Iran’s military later said it had retaliated for the strikes. U.S. Central Command said its aircraft “struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.” A one-way attack drone launched by Iran on Thursday struck the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Lovely in the strait off the coast of Oman, Central Command said in a post on X. The vessel was able to continue on its way through the strait, which is a major thoroughfare for the shipment of oil. Trump said the U.S. military “knocked down” three other attack drones aimed at ships in the strait. “The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated …

Trump later said at the White House, “You’ll find out,” when a reporter asked if there would be any consequences for Iran. Asked if he considered the ceasefire to still be in place, Trump replied, “I don’t like the fact that they took a shot yesterday. “ “They shouldn’t be doing that. So, you’ll find out,” he said. In his Truth Social post accusing Iran of violating the ceasefire, Trump wrote, “The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transversing the Strait of Hormuz.” “One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and …

OpenAI limits GPT-5.6 rollout after government request, says restrictions shouldn’t be the norm

OpenAI limits GPT-5.6 rollout after government request, says restrictions shouldn’t be the norm

OpenAI is limiting the release of its newest AI models to a “small group of trusted partners” at the behest of the U.S. government, the company said Friday. The next generation GPT-5.6 lineup includes Sol, its flagship model; Terra, a more balanced model for everyday use; and Luna, a faster, lower-cost option. Although Sol is the company’s most powerful model, the Trump administration has restricted the release of all three. OpenAI said the preview is limited to partners “whose participation has been shared with the government.” The administration’s request comes as the U.S. government puts new pressure on AI companies to restrict their most advanced systems. After Anthropic released its most powerful public model Fable 5, the administration ordered the company to remove access for any foreign national, prompting Anthropic to take the model down entirely.  The incident has brought up questions of how much power the government should have over AI model releases. Dean Ball, a former White House AI adviser and soon-to-be OpenAI employee, says President Trump’s recent executive order — which asks …

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on countries imposing digital services tax

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on countries imposing digital services tax

President Donald Trump on Friday threatened to impose a “100% TARIFF” on the goods of any country that imposes a digital services tax on U.S. companies. “This TARIFF will supersede Trade Deals made with the Country, whether implemented, signed, or not,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. He added that those tariffs “will be immediately imposed” should countries proceed with their digital-tax plans. Trump has previously vowed to retaliate against countries that impose digital services taxes, claiming they unfairly target U.S. tech giants. Last year, Trump vowed to cut off all trade talks with Canada over its own proposed version of the tax. Ottawa subsequently scrapped the levy shortly before it was set to come into effect. Digital services taxes are typically structured to apply only to the world’s largest and most established tech companies, like Meta, Alphabet and Amazon, which are U.S. firms. More than a dozen countries have imposed digital services taxes. Trump’s Friday afternoon post singled out “Numerous European Countries” that he says are considering imposing the taxes. It is unclear which law would give …

Trump Jokes “I’d Be The Greatest Communist In History” As Democratic Elites Panic Over Socialist Hijack

Trump Jokes “I’d Be The Greatest Communist In History” As Democratic Elites Panic Over Socialist Hijack

A series of high-profile Democrats and party strategists this week sounded the alarm that socialists have hijacked the Democratic Party, with radical left-wing revolutionaries increasingly gaining power not just in local elections across the country, but most notably in far-left-controlled New York City. Let’s begin with President Trump’s overnight comments on Truth Social, in which he told the anti-American, pro-globalist radical left: The Communists are finally making their move. I’ve been waiting and preparing for this for a long time. It’s easy to be a Communist — All you have to do is say, “I’ll give you everything,” but that means you’re taking it away from others that have earned it. Over thousands of years, that Ideology has not worked once. The game is on. Trump also fired off another Truth Social post early Friday afternoon, joking that: “Communism is very easy to sell. I’d be the Greatest Communist in History. I’d give free rent, free houses, free food, everything is free. Unfortunately, after two or three years, the Country where this is taking place …

Trump Threatens 100% Tax on European Imports if Countries Impose Tax on Digital Services

Trump Threatens 100% Tax on European Imports if Countries Impose Tax on Digital Services

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday threatened a 100% tax on imports from any country that imposes a tax on digital services from United States companies. In a post on social media, Trump took aim at European countries that he said are discussing “imminent” implementation of taxes on American companies. The U.S. president has repeatedly sought to use tariffs as way to deter such taxes, but many countries are looking for revenues as their economies increasingly operate in digital realms that are dominated by American companies. “Please let this statement serve to represent that any Country that imposes such a Tax will immediately be met with a 100% TARIFF on any and all Goods sent to the United States of America,” Trump wrote. He added that the new tax would supersede any previously negotiated trade deals. Trump said the penalty would apply to any country that moves forward with such a tax, but he singled out European nations in his post. The move could lead to a larger showdown that could increase prices …

‘Rush Project at Request of POTUS’: Trump Is Draining the National Parks to Pay for His Projects

‘Rush Project at Request of POTUS’: Trump Is Draining the National Parks to Pay for His Projects

The pathway that connects the White House residence to the Oval Office has long been paved in Tennessee flagstone. Every president since Harry Truman made the 45-second commute, and made it without complaint, until Donald Trump. The dun rock would not do. Instead, Trump wanted polished African granite, carved in Italy, with a flamed-finish stripe—slightly raised, to prevent slips—running down the middle. As workers tore up the flagstone in March, a reporter asked Trump who was paying for the enhancements. “Paid for by me,” he replied. But that wasn’t true. Budget documents from the National Park Service that I obtained show that the walkway replacement cost taxpayers $689,232, and is part of a $1.3 million project that included repairing adjacent stone and masonry and providing new hardware for nearby doors. A year earlier, in a separate “Rush project at request of POTUS,” the Park Service spent $347,503 to remove and replace the stucco on the colonnade wall, a project that cleared the way for Trump to affix gold frames and plaques mocking some of his …

Former Trump national security adviser Bolton pleads guilty in classified files case

Former Trump administration national security adviser John Bolton pleaded guilty on Friday to illegally retaining classified information, sealing a deal with federal prosecutors that could allow him to avoid a prison term.  Bolton, who became an outspoken critic of US President Donald Trump after serving in the Republican’s first administration, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 28 by US District Judge Theodore Chuang in Greenbelt, Maryland. Bolton pleaded guilty to a single count of illegally retaining classified information. His plea agreement with the Justice Department may enable him to avoid time behind bars, but the judge ultimately will decide his punishment. Trump eases pressure on Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh as inflation tops 4%

Trump eases pressure on Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh as inflation tops 4%

U.S. President Donald Trump arrives with incoming Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh for Warsh’s swearing-in ceremony at the White House in Washington, D.C., U.S., May 22, 2026. Jonathan Ernst | Reuters With inflation topping 4%, the Trump administration is easing off its long-standing calls for the Federal Reserve to immediately cut interest rates. That is giving new Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh an extended political grace period as he deals with a challenging economic environment, but underscores the depth of the pushback he could face if the mercurial president changes his mind.  President Donald Trump said as recently as Wednesday that he wants the Fed to cut rates. Meanwhile several of the president’s top economic advisors have in recent interviews and writing stopped short of calling for near-term rate cuts, as they had before the Iran war sent some prices surging and Trump installed Warsh as the new Fed chairman. What might look like division is really an indication that the Trump-Warsh relationship has shifted the political gravity of the Trump administration, a White House official …
