Madison & Tyler From Love On The Spectrum Are Really Good At Handling Emotional Triggers

During an episode from the latest season of Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum,” which follows autistic individuals as they navigate relationships and love, a scene between Madison Marilla and her now fiancée, Tyler White, showed a moment most couples face but don’t know how to handle.  Sharing the particular scene on their Instagram, marriage counselors Chris and Jamie Bailey pointed out that Madison and Tyler’s handle on emotional triggers is something most couples spend decades trying to learn but ultimately fail at. There was a level of honesty and realness that captured viewers’ attention and also highlighted the importance of communication and understanding. Madison & Tyler from ‘Love on the Spectrum’ are really good at handling emotional triggers, something most couples struggle with. In the scene, Madison and Tyler were approaching their date location when a fan off in the distance could be heard yelling, “Maddie! I love you!” The visibly affected Madison, whose autism sometimes causes “black and white thinking,” was visibly upset after hearing the nickname “Maddie.” She actually stated that it made …

Labour MPs ‘nervous breakdown triggers Starmer’s end timetable’ | UK | News

The Express understand Labour MPs are preparing to write to Sir Keir Starmer urging him to set out a timetable for his departure in the wake of next week’s local elections, as the threat of a Cabinet revolt grows. Following what is expected to be a punishing set of results on May 7, MPs are said to be readying a statement calling on the Prime Minister to stand down by the party conference in the autumn — allowing time for a leadership contest and an orderly handover. Crucially, the timetable would also give potential rivals room to manoeuvre. Andy Burnham would need to find a route back to Westminster, while Angela Rayner would need time to resolve her tax affairs. Who is being lined up to replace Starmer? Labour sources suggested that Burnham’s allies are behind the push to oust the Prime Minister, with reports that an MP from the North-West could stand aside to give him a seat in Parliament. Names being discussed include Marie Rimmer, Charlotte Nichols and Peter Dowd — though both …

A geriatrician warns this silent emotion triggers Alzheimer’s: ‘It’s as risky as diabetes’

Chronic loneliness has become one of the most pressing issues of our time, with a profound impact on not only our emotional wellbeing but our brain health, too.  Experts note, however, that feeling lonely isn’t the same as simply being alone. While social isolation is something we can measure as the objective lack of regular human contact, loneliness is deeply personal.  It’s that subjective sense of disconnection or emptiness that can hit you even while you’re in a crowded room, and it can take a serious toll on both your mental and cognitive health.  Unfortunately, it’s a problem that’s on the rise. When we’re isolated from the outside world, we miss out on the mental ‘spark’ triggered by social interactions that are important for keeping our brains sharp and helping to ward off age-related decline. © Getty Images Geriatrician Dr Liliana Vargas explains that loneliness is an Alzheimer’s risk factor ‘every bit as significant’ as more traditional ones, from hypertension to diabetes The link between unwanted loneliness and dementia Recent studies have highlighted that unwanted …

Global Inflation Scare: Chinese Exporters Hike Prices As Iran War Triggers Ethane Shortage, Plastics Crunch

Global Inflation Scare: Chinese Exporters Hike Prices As Iran War Triggers Ethane Shortage, Plastics Crunch

Chinese exporters are finally passing on the pain – right as they’re experiencing a major shortage of a key industrial material. After years of cutting prices amid overcapacity and cutthroat competition, manufacturers are now raising prices on everything from swimsuits and ski suits to medical syringes and air conditioners. The culprit: the Iran war’s energy shock, which has sent oil-linked input costs skyrocketing and is now rippling straight through to global store shelves. Customs data compiled by Trade Data Monitor and analyzed by Bloomberg reveal sharp year-on-year price jumps in March across more than a dozen categories of household goods – the first sustained reversal in a disinflationary trend that had helped keep a lid on inflation from the U.S. to Europe for nearly three years. “I held off raising prices for as long as I could in March, but in the end I had no choice,” said Pang Ling, sales manager at a Shanghai-based medical catheter maker. “I panicked watching plastic costs climb almost every single day.” Products reliant on rubber, plastic, and oil-derived …

