Prince Harry “Close to Tears” Over UK Visit Security Situation

Prince Harry “Close to Tears” Over UK Visit Security Situation

When RAVEC informed the Sussexes this would not be the case, hours after they reportedly issued a detailed op note about the engagements they planned to carry out, the Duke of Sussex “was devastated and close to tears,” a source told Vanity Fair. “He had assumed that because he was bringing the kids, and the king had made a royal residence available to them, he would get what he has been pushing for all along—full-time police protection. That has not been the case,” the source said. “The king has made it clear that while he wants to see his estranged son and grandchildren, he will not intervene in security matters.” It has been reported that, following Harry’s various appeals through the High Court, RAVEC began a new risk assessment of Harry’s security late last year, but that review has not been concluded. “From speaking to people close to him, it’s clear he is stressed and very disappointed in RAVEC’s decision not to give his family the security he believes they need to have to be …

All About Althorp: Princess Diana’s Home and Final Resting Place

The Althorp Estate’s Beginnings The first recorded mention of a place then known as “Olletorp” appears in the Domesday Book of 1086. Originally a small village, it had become deserted by 1505, due to the Black Death, as some historians believe. In 1508, John Spencer, whose family were wildly successful sheep farmers, wool traders, and landowners, purchased what is now known as Althorp for 800 British pounds from a family named Catesby. Here, John, nicknamed “the founder,” built a moated red brick Tudor mansion. As subsequent Spencers earned riches, status, and titles, Althorp grew. In 1688, the original mansion was almost totally rebuilt and the parklands were redesigned. “The house, or rather palace, at Althorpe is a noble uniform pile in form of a half H, built of brick and freestone ‘a la moderne’; the hall is well, the staircase excellent; the rooms of state, galleries, offices, and furniture, such as may become a great prince,” diarist John Evelyn wrote, per Althorp: The Story of an English House. “It is situate in the midst of …

Catherine, Princess of Wales ‘was first senior royal to completely distance herself from former Prince Andrew’

Catherine, Princess of Wales ‘was first senior royal to completely distance herself from former Prince Andrew’

Catherine, Princess of Wales is said to have been the first senior royal to completely distance herself from the former Prince Andrew. As the fallout from the disgraced ex-duke’s association with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein deepened inside the monarchy, the future queen totally stepped away from her husband’s uncle, according to royal author Christopher Andersen. Catherine, 44, is said to have refused to engage with Andrew, 66, during family gatherings and holidays as concern grew over the reputational damage surrounding the disgraced duke. The claims were made by Andersen during an interview with Page Six while promoting his latest royal book, Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will be Queen. Christopher said: “She is the first royal to cut (Andrew) off, to turn her back on him.” The royal author also claimed Catherine prevented Andrew from attending her annual Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey. Christopher added: “He asked, through intermediaries, if he could slip in a side door.” According to Christopher, the response was direct. He said: “Nope, we don’t want your …

Prince Edward becomes first Royal to visit Andrew in exile to have ‘quiet word’ about brother moving into permanent home

Prince Edward is the first member of the royal family to visit his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at his temporary home on the Sandringham estate. The Duke of Edinburgh, 62, is said to have had a “quiet word” with his brother about finally moving to the five-bedroom Marsh Farm house on the royal estate in Norfolk. The former prince is said to be “dragging his heels” about moving into the property, which required weeks of renovations following his sudden move in January. Instead, Andrew, 66, is currently holed up in the nearby Wood Farm, where Edward typically stays during the Easter celebrations. Edward is currently being accommodated in the main house at Sandringham while waiting for his brother to leave with a deadline set for this weekend, The Sun reports. A source told the newspaper: “Prince Edward was the first and only member of the Royal Family to visit. Andrew has been ignored by everyone since he left Royal Lodge, including his daughters and ex-wife who have stayed away. “Edward has already publicly made his …

Betrayal by Tom Bower book review: Merciless, but Meghan might have the last word

Betrayal by Tom Bower book review: Merciless, but Meghan might have the last word

Tom Bower tells us at the start of Betrayal what a lot of us wanted to know: whether Harry and Meghan are going to divorce or separate. For, as he observes, “Divorce, debt and disaster are constant themes about the Sussexes’ future”. The answer is no… “for now”. So the Gruesome Twosome (to misquote Julie Burchill) are still, it seems, an item. But two and three on that list are another matter. The Sussexes, he tells us, need three million dollars annually to keep the wolf from the door, and on every front — Netflix, Spotify, jam retailing — the income is drying up. As for the suggestion that Harry apparently entertained, of a return to being a working royal, it too looks like a non-runner. Not with his baleful brother on the case. In fact the most striking observation in this merciless account of the Sussexes is the obvious: that the fate of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor strikes a chill to Prince Harry’s heart. Not that his errors involve allegations in connection with Jeffrey Epstein; just …

Queen told friend Meghan ‘brainwashed’ Harry, Tom Bower’s new book claims

First extracts from Tom Bower’s new book on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex suggest the Queen once told a friend “Meghan’s brainwashed Harry”, as relations between the couple and the rest of the royal family soured. The piece, published on The Times website on Friday, claims tensions escalated between the Sussexes and the Prince and Princess of Wales prior to Harry and Meghan’s departure from the royal family – with William and Kate allegedly considering the duchess “a threat”. Bower’s forthcoming book – Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family – continues his investigation into the strained relationship between the Houses of Sussex and Windsor, four years after the publication of his bestseller Revenge: Meghan, Harry, And The War Between The Windsors. The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Chris Jackson/PA) (Chris Jackson) According to Bower’s account, William and Kate believed Meghan “lamented Harry’s unlikely chances of one day being king, just as she regretted the possibility that she would never be …
