Prince Harry “Close to Tears” Over UK Visit Security Situation

Prince Harry “Close to Tears” Over UK Visit Security Situation

When RAVEC informed the Sussexes this would not be the case, hours after they reportedly issued a detailed op note about the engagements they planned to carry out, the Duke of Sussex “was devastated and close to tears,” a source told Vanity Fair. “He had assumed that because he was bringing the kids, and the king had made a royal residence available to them, he would get what he has been pushing for all along—full-time police protection. That has not been the case,” the source said. “The king has made it clear that while he wants to see his estranged son and grandchildren, he will not intervene in security matters.” It has been reported that, following Harry’s various appeals through the High Court, RAVEC began a new risk assessment of Harry’s security late last year, but that review has not been concluded. “From speaking to people close to him, it’s clear he is stressed and very disappointed in RAVEC’s decision not to give his family the security he believes they need to have to be …

All About Althorp: Princess Diana’s Home and Final Resting Place

The Althorp Estate’s Beginnings The first recorded mention of a place then known as “Olletorp” appears in the Domesday Book of 1086. Originally a small village, it had become deserted by 1505, due to the Black Death, as some historians believe. In 1508, John Spencer, whose family were wildly successful sheep farmers, wool traders, and landowners, purchased what is now known as Althorp for 800 British pounds from a family named Catesby. Here, John, nicknamed “the founder,” built a moated red brick Tudor mansion. As subsequent Spencers earned riches, status, and titles, Althorp grew. In 1688, the original mansion was almost totally rebuilt and the parklands were redesigned. “The house, or rather palace, at Althorpe is a noble uniform pile in form of a half H, built of brick and freestone ‘a la moderne’; the hall is well, the staircase excellent; the rooms of state, galleries, offices, and furniture, such as may become a great prince,” diarist John Evelyn wrote, per Althorp: The Story of an English House. “It is situate in the midst of …

How JFK Jr. Asked Princess Diana to be on the Cover of George Magazine

In the end, John and Diana spent “a pleasant enough” hour or so together. “I remember he felt like it was more fun than he had expected in the royal meeting, a little more genuine,” Sasha said. “I think he liked her, put it that way.” And despite later rumors that the couple had an affair that was consummated at the Carlyle that day in a “moment of pure lust,” Patrick said he remained in the room the whole time. “I stayed in the room throughout and was not aware of any mad, passionate activities,” he said. “My observation was, it was a kind of mutual sounding‑out. It was a kind of appraisal, and it wasn’t overtly flirtatious, but it was friendly.” Prior to the meeting, Patrick and Diana had discussed how long to let the conversation go on. When it reached that point, Patrick interrupted, apologizing, and saying something like, “We’ve got to get ready for the next thing,” giving the princess an out. As John made his way back downstairs, Diana turned to …

Princess Diana’s 65th birthday: 9 iconic moments that defined her life

Diana was 36 when she was killed in car crash in Paris on August 31 1997 when she was being pursued by the paparazzi. Nicknamed the People’s Princess for her caring, open approach, Diana was known for her devotion to her two children, Princes William and Harry, the breakdown of her marriage to the Prince of Wales, her personal struggles, and her charity work. And for special mention, that revenge dress. Key moments in Princess Diana’s life From shy teenage to royal superstar Diana’s appeal began almost from the moment she appeared on the world stage as an awkward, shy teenager in the early 1980s. Before becoming a global royal superstar, she was living in a London flat with her girlfriends and working in a kindergarten. Although hailed as a “commoner” when she began dating Charles, Lady Diana Spencer was a member of the aristocracy, born into a privileged family that had close connections to the royals. Diana’s wedding to Charles was billed as a true life fairy tale. Amid pomp and circumstance, shy 20-year-old …