When a Voice Triggers Bias

When a Voice Triggers Bias

Can the way someone sounds influence how they are treated? Emmy-nominated actor Cooper Koch, known for the TV Series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, recently shared a striking experience. In an interview, he revealed that he struggled to get acting roles. When talking about this with his teacher, she told him the reason: he ‘sounded gay’ (Tabberer, 2024). Cooper openly identifies as gay, yet it was his voice, rather than his talent, that was seen as a barrier. He is unlikely to be the only one. In the UK, discrimination based on perception is unlawful under the Equality Act (2010). This means that treating someone unfairly because they are perceived as gay is legally prohibited. Still, experiences like Cooper’s suggest that subtle forms of bias persist. As we approach the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (May 17), it is worth reflecting on how these judgments emerge and why they matter. The ‘Gay Voice’ as a Stereotype The idea of a ‘gay voice’ is a stereotype. People often hold expectations about how …

IDF soldier’s destruction of Jesus statue triggers Poland-Israel spat – POLITICO

IDF soldier’s destruction of Jesus statue triggers Poland-Israel spat – POLITICO

“IDF soldiers themselves admit to war crimes. They killed not only civilian Palestinians but even their own hostages,” the center-right politician continued. Sikorski’s criticism seemed to add fresh fuel to the dispute. “What you wrote reflects ignorance and a deep lack of understanding,” Sa’ar responded on X on Monday. The IDF is a “professional and ethical army,” the minister added, and “there is no Western military that fights terrorism more precisely, or on the basis of better intelligence, than the IDF.” The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed it had completed an initial investigation into the act and that “appropriate measures” would be taken against “those involved,” adding that the statue would be restored to its original location. Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa also condemned the images as “a grave affront to the Christian faith,” calling for “disciplinary actions” against the perpetrator. The spat comes as tensions between Israel and the EU continue to escalate, with even traditional European allies of Israel voicing criticism of its treatment of Palestinians. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he was “deeply concerned about …

Powerful 7.5-Magnitude Quake Hits Northern Japan, Triggers Tsunami Warnings

Powerful 7.5-Magnitude Quake Hits Northern Japan, Triggers Tsunami Warnings

A powerful and shallow 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Japan’s northeast coast, triggering a tsunami at Kuji Port in Iwate Prefecture. Public broadcaster NHK initially warned that a tsunami up to 10 feet high was expected to hit the Iwate area on Honshu’s main island. However, so far, it has been reported to be about 31 inches high. The quake was reported shortly before 17:00 local time, rattled towers as far away as Tokyo, and forced the suspension of Shinkansen high-speed rail services in Iwate, NHK said. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said the government had mobilized an emergency task force and urged citizens in affected areas to evacuate. “Possible damage and casualties are now being looked into,” Takaichi told reporters in Tokyo. Japan sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” one of the world’s most seismically active zones, where multiple tectonic plates collide and generate earthquakes. Since the 2011 Fukushima disaster, when a 9.0-magnitude quake and tsunami sparked triple reactor meltdowns, Japan has overhauled its response and evacuation systems to improve disaster readiness. NHK cited the …

Electoral earthquake: Hungary vote triggers setback for Putin and Trump

Electoral earthquake: Hungary vote triggers setback for Putin and Trump

Hungarian voters on Sunday ousted long-serving Prime Minister Viktor Orban after 16 years in power, rejecting the authoritarian policies and global far-right movement that he embodied in favor of a pro-European challenger in a bombshell election result with global repercussions. It was a stunning blow for Orbán — a close ally of both US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin — who conceded defeat after what he called a ″painful″ election result. Anthropic’s AI hacking tech triggers concern in German cyber agency – POLITICO

Anthropic announced on Tuesday evening that it shared its latest model with a newly formed group of 12 cybersecurity firms and 40 other unnamed organizations to scan and stress-test their systems. Experts fear the model, if used for malicious purposes, could lead to massive cybersecurity breaches across the tech supply chain. BSI has not yet directly tested the tool, Plattner said in a written statement, but the agency had conversations with developers that had have given it “meaningful insight” into how the Mythos model works. Cyber officials have dialed up their warnings in recent months that AI tools are getting better at finding cyber flaws. The head of the EU’s cyber agency ENISA in February described the impact of AI on cybersecurity as an oncoming “storm.” According to Plattner, the German cyber chief, Anthropic’s new Mythos model means “we may reach a point in the medium term where unknown, classical software vulnerabilities simply cease to exist.” Source link
