Netflix is one of the main platforms for true crime shows, and the streaming giant has recently released The Predator of Seville, and it’s been shooting up its charts, currently in fourth place in the United Kingdom, despite being out for less than a week. The show follows the story of Gabrielle Vega, a university student who was abroad in Spain when she was sexually assaulted by tour guide Manuel Blanco Vela. Although Gabrielle initially kept the attack to herself, when she shared the story on social media, many others came forward with their own experiences that mirrored her own. The episodes follow Gabrielle’s trip abroad, her social media post that prompted such a viral response, before culminating in Manuel’s trial. On Monday, February 23, Queen Camilla welcomed Gisèle Pelicot, the French woman who testified against her husband in a high-profile rape trial last year, to her home in the royal residence of Clarence House. Over tea, the two women discussed Pelicot’s book, A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides, which chronicles how Pelicot escaped marital sexual violence. Kianna Underwood, a former child actor known for roles in early-aughts Nickelodeon hits including All That and Little Bill, was killed Friday while walking in New York City. She was 33. Underwood starred in the last season of All That, a show that kicked off the career of controversial screenwriter Dan Schneider, who was later accused of abuse and misconduct while at the network, which he exited in 2018. Now that acclaimed article is being adapted into a Paramount+ limited series starring Anne Hathaway as Palm, the survivor who formed a bond with the man who nearly ended her life.
