeder bikes, land speeders, and skim speeders (think of the salt-skimming ships on Crait from The Last Jedi), which all have their own pros and cons as you blast around the track. The game’s high octane tutorial introduces you to these in quick succession, and there will be different vehicles spread throughout the main story campaign. But don’t worry, in multiplayer and arcade modes, you can jump straight into podracing whenever you want. Are you up to the challenge? Fuse Games Personally, I enjoyed the intense cornering of the …

2026 Tony Awards Snubs, Surprises

2026 Tony Awards Snubs, Surprises

Ragtime and Cats: The Jellicle Ball battled it out at the 2026 Tonys, leading to some unexpected wins and snubs. The musical revivals went into Sunday night’s awards ceremony with 11 and nine nominations respectively, and they ended the night with Ragtime in a slight lead with four Tonys to Cats: The Jellicle Ball‘s three awards. Ragtime triumphed in the best musical revival category, arguably the closest race of the night. However, Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, who directed Cats: The Jellicle Ball, won best direction of a musical over Ragtime director Lear deBessonet, triumphing in a close race. Another Cats snub and surprise win came in the featured actor in a musical race. Theater legend André De Shields was seen as having an edge in the category for his role as Old Deuteronomy, a literally show-stopping performance, but instead Ali Louis Bourzgui was the surprise winner for his role as The Lost Boys‘ charismatic vampire leader. Bourzgui delivered a powerful speech, in which he spoke out against fascists and billionaires and in support of …

MEEK by name but certainly not by nature, one of the UK’s most endearing new pop prospects kicks off the afternoon in a flurry of neon tulle. Her defiant anthem “Fabulous” is the perfect start as her sizeable audience chants along with her: “I just got my heart broken but I look f***in’ fabulous/ Yeah I’m back in therapy but I look f***in’ fabulous…” Members of the crowd snap their fans – bearing the legends “C***”, “S**G” or “GAY” – in approval. I stopped checking the weather forecast – and got a series of wonderful surprises | Life and style

I stopped checking the weather forecast – and got a series of wonderful surprises | Life and style

When I heard on the radio that more than half of British people would consider cancelling an outing if they saw a 40% chance of rain all day on their weather app, I felt seen. I, too, am a slave to my app. Not that I would ever make a decision based on one whole-day percentage. I pore over three-hourly breakdowns for chances of rain versus minutes of sunshine. If rain is on the cards, I check the probable millimetres. Less than one? I may well throw caution to the wind. Speaking of which, wind speed and direction must also be considered, along with overall and “feels like” temperatures. For the cherry on top, I’ll compare notes with a loved one’s app if they use a different one, quietly mistrusting theirs, and simmering in silent rage if theirs wins. I’ll admit, though, that my compulsion to check my app (I long ago chose WeatherPro, which I knew nothing about, but liked its layout and name) is borderline neurotic; I fret over probabilities and outfit appropriateness, …

Jon Stewart Surprises Stephen Colbert With Recliner, Andra Day

Jon Stewart Surprises Stephen Colbert With Recliner, Andra Day

Even though it’s bittersweet for Stephen Colbert as he nears the end of The Late Show, Jon Stewart quite literally lifted the host’s spirits on Tuesday. During Stewart’s visit to the CBS late night talk show for his final guest appearance, he brought Colbert a gift, previewing the host’s new life once The Late Show ends on May 21. “Everybody has been coming up with a bit to sort of end their thing. They sang you a song. They wrote you a poem. They did all that. I am not talented, so I’m not doing any of that,” The Daily Show host quipped. “You deserve something tangible, something that you have earned. You deserve a gift that befits the sacrifice and work that you have put into this show, and that can show you the life you can lead and the life that I am leading now that I’m not really in show business,” Stewart said, as crewmembers rolled out two recliners. “My man. You’re gonna enjoy watching Matlock in this motherfucker.” However, the surprise …
